Our development team has 16 people. We work in an agile environment, develop iteratively, and take testing seriously. We have dedicated communities focused on different domains — Data, DevOps, Execution Platform, On-call/Support, and Trading Tooling, among others.

The Role We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join a team building and evolving a modern cloud-based data platform. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and improving data pipelines and services, while also contributing to API design and occasional frontend work where needed. You’ll work across the stack, primarily in Python and AWS, helping to deliver reliable, well-structured data and making it easier for teams to ingest, access, and use it. The focus is on practical delivery: building ingestion and transformation pipelines, exposing data through APIs, and supporting a platform that removes bottlenecks and enables better use of data across the organisation. What You’ll Be Doing * Design, build, and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines in production environments * Develop ingestion and egress patterns to support reliable data access and integration * Work with structured and semi-structured data (e.g. JSON, Parquet) * Build and maintain data models across a cloud data platform * Design and implement APIs to expose data for downstream consumers * Contribute to cloud-based data platform development in AWS * Support lightweight frontend work (React / TypeScript) for data-focused tools where needed * Implement observability practices (logging, monitoring, tracing) across data pipelines and APIs * Improve reliability, performance, and failure handling across the platform * Collaborate with engineers and analysts to deliver data that supports reporting and operational use cases What We’re Looking For * Experience building and supporting data platforms or pipelines in production * Strong Python skills for data processing, transformation, and pipeline development * Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance optimisation * Experience with ETL / ELT design and implementation * Experience working with AWS data services * Experience working with a cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, or similar) * Experience designing and implementing APIs * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with evolving requirements * Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams Nice to Have * Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript * Experience contributing to frontend applications (React) * Familiarity with observability tooling (logging, monitoring, tracing) * Experience with data modelling and metadata management * Exposure to CI/CD practices for data pipelines and services * Experience working in delivery-focused, agile environments Why Join Instil? YOUR IMPACT We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the AI Team working on our AI Medical Companion. Your mission will be to build and optimize the data foundations that power safe, scalable, and impactful AI models. You will work on data infrastructure for LLM, VLM, and RAG-based systems, ensuring our engineers and data scientists can train, evaluate, and deploy AI models efficiently on high-quality, well-structured, and compliant data. Your work will directly support health professionals in delivering better care while improving their work-life balance, ultimately impacting 80 million patients and 400,000 healthcare professionals across Europe. Working in the tech team at Doctolib means building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. WHAT YOU'LL DO Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for AI and machine learning use cases * Implement data ingestion and transformation frameworks that power Retrieval systems and training datasets for LLMs and multimodal models * Architect and manage NoSQL and Vector Databases to store and retrieve embeddings, documents, and model inputs efficiently * Collaborate with ML and platform teams to define data schemas, partitioning strategies, and governance rules that ensure privacy, scalability, and reliability * Integrate unstructured and structured data sources (text, speech, image, documents, metadata) into unified data models ready for AI consumption * Optimize performance and cost of data pipelines using GCP native services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI) * Contribute to data quality and lineage frameworks, ensuring AI models are trained on validated, auditable, and compliant datasets * Continuously evaluate and improve our data stack to accelerate AI experimentation and deployment WHO YOU ARE Before you read on: if you don't have the exact profile described below, but you feel this job description matches your skill set, we still encourage you to apply.
