Are you looking for a job that’s a bit out of the ordinary – at a modern shipyard where things are always happening?
Then we’ve got the job for you! In 2–3 weeks, a major project will start with up to 600 skilled workers on site, and we need more industrial pipefitters to join the team. You will work throughout the year, with the possibility of extension.

Several European professionals are already part of our international team. Position Summary Ulmo AS is looking for a skilled Pipefitter / Welder to join our technical team in Ålesund. In this role, you will work on a wide variety of industrial and infrastructure projects across Norway. Your work will involve the fabrication, installation, and welding of pipe systems and steel structures for industrial installations. The position offers a combination of hands-on technical work, project variety, and opportunities for professional development within a growing technology company. SPATCO is looking for an experienced welder & pipefitter to join the petroleum construction team. This role is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of facility equipment including presses, plating systems, paint line conveyors, compressors, and related mechanical systems. Responsibilities: * Install and maintain equipment throughout the facility including polish heads, plating hoists, pumps, presses, paint line conveyor systems, and compressors * Maintain and troubleshoot motor control systems including pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems * Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues with Power & Free systems and equipment rack * Read and accurately interpret blueprints and schematics * Perform welding for repair work as needed * Safely operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and aerial work platforms up to 60 feet * Utilize and work with maintenance trades and components such as mechanical, welding, fabrication, and pipefitting * Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to all safety and quality standards * Work in variable temperatures indoors and outdoors ranging from subzero to 150°F * Wear required PPE including respirator and Level B chemical suit when necessary * Employees are required to provide their own tools * Other duties as assigned Shift is 8 hours. May work overtime depending on business need. Two 10-minute breaks per shift and a 30-minute meal break. Qualifications: * Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test and respirator exam for negative pressure respiratory protection * Must be clean shaven in areas where a respirator seal is required * Must be able to communicate in English * Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills * Ability to work within a team setting * Must be able to demonstrate understanding of health and safety compliance training programs and departmental work instructions written in English * High school diploma or equivalent required * Technical or vocational training preferred * Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Physical Demands: * Lift a minimum of 50 lbs * Work in awkward positions including lying on back and working overhead, inside presses * Must be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet and on top of equipment safely when needed * Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach above head and below shoulder level * Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment * If corrective lenses are required, must be able to wear glasses (contacts may be restricted in certain conditions) * Weight limitation: must not exceed 310 lbs.
