To support this mission, we are looking for a Custom Emulator Electronics Engineer to join our Electrical Functional Test Team in Munich. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and deployment of custom electronic hardware used within Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), EGSE, and spacecraft verification environments. You will develop electronic systems that accurately emulate spacecraft equipment, sensors, actuators, electrical loads, and communication interfaces, enabling robust and automated testing throughout the product development lifecycle. You will work closely with avionics, software, systems, AIT, and test engineers, taking ownership of electronic developments from concept definition through schematic design, PCB layout, prototype validation, firmware development, and deployment into operational test environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In your role as Custom Emulator Electronics Engineer, you will: * Design and develop custom analog and digital electronic hardware used to emulate spacecraft subsystems, sensors, actuators, power interfaces, and communication buses. * Develop signal conditioning circuits, interface electronics, load simulators, fault injection systems, and custom test equipment for verification activities. * Own the complete hardware development lifecycle, from requirements capture and architecture definition through schematic design, PCB layout, manufacturing support, bring-up, validation, and release. * Design multi-layer PCBs using Altium Designer (or equivalent ECAD tools), ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and maintainability. * Develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers and custom electronic platforms supporting emulation, control, monitoring, and automated testing functions. * Perform hardware debugging, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting activities using laboratory instrumentation. * Define and execute validation and characterization campaigns for newly developed electronic systems. * Support integration of custom electronics into HiL and EGSE platforms. * Collaborate with software and automation engineers to implement scalable and automated test solutions. * Produce technical documentation, test reports, design reviews, and manufacturing packages in accordance with engineering best practices. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of test infrastructure, emulation capabilities, and engineering processes. YOU AND YOUR TEAM WILL BE IN CHARGE OF * Designing and maintaining custom electronic hardware that enables accurate and repeatable spacecraft verification activities. * Developing emulation platforms capable of reproducing real-world electrical behaviors and interfaces. * Expanding the capabilities of the company's HiL and EGSE environments through innovative hardware solutions. * Ensuring reliability, performance, maintainability, and scalability of test electronics. * Supporting critical spacecraft development and qualification campaigns with high-quality engineering solutions. MUST-HAVE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field. * Minimum 2 years of professional experience in electronic hardware development, test equipment development, embedded electronics, industrial automation, aerospace, automotive, or a comparable industry. * Strong experience in analog and digital circuit design. * Proven experience developing custom electronic hardware from concept through production and validation. * Experience with signal conditioning circuits, interface electronics, measurement systems, or electronic test equipment. * Strong proficiency with ECAD tools, preferably Altium Designer. * Experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and manufacturing support. * Practical experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs. * Ability to develop and debug embedded firmware in C/C++ or similar languages. * Hands-on experience using laboratory instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, power supplies, and multimeters. * Experience performing board bring-up, debugging, verification, and troubleshooting. * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously on multidisciplinary projects. * Good communication skills and fluency in English. NICE TO HAVE * Experience with LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand. * Experience with automated test systems and data acquisition platforms. * Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability electronic systems. * Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, RS-422/485, SPI, I2C, UART, or Ethernet. * Experience with FPGA-based systems or mixed-signal electronics. * Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python for test automation and data analysis. * Experience with environmental, qualification, or acceptance testing. * Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems and verification methodologies. * Experience developing electronic emulators, simulators, or custom test equipment. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Automation/Electrical Engineer to join our HiL/EGSE Engineering Team in Munich. You will contribute to the design, development, and integration of complex Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) platforms, supporting the verification and validation of avionics and electrical subsystems. These platforms are composed of hundreds of electrical and electronic components (both COTS and custom-made) and must meet CE marking and Machinery Directive compliance. Your work will have a direct impact on the performance, reliability, and safety of critical aerospace systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In your role as an Automation/Electrical Engineer for HiL Platform Development, you will be responsible for the following: * Lead the compliant design of electrical schematics for both power and signal circuits * Define and implement safety devices, protection mechanisms, and power management solutions * Be responsible for the overall electrical design of the HiL test laboratory * Develop and support electrical setups for component and subsystem testing — ranging from simple rigs to highly integrated systems * Ensure compliance with industry standards, CE marking, and applicable electrical safety regulations * Collaborate with a highly skilled cross-functional team (software, simulation, mechanical, avionics) throughout the development lifecycle * Participate in technical reviews, support documentation efforts, and ensure traceability of requirements * Occasionally travel abroad to support customers, suppliers, or company affiliates YOU AND YOUR TEAM WILL BE IN CHARGE OF: * Defining the architecture of HiL electrical systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability * Selecting, specifying, and integrating electrical components and interfaces for the test platforms * Performing make-or-buy analysis, managing suppliers and coordinating with procurement * Supporting the integration of real-time simulation environments and electrical interfaces (e.g., power supplies, loads, relays, sensors, signal conditioning) * Contributing to risk assessments and FMEAs related to electrical design * Driving continuous improvement to increase the safety, efficiency, and modularity of test platforms WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU Ideally, you bring the following experience and qualifications: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Automation Engineering * Strong understanding of electrical system design, circuit protection, and signal integrity * Solid knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC/EN standards, Machinery Directive, CE marking) * Experience using electrical CAD tools (e.g., EPLAN, Zuken, or equivalent) for schematic design and documentation * Knowledge of electronic circuit design (analog and digital) is a plus * Experience working in aerospace, automotive, or industrial automation is highly desirable * Familiarity with HiL testing, test bench architecture, or EGSE systems is a plus * Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, cost-conscious design mindset * Fluent in English (spoken and written); German is a plus Why you should join us! We want you as a talented Avionics Equipment Technical Owner to help us in our mission by designing, testing, and optimizing avionics equipment, ensuring compliance with mission loads and safety requirements. You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us: * Coordinate the internal design and development of avionics equipment in collaboration with our electronics, mechanical design, thermal and digital engineers * Perform functional validation and qualification of avionics equipment * Move units from first prototypes to Engineering Models, Qualification Models and Flight Models * Flow down and validate requirements to unit level KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In your capacity as an Avionics Equipment Technical Owner, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include: 1. Point of contact and full responsible for one avionics unit 2. Owner of the equipment from concept and breadboard phase to flight model 3. Owner of unit documentation, ICDs and requirements 4. Owner of box level FDIR and FMEA 5. Coordination of all disciplines working on a unit (electronics design engineers, mechanical design engineers, system engineers, test team, EGSE team) 6. Coordination and run of test campaigns (EM, QM, FM) covering functional and environmental tests (vibe, shock, TVAC, EMC) with the environmental load specialists 7. Analysis of test data after test campaigns 8. Definition of roadmap for unit improvement (between models and between flights) 9. Closely working with functional chains (thermal, ECLSS, Propulsion, etc.) to plan system level tests with the units embedded 10. Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in avionics design WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU In the role of Avionics Equipment Technical Owner ideally, you will have the following: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field * Hands-on experience in avionics equipment design, with a focus on aerospace applications or a related field * Proficiency in avionics design tools and software * Understanding of space relevant standards (like ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA-HBK) and regulations * Knowledge of safety-critical design principles * Familiarity with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety (RAMS) aspects : Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault/Failure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR), etc… * Familiarity with environmental and reliability considerations in avionics design * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
