Tibber is not your typical energy supplier. Our tech helps hundreds of thousands of households lower and shift their energy
consumption to more sustainable and affordable hours. We’re here to accelerate the energy transition – not in theory, but in
everyday life.
Being on a mission to change an industry, fundamentally also means being prepared for the unexpected. We do what others say can’t
be done, try and fail together but never lose sight of our users. We work passionately with sustainability and a circular
approach, both with our own products and in the entire ecosystem that is affected by everything we do.
Starting out with two passionate founders in 2016, we're now 300+ people working for Tibber in our offices in Stockholm, Førde,
Berlin, Amsterdam, and Oslo. We will continue to grow within our markets, and we are thrilled to be backed by investors like
Balderton Capital, Eight Roads Ventures, Founders Fund, Summa, and Schibsted.
Diversity of thought fuels better products, so we welcome applicants of every background, identity and lived experience. Ready to

Job description About the role/team Independent journalism and free speech depend on people being able to do their work without being watched, hacked, or silenced. That's where this role comes in. Based across Sweden and Norway, our security team designs, builds, and maintains the cybersecurity tools and services that protect Schibsted, our journalists, and the products we deliver to our customers. We work closely with the rest of the organisation: journalists, editors, IT, AI, legal, infrastructure, network, and collaboration software teams. What you will be doing In this role, you will split your time between two missions: building the security infrastructure that protects the company, and working directly with journalists, including those operating in high-risk environments in order to keep their sources, communications, and digital assets safe. * Design and implement security systems and architecture: network segmentation, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, endpoint protection. * Work with journalists and editors to assess and reduce risk in their workflows, communications, and equipment. Including support for missions in the field. * Build security protocols that protect journalistic content and communications from unauthorised access, interception, or tampering. * Lead incident response together with our NOC and SOC — threat hunting, investigation, and digital forensics. * Run security assessments and turn findings into concrete risk-reduction strategies. What we are looking for * Academic background in cybersecurity, computer science, or similar. * 1–3 years in an IT security role, with hands-on experience implementing security controls and tooling. * Working knowledge of SIEM, EDR, DLP, and vulnerability scanning tools. * Solid grasp of networking, operating systems, and cloud platforms. * Comfort communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position is based in Oslo and requires regular interactions with journalists. Fluency in English and Norwegian is required. What we offer you: You will join a young team where the work is real from day one. There is room to take ownership, shape how we do things, and grow fast. And the work matters, what we do keeps journalists and their sources safe and help keep free speech protected. ABOUT THE COMPANY Independent Journalism – That’s our business Schibsted Media Group includes some of the strongest media brands in the Nordics, including VG, Aftenposten, E24, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Omni, and Podme. Every day, nearly seven million people turn to our editorial media to stay informed, engaged, and entertained through text, audio, images, and video. The trust of our users is crucial to us. To maintain this trust, we prioritise truth, verifiability, and transparency. Our 2,800 employees are based in Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Stockholm, Helsinki, Krakow, and Gdansk. We rely on all of them to succeed, through close collaboration across editorial teams, product and technology environments, and subscription and advertising units. What began as Christian Schibsted's small printing business in Christiania (now Oslo) in 1839 has grown into one of the leading media companies in the Nordics. For nearly two centuries, our journalism has empowered people, built communities, exposed abuses of power, and strengthened democracies. Our democracies depend on independent journalism. That’s our business.
JOIN THE DATA & AI JOURNEY AT SCHIBSTED MEDIA Data and AI are becoming increasingly important in how we build better products, support smarter decisions, and create value across Schibsted Media. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to help shape reliable, scalable, and well-governed data products used across our media brands. In this role, you will work in the intersection of data engineering, analytics engineering, and platform thinking. You will help us build trusted data models, improve how we work with data pipelines, and guide technical direction for a team working closely with stakeholders across Finance, HR, Product, Subscription, and other data & AI teams. You will join the Data & AI organization in the Data Product Engineering team, where we build data capabilities that help teams across Schibsted Media make better decisions, create trusted data products, and enable future AI use cases. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for someone who can be both hands-on and guiding. You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but you should be able to create clarity, make pragmatic technical decisions, and help other engineers grow. You will play a key role in shaping how we build data as a product. This includes creating data models that are reliable, well-documented, and designed for real use cases, not just pipelines that move data. As a senior member of the team, you will also help create good engineering practices, mentor more junior engineers, and collaborate closely with adjacent teams working on data platforms and shared tooling. As part of a newly formed team of Data / Analytics Engineers, you'll have the opportunity to influence how we work, shape our engineering culture, and make a real impact from day one. We're now looking for 2–3 more engineers to join us on the journey. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand needs, clarify tradeoffs, and deliver pragmatic solutions * Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow * Develop scalable and maintainable data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases * Help define best practices for data modeling, transformation, testing, documentation, and governance * Mentor junior engineers and support the team in making good technical decisions * Work with adjacent Data & AI teams to align on platform capabilities, standards, and shared ways of working * Improve reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability of our data solutions * Contribute to a culture of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR MUST HAVE * Solid experience as a Data Engineer or similar role * Strong SQL skills and good understanding of data warehousing concepts * Experience with data modeling and building data products for analytics or reporting * Experience with modern data transformation and orchestration tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow or similar) * Ability to take ownership and make pragmatic technical decisions in ambiguous and evolving environments * Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. English is our main working language. * Collaborative mindset and ability to work well across teams NICE TO HAVE * Experience with Python or scripting for data engineering workflows * Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and version control best practices * Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure * Experience with data quality, observability, governance, or access control * Experience as a senior engineer in a cross-functional environment WHY JOIN US? * High ownership and influence in shaping technical direction and ways of working * Opportunity to shape trusted data products with real impact across Schibsted Media * Flexible working hours and hybrid work options with strong trust and autonomy * International environment with offices in Oslo, Stockholm, and Krakow * Strong learning culture with learning budget and active engineering & AI communities * Access to Schibsted’s media products, including premium news and podcasts ABOUT YOU You enjoy turning messy problems into clear, maintainable solutions. You care about technical quality, but you also understand that good engineering is about tradeoffs, communication, and delivering value. You are comfortable working in an environment where not everything is fully defined yet. You help create structure, bring others along, and make the team better through your technical judgment and collaboration. When you apply, we'd love to get to know the real you. We value authentic applications and are much more interested in your own thoughts, experiences, and motivations than polished AI-generated content. If you want to help build trusted data products that enable better decisions and future AI capabilities across Schibsted Media, we would love to hear from you.
