What you’ll be doing As an Associate Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping how millions of users save, invest, and grow their money. Moving beyond individual contributions, your primary focus will be on team success, delivery, and people growth. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like: * Lead and grow a Consumer-oriented team: Own the day-to-day management of a squad of 3-5 engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring high team morale. * People Management & Mentorship: Actively invest in the growth of your team members through regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, performance reviews, and identifying stretch opportunities to help them advance their careers. * Drive delivery and technical execution: Translate product and business goals into a clear, predictable technical roadmap. Optimize agile workflows, unblock your team, and ensure reliable execution of ambitious projects. * Collaborate across domains: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering Managers to align on priorities, manage dependencies, and define shared engineering standards. * Report up and communicate clearly: Keep leadership informed on team progress, risks, and blockers, effectively translating technical complexities into business-relevant terms. While you won't be coding day-to-day, your technical background will be crucial to partner with your Senior and Staff Engineers, facilitating architectural discussions and ensuring the right technical decisions are made. Our tech stack includes PostgreSQL, Java, and Spring Boot, relying on AWS for infrastructure (EC2/ECS, S3, AWS Lambda, Kinesis, ElasticSearch). Together with your senior technical leads, you will ensure the team's technical health while taking ownership of end-to-end deliverables Who we’re looking for We need a servant-leader who loves building high-performing teams and gets things done. WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU, AS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER * Become a proficient user of our platforms (AWS, Kubernetes, Prometheus/Grafana, etc) and our tools (Rust and .NET ). Training will be available to fill in any gaps in your current knowledge * Partner with your Engineering Manager and Product Manager to size and break down requirements for new features and product efforts * Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders * Employ design patterns, testing and automation to ensure fast and safe iteration cycles. Use your knowledge to coach your teammates and level up the whole engineering organisation * Play an active role in our incident response.
