With continuous and sustainable growth of our business we take the opportunity to strengthen our expertise and capacity with a new position with focus on structural analysis and numerical simulations Main focus will be on mechanical stress analysis, but also fluid mechanics simulations and dielectric simulations will be within the scope on a project basis.
You will be part of Hitachi Energy’s competence center for fiber-reinforced polymer composites and silicone elastomers in Piteå. We are a team with world-class expertise and experience in realization, verification, and production of polymer composite products. The main products are structural and electrically insulating components used in high voltage transformers and switchgear which are vital for the transition to fossil free energy. Our customers are all over the world, both inside and outside Hitachi.
How you’ll make an impact
Stress analysis and sizing of composite structures subject to mechanical and thermal loads to support new product development and order design.
Simulation of our manufacturing processes (e.g. wet filament winding, oven cure, silicone extrusion) to develop process expertise further and support process optimization and increased robustness.
Lead projects and activities related to development of design tools and design criteria.
Documentation of designs and review of test results to improve design criteria.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. design, quality, SCM, production) to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver robust solutions, both within our local/global organization and in cooperation with customers, suppliers, and academia.
Apply robust analytical and critical thinking to solve complex challenges and to perform comprehensive risk reviews.
Your background
University engineering degree in composites engineering, applied mechanics, applied physics or similar.
Expertise in Finite Element Analysis including experience with composite structures with layered anisotropic materials.
Ability to cooperate and communicate both with experts at an academic level, as well as colleagues and project members with expertise in other areas
Genuine interest and curiosity about technology.
Ability and willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills.
Team player who finds it easy to cooperate with others.
Good communication skills in both spoken and written English and a basic understanding of Swedish are mandatory requirements.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR As a Hydrometallurgy Intern, you will support process development and R&D efforts in leaching, kinetics, and mass transfer for the recovery of critical battery materials. You will work closely with experienced engineers to analyze reaction mechanisms, optimize scaling parameters, and assess process efficiencies through experimentation and simulation. YOUR PROFILE What You Bring to the Table * Currently pursuing or completed a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. * Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, diffusion principles, and hydrometallurgical processes. * Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Python, OriginLab, or MATLAB) for kinetic and statistical analysis. * Hands-on laboratory experience in chemical or metallurgical processing is desirable. * Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical software for experimental design and process optimization. * Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as in a team. * Strong problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical mindset. * Fluent in English (both written and spoken). * Nice to have: Experience in chemical process modeling and simulation (HSC Chemistry, ASPEN, or equivalent). Position Purpose The Test & Validation / Compliance Engineering Manager for JCB Access will lead all global test, validation, certification, and compliance activities for the Access product range, ensuring world-class product performance, robustness, and adherence to regulatory standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration * Partner closely with NPIP (New Product Introduction Process) teams to ensure robust validation planning from concept through launch. * Work with Quality, Service, and Current Product Engineering teams to investigate field issues, drive root‑cause analysis, and validate corrective actions. * Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering to validate production processes and ensure compliance at line build. 6. The Senior Battery Simulation & Modelling Engineer will develop and validate advanced simulation models for battery cells, including performance, degradation, thermal, swelling, and mechanical behaviour. The role supports current NMC products, future battery chemistries, and customer-facing simulation solutions. Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) Battery Model Development Develop and maintain simulation models for battery cells, supporting current chemistry products and next-generation chemistries. Performance Modeling Develop and validate performance models, including ECM-based approaches, to predict battery behavior and support BMS applications. Lifetime & Degradation Modeling Develop and calibrate lifetime prediction models to accurately estimate battery aging, performance degradation, and end-of-life behavior. Thermal Modeling Develop 3D thermal simulation models to predict temperature distribution and support thermal management optimization.
