We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to
empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own
products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of
companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their
financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US,
Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C.,
London and Amsterdam.
This Week in Fintech is the largest global fintech media company with 200,000+ subscribers to a publication that provides
insights, news and connections within the financial technology ecosystem. What began as a newsletter focused on curating and
sharing industry updates, trends and innovations in the fintech space has grown to include a range of products including podcasts,
events, conferences and an online community to bring together fintech professionals, investors, and enthusiasts worldwide.
Building on top of our deeply established and highly respected newsletter ecosystem, we are actively expanding into a full-scale,
elite newsroom operation. We are investing heavily in original journalism, breaking news and deep enterprise reporting. This is a
rare opportunity to join a growing team at the ground floor and directly shape the voice and direction of a major business
publication.
We are looking for an enterprising, sharp and relentless full-time reporter to help us build the front page of Fintech. Whether
you are an experienced business journalist or a standout newsroom intern ready to make your mark, we care about your financial

You won’t be stuck rewriting corporate PR or chasing incremental aggregates from a desk all day. You will have the autonomy to own
a beat, develop deep sources and break the stories that executives, founders and investors read every morning. We want a reporter
who is not afraid to pick up the phone, knock on doors and go out into the field to meet sources face-to-face to find the real
story.

ABOUT US Legora is redefining how legal work gets done. Not built for lawyers, built with them. We work alongside the world’s best legal teams, who expect excellence, precision, and speed, and we hold ourselves to the same bar. Our AI-native workspace lets legal professionals move faster, think more clearly, and operate with sharper precision. By analysing thousands of documents in minutes and powering end-to-end workflows, we cut through complexity, teams can focus on what matters: judgment, strategy, and outcomes. 1,000+ customers across 50+ countries trust us, including Cleary Gottlieb, Goodwin, Linklaters, White & Case, Dentons, and Barclays. We’ve scaled to $100M+ in ARR, with teams across Europe, North America and APAC, and continue to expand through acquisitions including Qura, Walter AI and Graceview. We partner with world-class performers: including Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees, Ludvig Åberg (and his caddie), and campaigns featuring Jude Law. Joining Legora means three things. * We lean in: ownership over titles, outcomes over intentions. * We fight for excellence: high standards, direct, ego-free feedback. * We grow together: as a team and with our customers. Mission before ego. Everyone contributes. No one coasts. If you’re driven by impact, pace, and raising the bar. This is the place. The Role We’re seeking a Director of Communications based in New York City to build and scale Legora’s external narrative in North America across press, exec communications, thought leadership, and strategic storytelling. You’ll own how we show up publicly — shaping the stories, messages, and moments that define the category and cement Legora as the most credible and exciting voice in AI for legal work. Reporting to the VP Communications in Stockholm, you’ll be embedded with the local Marketing and GTM teams, and work closely with teams across Marketing, Product, GTM, Legal, and Leadership, to translate what we’re building — and why it matters — into narratives that resonate with customers, media, talent, partners, and the broader industry. You’re a storyteller with precision, taste, and the ability to translate complexity into clarity. You thrive at the intersection of strategy and craft — able to zoom out to narrative architecture and zoom in to sentence-level detail. You’re fast, structured, and obsessed with building trust through truth. Communications is one of Legora’s most strategic levers for shaping the category. In a space full of noise and speculation, credibility is currency — and narrative discipline is a competitive advantage. The stories you create will influence how the industry understands AI for legal work, and why Legora is defining the frontier. If we succeed, it will be because our story is clear, our voice is trusted, and our narrative sets the pace for the category — not the other way around. What You’ll Do COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY & NARRATIVE DEVELOPMENT * Build and execute Legora’s communications strategy for North America across earned channels. * Define messaging frameworks that clarify our category, technology, and customer value. * Develop and protect a consistent narrative that scales across teams and touch-points. MEDIA RELATIONS & PRESS OPERATIONS * Cultivate strong relationships with reporters covering AI, business, technology, and the legal industry. * Own the end-to-end press pipeline: pitches, briefings, media kits, and press activation moments. * Prepare spokespeople with clear talking points, briefing documents, and ongoing narrative coaching. EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS * Partner directly with Leadership to craft high-signal external comms: speeches, op-eds, keynote scripts, long-form posts, and interviews. * Ensure a consistent voice across channels, reinforcing credibility, clarity, and category leadership. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & CONTENT CREATION * Turn complex ideas (AI capabilities, legal workflows, customer adoption, product architecture) into accessible, compelling stories. * Develop long-form narrative assets: white-papers, announcements, deep dives, and industry POVs. * Develop campaigns around launches, milestones, and category moments. ISSUES MANAGEMENT & STRATEGIC POSITIONING * Monitor category conversations, emerging risks, competitive narratives, and external debates. * Advise leadership on communications decisions that require nuance, judgment, and speed. * Ensure Legora shows up with truth, clarity, and authority. MEASUREMENT & OPTIMIZATION * Build a measurement framework for communications impact across reach, sentiment, share of voice, and narrative resonance. * Run experiments with formats, channels, and message angles — scaling what moves the needle. * Maintain a library of messaging, resources, and reusable story assets. What You Bring * 5–7+ years of experience in communications, PR, editorial, or strategic narrative roles — ideally in high-growth, technical, or product-led environments. * Demonstrated experience owning press narratives and securing coverage that shapes perception. * Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to simplify complexity. * Ability to build repeatable messaging frameworks and communication systems. * Experience preparing executives for media, speeches, or public commentary. * Analytical mindset with the ability to measure sentiment, coverage quality, and message pull-through. * Fluent English communication skills. What’s In It For You * Global collaboration: Partner with teams and clients across Europe, APAC, and North America. * Competitive package: Comprehensive salary, benefits, and tools for success. * Meaningful work: Your efforts shape how thousands of lawyers use AI daily. * In-person environment: Union Square office designed for ambitious builders and company provided lunch daily. * Benefits & Perks: We invest in our people with a comprehensive, thoughtfully designed benefits package: Medical, Dental & Vision * Multiple medical plan options through Aetna and Kaiser Permanente * HSA or Healthcare FSA (based on plan selection) * Dental plans via MetLife * Vision plans via Vision Care Family Support * Generous parental leave * Free access to Maven Clinic * Dependent Care FSA * Free One Medical membership for employees and dependents Additional Perks * Pre-tax commuter benefits * Life Insurance + STD/LTD * 401(K) with generous company match * Unlimited PTO * Robust voluntary benefits, including identity protection (via Aura), legal coverage via MetLife, pet savings programs, and more Legora is an Equal Opportunity Employer At Legora, we believe great teams are built on diversity of thought and experience. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and committed to creating an inclusive, high-performance culture where everyone can do their best work. We welcome people of all backgrounds and don’t discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
About Abound We’re redefining consumer lending in the UK, and beyond. Using advanced AI and Open Banking data, we make fair, affordable personal finance available to more people. While traditional lenders rely almost entirely on credit scores, we look at the full financial picture - how much you spend, and what you can afford to repay to build a deeper, more accurate understanding of each customer's unique financial situation. And we've shown it works at scale. We’ve issued over £1.3bn in loans directly to customers while delivering market-leading credit performance - for every 10 defaults the industry expects, we see only 3. We also reached profitability just 2.5 years after launch. Backed by £2bn+ of funding from top-tier investors including Citi, GSR Ventures, and Deutsche Bank, we’re recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs (Sifted, CNBC). Now, we’re expanding into new markets and product lines - and we’re looking for ambitious people who want to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with us. About the role We are hiring a Retail Finance Risk Lead to take full ownership of risk management across our retail finance product suite. This is a senior, hands-on role with broad scope – spanning credit decisioning, credit risk measurement, fraud risk management, product design, funding compliance, merchant throttling, and impairment – with direct accountability for how risk is identified, measured, managed, and reported. The successful candidate will act as the business’s primary risk authority for retail finance products, working closely with product, data science, finance, and senior leadership teams. This role requires both strategic thinking and a willingness to get into the detail: you will set the framework and own the outcomes. What you'll be doing Credit Decisioning & Risk Measurement * Define and maintain credit risk metrics, concentration limits, and portfolio triggers, ensuring consistent measurement across products. * Drive risk-based analysis to inform appetite, cut-off adjustments, and portfolio strategy. * Manage merchant concentration risk and manage the risk framework Product Design & Commercialisation * Act as the risk lead counterpart for new product development, providing risk input from concept through to launch. * Assess and articulate risk-return trade-offs to support commercially sound product design decisions. * Identify and monitor novel product risks (e.g. Section 75, merchant concentration) and ensure appropriate governance is in place. Funding & Compliance * Ensure adherence to internally defined risk limits and externally defined triggers arising from funding and warehouse arrangements. * Act as a key point of contact for funders, auditors, and advisors on credit and product risk matters. * Lead risk-related workstreams for funding due diligence, warehouse renewals, and external reviews. Merchant Throttling * Own the merchant risk framework, including criteria for throttling, suspension, or enhanced monitoring of merchant partners. * Develop and maintain oversight of merchant-level concentration and performance metrics. * Work closely with commercial and product teams to balance growth objectives with risk limits. Impairment & Provisioning * Oversee the impairment framework, including IFRS 9 staging logic, ECL model governance, and assumptions. * Partner with finance to ensure provisions are accurate, defensible, and well-communicated. * Monitor forward-looking indicators and macroeconomic overlays, escalating where necessary. Governance & Reporting * Provide clear, structured risk updates to Product Steering Committees, Board Risk Committees, and senior management. * Proactively identify emerging risks and ensure timely escalation and remediation. * Define and maintain standardised reporting frameworks, ensuring consistency and comparability as the business scales. Who you are * A decisive, commercially minded risk professional with full-stack ownership mentality – comfortable setting strategy and executing in the detail. * Technically strong across credit risk disciplines: decisioning, modelling, impairment, funding, and portfolio monitoring. * Naturally collaborative, able to work effectively with data scientists, product managers, finance, and senior leadership. * Confident challenging assumptions and narratives constructively, with a track record of influencing outcomes. * Highly organised and execution-focused, with strong stakeholder management skills. * Credible and composed when engaging with funders, auditors, and board-level audiences. * At least 3 years’ experience working directly with a relevant retail finance product such as BNPL, Unsecured Personal Loans, retail credit, or point-of-sale finance – with a strong understanding of the product lifecycle and associated risk dynamics. * Broad credit risk expertise spanning decisioning, risk measurement, product risk, funding/warehouse compliance, and impairment/IFRS 9. * Experience owning or contributing to impairment frameworks (IFRS 9 ECL), including staging logic, model governance, and macroeconomic overlays. * Familiarity with merchant risk management or B2B2C risk structures is advantageous. * Track record of engaging with funders, auditors, or rating agencies on risk and credit performance topics. * Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex risk topics clearly to senior and non-technical audiences. * Comfortable working closely with data scientists and getting into quantitative detail, without necessarily being a practitioner modeller. Why Abound * Own a genuinely broad and senior risk role with full accountability across the risk lifecycle for retail finance. * Work closely with the CRO, senior leadership, product teams, and external stakeholders in a high-trust, high-visibility position. * Help shape the risk framework for a fast-scaling fintech expanding into new markets and product lines. * Real responsibility and impact from day one, with the opportunity to build and develop a team as the business grows. What we offer * Everyone owns a piece of the company – equity. * Hybrid working with 3 days a week in the office. * 25 days’ holiday a year, plus 8 bank holidays. * 2 paid volunteering days per year. * One month paid sabbatical after 4 years. * Employee loan. * Free gym membership. * Team wellness budget to be active together – set up a yoga class, a tennis lesson or go bouldering.
