What you'll be doing As a Software Engineer III, Backend in the Consumer Growth Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of digital payments by designing and building scalable features that drive user growth and reduce friction for our community. Here's what your day-to-day will look like: * Own the Story Lifecycle: Take full ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle—from technical design to production release—ensuring that product stories are robust and scalable. * Accelerate Activation & Trust: Build and optimise high-reliability systems for onboarding, document verification, and security flows to ensure users can start transacting safely in minutes. * Drive Engagement & Discovery: Enhance the app experience by developing core backend services for shop discovery and personalised consumer journeys. * Scale Loyalty & Monetisation: Build the technical foundation for user retention, contributing to "Plus" subscription plans, referral programs, and loyalty mechanics. * Master a Modern Tech Stack: Take ownership of our AWS-based infrastructure and participate in architectural improvements across our growth-focused microservices. * Work in an AI-Powered Environment: Leverage AI tools daily to write and optimise code, speed up root cause analysis, and generate documentation to raise engineering efficiency. * Ensure Quality and Stability: Conduct technical analysis, accurately estimate effort, and participate in incident resolution to ensure system health. * Collaborate & Document: Create comprehensive technical documentation and collaborate cross-functionally with Product and stakeholders to align with the roadmap. Who we're looking for We need a problem-solver who loves teamwork and gets things done. If you're curious and ready for real ownership, you'll fit in! Does this sound like you? * Experience: You have at least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong track record of building and maintaining scalable microservices. * Technical Foundations: Solid expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with a good understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and cloud environments (AWS is a plus). * Growth Mindset: You care about performance and user experience, understanding how technical improvements in onboarding or loyalty flows impact millions of users. * Reliability & Documentation: You are structured in your approach, enjoy writing clear technical documentation, and focus on building maintainable, high-quality code. * Teamwork and Communication: You excel at cross-functional collaboration and can communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical peers. * Language proficiency: You are passionate about FinTech, user growth, or startup environments and are fluent in English. Here's what your day-to-day will look like: * Own the Story Lifecycle: Complete the entire story lifecycle from intake to production release, ensuring all requirements are met for product stories. * Build Business Financial Systems: Develop and maintain services for fee calculations, invoicing, payout orchestration, and settlement flows to ensure accuracy for thousands of businesses. * Deliver Compliance & Reporting Solutions: Contribute to systems handling periodic reviews, risk assessments, and transaction reporting to support regulatory requirements. * Contribute to Technical Excellence: Conduct technical analysis for standard scope stories and implement robust, scalable back-end solutions. * Work in an AI Engineering Culture: Use AI as a core part of your engineering workflow to accelerate development and deepen analysis while keeping quality and judgment at the center. * Grow Your Technical Voice: Share your vision with the team through code reviews and technical discussions, building the skills to become a technical reference for the pod. * Ensure Quality and Stability: Accurately estimate effort, resolve blockers promptly, and participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis. * Document and Communicate: Create comprehensive technical documentation for the features you build and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Who we're looking for We need a problem solver who is eager to learn, owns their work, and is ready to collaborate and to take real ownership. Does it sound like you? * Experience & Technical Foundations: You have at least 3 years of industry experience working with Java and a foundational understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus). * Teamwork and Communication: You are able to communicate clearly and professionally, contributing to team-level knowledge sharing and building trust with peers. * Financial Domain Awareness: You have an interest in – or experience with – financial systems such as billing, invoicing, payouts, or settlement processes. * User Focus: You care about the end result and how the back-end supports a great experience for businesses. You will be a key contributor to the technical quality and delivery of robust systems that support multiple services and product teams across the company.
