What You'll Do Let's get the tricky part out of the way: this role doesn't fit neatly into a traditional box. It's part legal ops, part product specialist, part solutions architect, and part client whisperer. If you enjoy roles that stay static, this probably isn't it. Your mission is to help our clients, some of the most sophisticated in-house legal teams in the world, get the absolute most out of our platform. * Acting as a thought partner to General Counsels, Legal Operations leaders, and in-house teams - building trusted relationships, addressing tricky pain points, and identifying high-value opportunities for them to scale their use of Legora across their legal function. * Working together with Go To Market and Customer Success in taking full ownership of client relationships - from running pilots with key business units, to onboarding new team members, and ultimately guiding department-wide adoption across corporate legal teams. * Be the voice of in-house users inside Legora - sharing insights from legal ops teams, commercial lawyers, and compliance functions that directly inform product development, roadmap priorities, and strategic direction. * Delivering clear, confident product demos and training that bring the power of our platform to life - whether you're presenting to a GC, rolling out to regional teams, or training legal ops professionals. * Documenting best practices from leading legal departments, contribute to the development of scalable playbooks, and help shape how we grow this function globally. * Confidently helping in-house teams navigate one of the biggest shifts in how corporate legal operates - from evaluating the ROI and efficiency gains of AI to clearly mapping how AI will impact different functions, from contract management to regulatory compliance. What You Bring You come from the world of in-house law; but you've never been content with how things have always been done. You may have worked in a corporate legal department, juggling competing business priorities and doing more with less. Perhaps you've been in legal operations, driving efficiency and transformation initiatives. Maybe you've even moved into legal tech or consultancy, helping in-house teams modernise. Either way, you know how in-house legal teams think, work, and (sometimes) struggle and you're ready to help them level up with technology. * Have a background in law, with experience in an in-house legal team or corporate legal department - ideally with exposure to legal operations, process improvement, or technology implementation. * Are tech-curious and product-savvy. Not necessarily a coder, but passionate about navigating technical conversations, especially around things like generative AI, technology implementation, innovation and productivity. * Communicate clearly and confidently with diverse stakeholders, from General Counsels to business leaders, and from lawyers to engineers. I.e. translating across disciplines is second nature to you. * Bring structure to ambiguity and energy to complexity; and enjoy being the calm, credible presence in a fast-moving environment. * Understand how to evaluate and improve existing processes as a direct result of new and emerging technologies - whether that's streamlining contract workflows, improving matter management, or enhancing compliance processes. * Are proactive, self-directed, and comfortable juggling multiple client relationships at once. * Care deeply about quality, but don't get stuck in perfectionism - you get things done, and you make them better over time. * Understand the commercial realities of in-house life: doing more with limited resources, demonstrating value to the business, balancing risk and commercial objectives, and being a strategic partner rather than just a cost centre. The Role As a Commercial Counsel you will play a central role in supporting one of the fastest-growing legal technology companies globally. You will work closely with our commercial teams, advising on a broad range of matters with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. This role requires a high degree of independence and the ability to operate across multiple time zones, partnering closely with stakeholders to enable deals while managing risk. Legora’s legal function is a forward-deployed, AI-first team working across multiple jurisdictions and legal disciplines. We act as trusted partners to the business, with particular focus on product development, operations, and commercial initiatives. Beyond strong legal judgment, we value curiosity, problem-solving, and a proactive mindset — looking for pragmatic solutions as we help redefine how legal work is done globally. What You'll Do * Act as a commercial legal partner to the business, working closely with senior stakeholders in Growth, Operations, and Procurement on customer and supplier engagements. * Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of customer and supplier contracts, with a strong focus on closing deals efficiently and pragmatically. * Advise on commercial risk allocation, pricing structures, liability, and contractual protections within customer and supplier agreements. Support go-to-market and procurement activities by enabling scalable, repeatable commercial contracting practices. * Address data protection and compliance considerations primarily within the context of customer and supplier contracts, ensuring risks are appropriately managed without slowing execution. * Develop and maintain commercial templates, playbooks, and guidelines to standardise negotiations and improve deal velocity. What You Bring * J.D. (or equivalent) with admission to practice in at least one U.S. state (or another common law jurisdiction). * 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel. * Strong experience negotiating B2B SaaS agreements and supporting commercial teams. You’re an excellent negotiator. * Strong legal judgment and confidence in making decisions independently. * Experience in handling corporate matters and drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. * Experience with data privacy matters, IT security and/or corporate law is a plus. * Your focus is on achieving meaningful business outcomes, translating into actionable advice delivered clearly and comprehensively. * You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment and rapidly evolving business setting. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Legal Operations Specialist in Legora’s New York office, you will play a central role in building and scaling the operational infrastructure of one of the fastest-growing legal technology companies globally. You will work at the intersection of legal, technology, and operations — owning the systems, workflows, and knowledge architecture that enable Legora's legal function and broader organization to operate at scale. A core part of this role is building internal knowledge databases and driving integrations that unlock the full value of Legora's own platform within our organization. This role requires a high degree of independence, strong systems thinking, and the ability to drive cross-functional change across multiple teams and time zones. You will partner closely with Legal, People, Finance, RevOps, Product, and Customer Success, becoming an integral part of how Legora operationalizes its legal and commercial knowledge. You will report to the General Counsel, based at our Stockholm headquarters. Legora’s legal function is a forward-deployed, AI-first team working across multiple jurisdictions and legal disciplines. We act as trusted partners to the business, with particular focus on product development, operations, and commercial initiatives. As a legal technology company, we hold ourselves to the highest standard when it comes to our own legal operations — and we expect this role to help us lead by example. Beyond strong operational judgment, we value curiosity, problem-solving, and a proactive mindset. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Own the design and build-out of Legora's internal legal knowledge databases, ensuring that contracts, policies, playbooks, and institutional knowledge are structured, searchable, and organized. * Drive integrations between Legora's own platform and internal systems (CLM, CRM, HRIS, finance tools) to maximize the value Legora derives from its own product and ensure seamless data flows across the organisation. * Establish and maintain structured contract management infrastructure — including metadata schemas, parent-child contract linking, deduplication standards, and a deviation/exception registry for non-standard terms. * Design and implement cross-functional handoff protocols so that relevant contract terms, exceptions, and commitments automatically surface to Finance, RevOps, Product, and Customer Success at the point of execution. * Partner with the Legal, People, and Operations teams to identify process bottlenecks, drive continuous improvement, and ensure legal operations practices reflect Legora's standards and values. * Contribute to governance, compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives, ensuring that operational infrastructure supports Legora's obligations as it scales internationally. WHAT YOU BRING * 2-5 years of experience in legal operations, contract management, or a related operational role within a law firm or in-house legal team. * Deep, granular understanding of technology stacks, APIs, data architecture, and system interoperability. Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, or building legal technology tools, knowledge management systems, or integration layers is essential. * Demonstrable experience in legal operations, legal technology, or a related technical-operational field. A relevant degree (e.g., law, computer science, engineering, or information systems) is meritorious but not required. Prior experience in knowledge management teams or in supporting legal professionals is particularly valued. * Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional change and influence senior stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Product, and Operations. * Experience in high-growth, international, or technology-driven organizations is highly valued. * You are operationally minded and solutions-oriented — you focus on building infrastructure that enables the business while appropriately managing risk. * You communicate complex operational and legal concepts clearly and translate them into structured, actionable processes. * You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and are comfortable operating with autonomy and ambiguity. * A deep technical and genuine excitement about building with technology is meritorious. You are likely not content to be a consumer of tools — you want to get under the hood, write code where needed, and architect systems that push the boundaries of what a best-in-class legal operations function looks like.
