What you’ll be doing
As an Associate Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role in turning Satispay into the financial home of every Italian business.
Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:
* Lead and grow a Business-oriented team: own the day-to-day of a team of 5–8 engineers, fostering a culture of ownership,
technical excellence, and continuous improvement
* Drive the delivery of ambitious projects: translate product and business goals into a clear technical roadmap, and ensure the
team executes on it reliably and predictably
* Collaborate across domains: work closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to align on dependencies,
priorities, and shared standards
* Hire and develop talent: participate in recruiting to grow the team, and actively invest in the growth of individual engineers
through feedback, mentorship, and stretch opportunities.
* Report up and communicate clearly: keep leadership informed on progress, risks, and blockers, translating technical complexity
into business-relevant terms.

* Engineering Leadership Experience: 5+ years in backend engineering, with at least 2 in a team lead or tech lead role managing a
squad in a product-driven environment.
* Backend Expertise: strong command of distributed systems and API design, with a track record of delivering robust, scalable
services in a high-growth or regulated industry.
* Proven Delivery Ownership: demonstrated ability to own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical scoping and
planning to production rollout, balancing speed with quality.
* Clear and Effective Communication in English: comfortable engaging with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders; able to
represent your team's work to leadership and translate business needs into technical direction
* Passion for Fintech and Financial Products: genuine interest in how technology is reshaping the way businesses manage money,
with an appreciation for the responsibility that comes with building in a regulated, high-trust environment.

What you'll be doing
As a Software Engineer III, Backend in the Consumer Payment & Services Domain, you’ll play a key role in building and scaling the
services that our users interact with daily, driving app engagement and simplifying money management for millions. Here’s what
your day-to-day will look like:
* Own the End-to-End Lifecycle: Design, build, test, and operate mission-critical consumer features—from technical design to
production—using Java, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.
* Build & Scale High-Impact Features: Develop and maintain core user functionalities such as BNPL ("Pay in 3"), Gift Cards,
Mobile Top-ups, and Personal IBAN transfers.
* Enhance Payments Mechanics: Improve the backend logic and reliability of budget mechanisms and scheduled top-ups, ensuring
payment mechanics are clear and scalable.
* Master a Modern Tech Stack: Take ownership of our AWS-based infrastructure (EC2/ECS, S3, Lambda, Kinesis) and drive
architectural improvements across microservices.
* Work in an AI-Powered Environment: Leverage AI tools daily to write and optimize code, speed up root cause analysis, and
generate documentation to raise engineering efficiency.
* Solve Complex & Ambiguous Problems: Turn vague user needs into scalable technical solutions, balancing delivery speed with
technical quality and maintainability.
* Collaborate & Lead Quality: Work cross-functionally with Product and UX/UI teams while contributing to code reviews and
refactoring initiatives to promote best practices.
* Drive System Reliability: Debug complex issues across services and investigate production incidents to continuously improve
system health.
