SENIOR LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST About the Role As a Senior Commercial Learning & Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the capability of Deliveroo’s commercial teams. We’re looking for someone who takes a proactive, consultative approach, identifying skills gaps before they surface and recommending targeted, scalable learning solutions. You will bring expertise in sales training, with a strong understanding of how to build capabilities across sales, account management, and operations roles in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Your focus will be on driving performance and enabling long-term commercial success across global markets through high-impact learning initiatives. This is not a reactive delivery role – we need a strategic partner who thrives on diagnosing challenges, engaging senior stakeholders, and building future-fit development programs. Key Responsibilities Diagnose Needs & Drive Strategy * Act as a trusted advisor to commercial leaders, using a consultative approach to uncover capability gaps, define root causes, and recommend learning interventions. * Use data and business performance insights to proactively identify learning opportunities that support strategic goals and increase commercial effectiveness. * Translate market and team-specific challenges into robust learning strategies, with a strong focus on sales capability development. Design & Develop Learning Programs * Design and deliver blended learning solutions (in-person, digital, and virtual) that develop soft skills, commercial acumen, sales competencies, product knowledge, and operational excellence. * Collaborate closely with internal SMEs, global stakeholders, and third-party providers to curate and co-create impactful content tailored to local markets. * Ensure programs are scalable, outcome-driven, and aligned with Deliveroo’s values and commercial objectives. Deliver & Evaluate Learning Initiatives * Facilitate training sessions and workshops across all commercial functions, adjusting delivery style to suit audience needs and cultural context. * Drive adoption of digital learning tools and foster a culture of continuous learning. * Use project management techniques to oversee end-to-end execution of learning programs, from design to measurement. * Implement evaluation frameworks to measure the impact of learning on business performance and iterate based on feedback and data. Be a Senior Learning Partner * Influence and challenge stakeholders to adopt best practices in learning and development, rather than defaulting to reactive, one-off solutions. * Collaborate with peers across the L&D team to refine ways of working, develop shared toolkits, and continuously improve learning delivery. * Champion learning across the business by role-modelling strategic thinking, collaborative behaviours, and learner-obsessed design. What We’re Looking For * Experience in sales and commercial training, ideally within fast-paced, tech-driven or global organisations. Contact centre L&D experience is a plus. * Proven success applying a consultative L&D approach – diagnosing needs, recommending solutions, and measuring outcomes. * Experience designing and delivering multi-format learning programs (virtual, in-person, digital). * Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership. * Excellent project management skills; able to juggle multiple initiatives across segments / markets with competing priorities. * Analytical mindset – uses data to inform decisions and challenge assumptions. * Curious, self-directed, and confident in navigating ambiguity with a proactive mindset. Expectations at Senior L&D Specialist Level You will be expected to: * Take ownership and prioritise strategically, delegating where appropriate and avoiding over-commitment. * Understand and anticipate commercial and market challenges, and align your work with key business metrics. * Apply deep expertise to moderately complex problems with limited guidance, identifying long-term risks and strategic implications. * Communicate clearly and effectively, simplifying complex ideas to gain buy-in and drive action. * Role-model Deliveroo’s values and encourage others to do the same, proactively shaping culture, inclusion, and team development. * Coach and support others, contribute to talent development, and build a strong internal L&D community.
