Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. We're entering the era of agentic science where AI models can now design novel proteins, propose hypotheses, and iterate on experimental results. But they can't run the experiments themselves - that's still a manual, months-long process. We're building the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world. We are one of the fastest growing biotech companies, trusted by leading biopharmas, frontier AI labs, and the techbio companies pushing the field forward. This is a rare chance to help advance some of the most important work happening in biotech today. Our automated lab is powered by a deep software + hardware stack: lab instruments worth millions of USD reverse-engineered into API-controllable hardware, dozens of devices orchestrated through complex workflows, full observability on everything that happens in the lab, processing pipelines for messy physical-world data, and AI systems that troubleshoot production results and accelerate assay development. We’re growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation. ABOUT THE ROLE This is a hybrid sales and customer success role for someone with real scientific depth. You'll be the primary point of contact for customers — from first conversation through ongoing engagement. That means understanding what a protein design team is actually trying to achieve, helping them pick the right assays, making sure their experiments are set up correctly, and translating results back into language that's useful for their programs. The day-to-day: * Running technical sales calls where you discuss binding kinetics, expression systems, and assay design, not just pricing * Onboarding new customers and helping them design their first experiments on the platform * Monitoring ongoing accounts, flagging issues early, and proactively suggesting next steps based on their results * Working with the biology team to troubleshoot when a customer's experiment doesn't go as expected * Identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts — new targets, new assay types, larger campaigns You won't be handed a script. You'll need to understand the science well enough to earn trust from PhD-level protein engineers and CSOs, while also being commercially sharp enough to close deals and grow accounts. Responsibilities * Own the full customer lifecycle: prospecting, technical sales conversations, deal closing, onboarding, and ongoing account management. * Serve as the technical point of contact for customers. Understand their protein engineering goals and recommend the right experiments (binding, expression, thermostability, enzyme activity). * Understand and explain our assay capabilities in depth: BLI, SPR, cell-free expression, and emerging assay types. Know when each is appropriate and what the data means. * Work closely with the biology team to ensure experiments are designed correctly and results are communicated clearly. * Build and maintain a pipeline of commercial opportunities across customer segments: AI-driven protein design companies, biotech startups, pharma R&D teams, and academic labs. * Develop proposals and quotes tailored to customer needs, from small pilot experiments to large-scale data generation campaigns. * Represent Adaptyv at conferences and industry events. Be able to have deep technical conversations at the booth, not just hand out brochures. * Feed customer insights back to the product and biology teams: what assays are people asking for, what's missing, where are we losing deals. What we're looking for * Scientific background in protein engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field. You should be comfortable discussing binding kinetics (KD, kon, koff), expression systems, and assay design without needing to look things up. * Experience in a customer-facing technical role: field application scientist, technical sales, scientific account management, or similar. CRO or biotech vendor experience is a strong plus. * Commercially driven. You care about revenue, pipeline, and closing deals, not just having interesting scientific conversations. * Strong communicator who can adapt to the audience: detailed and technical with a scientist, concise and business-focused with a VP. * Self-starter who can manage their own pipeline and priorities without heavy oversight. * Genuine interest in AI-driven protein design and the companies working in this space. You follow what's happening in the field. Application deadline We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis.

ABOUT BLACK FOREST LABS We’re the team behind Latent Diffusion, Stable Diffusion, and FLUX—foundational technologies that changed how the world creates images and video. We’re creating the generative models that power how people make images and video—tools used by millions of creators, developers, and businesses worldwide. Our FLUX models are among the most advanced in the world, and we’re just getting started. Headquartered in Freiburg, Germany with a growing presence in San Francisco, we’re scaling fast while staying true to what makes us different: research excellence, open science, and building technology that expands human creativity. WHY THIS ROLE Our models are seeing strong demand across startups, AI-native companies, and some of the world's most recognized brands. We need someone who can turn that demand into revenue — fast, consistently, and across a high volume of accounts. This is a full-cycle role: you own everything from first touch to close to renewal and upsell. Some of your accounts will be fast-moving AI startups. Others will be household-name enterprises starting with a focused use case — and it's your job to land them, prove value, and grow them into strategic relationships. If you're already closing deals and want to be at the forefront of the generative AI wave, this is the role. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON * Own the full sales cycle from qualification through close for SMB, startup, AI-native, and enterprise customers — including well-known global brands entering generative AI * Manage a book of 30-50+ accounts, driving retention, adoption, and expansion — turn initial use cases into broader adoption across teams, products, and business units * Qualify inbound leads and run outbound prospecting into target segments * Execute sales campaigns in collaboration with sales leadership * Handle deals across API access and weight licensing * Translate customer needs and usage patterns into expansion opportunities * Collaborate with solutions engineering and product on technical questions WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR You've closed real deals, you move fast, and you're hungry to have outsized impact at a company where your work directly drives revenue. * 2-4 years in a closing sales role, ideally with a BDR-to-AE progression * Experience selling technical products — APIs, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or AI/ML products * Comfortable discussing model capabilities, API integration, and deployment with technical buyers * Track record of managing a high volume of accounts and deals in parallel without dropping balls * Strong outbound instincts — can build pipeline, not just work inbound * Experience in a startup, scale-up, or high-growth environment where process didn't exist yet * Organized, disciplined, and self-directed * Bonus: background in generative AI, image/video generation, or open-source business models HOW WE WORK TOGETHER We’re a distributed team with real offices that people actually use. Depending on your role, you’ll either join us in Freiburg or SF at least 2 days a week (or one full week every other week), or work remotely with a monthly in-person week to stay connected. We’ll cover reasonable travel costs to make this possible. We think in-person time matters, and we’ve structured things to make it accessible to all. We’ll discuss what this will look like for the role during our interview process. Everything we do is grounded in four values: * Obsessed. We are a frontier research lab. The science has to be right, the understanding deep, the product beautiful. * Low Ego. The work speaks. The best idea wins, no matter who said it. Credit is shared. Nobody is above any task. * Bold. We take the ambitious bet. We ship, we do not wait for conditions to be perfect. * Kind. People over politics. We treat each other with genuine warmth. Agency without empathy creates chaos. If this sounds like work you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you. Base Annual Salary: US $130,000 - $180,000 + variable + equity EU €90,000 - €145,000 + variable + equity
