What you'll be doing As our Fraud Data Analyst, you'll be the person who secures the future of digital payments by architecting sophisticated real-time defense strategies. Here's what your day-to-day will look like: * Architect Real-Time Strategies – You will be responsible for our real-time decisioning engine, designing and deploying logic that combines ML scores with velocity features to make millisecond decisions. * Precision Rule Development – Translate complex fraud patterns into high-performing rules, optimizing the balance between False Positive Rates (FPR) and Gross Fraud Loss. * Deconstruct Payment Fraud – Proactively hunt for emerging schemes (ATO, social engineering) and turn these insights into end-to-end mitigation strategies. * Optimize the Decisioning Stack – Partner with Product and Engineering to define analytical requirements for new features and third-party data signals. * Calibrate ML & Heuristics – Work with Data Science to operationalize machine learning models, determining how to best "wrap" model scores with heuristic rules. * Champion Frictionless UX – Analyze security measures to identify unnecessary hurdles, designing dynamic friction strategies for a seamless user experience. * Strategic Performance Reporting – Monitor rule efficacy and portfolio health, presenting data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to evolve our risk appetite. If you're curious and ready for real ownership, you'll fit in! Does this sound like you? * Experience – You have between 3 and 7 years of professional experience, specifically within the risk, payments, or credit sectors. * Technical Proficiency – You are highly skilled in SQL and Python for data analysis and strategy development. * Domain Expertise – You have a solid understanding of payment fraud dynamics and experience working with real-time decisioning environments. * Communication – You possess excellent communication skills and are fluent in English. * Nice to Have – Experience with Machine Learning, Data Science, PySpark, or GraphQL knowledge is a significant plus. The Mission We are looking for a motivated and curious Credit Risk Analyst to join our Credit Risk team and help protect Scalapay, its customers and merchants from credit risk. In this role, you’ll play a key part in monitoring and improving the quality of our credit portfolio, identifying risk patterns, and contributing to strategies that reduce credit losses while maintaining a seamless customer experience. You’ll work closely with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, and Fraud specialists, with real exposure to decision-making and measurable impact on the product. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Monitor and analyze the credit portfolio through data-driven studies, statistical analyses, and reporting. * Track portfolio performance and trends across customers and merchants, contributing to forecasting and risk insights. * Oversee and enhance application processing and credit scoring processes, monitored internally at high frequency and developed in collaboration with specialized external providers. * Leverage Credit Bureau (SIC) data and indicators to support credit decisions and portfolio monitoring. * Collaborate with the Fraud Management team to detect and prevent emerging fraud patterns and anomalies across the credit lifecycle. * Contribute to the evolution of credit risk strategies in a fast-growing BNPL environment. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: Must Have * A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field. * Hands-on experience with credit scoring models, tools, and methodologies. * Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis. * Experience or working knowledge of AWS-based tools (e.g. SageMaker, Feast (open source of Tecton), Amazon QuickSight). * A solid understanding of credit risk management in financial services, payments, or e-commerce. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. * Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Nice to Have * Experience with Python, SAS, R, or similar tools for data analysis. * Previous exposure to consumer credit markets, particularly in credit risk or application processing. What you'll be doing As a Software Engineer, Backend in the Core Team, you’ll play an important role in building and maintaining the backbone of our payment platform. You will be a key contributor to the technical quality and delivery of robust systems that support multiple services and product teams across the company.
