The Project Engineer position is responsible for overseeing various field activities including quality control, health and safety, and client relationships. In addition, Project Engineer also supports proposal development and cost estimating.  Prepares project submittals, schedules and vendor/subcontractor requisitions. This position is an office and field position depending on the current workload and would require some periodic travel.  The position provides a path to project management and executing proposals and jobs independently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop equipment schedules and material takeoffs; prepare specifications and requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors. Collaborate with project planning and field mobilization efforts. Compare bids and recommend the selection of subcontractors and material vendors. Perform site visits on new project opportunities to determine site conditions including available site power utility/facility constraints construction permits; evaluate potential site support contractors and assist with preparation of cost estimates. Conduct material and equipment inspection testing, complete quality control documentation in our shop and general preparation for deployment of equipment and materials to project sites. Guide field teams to ensure project specifications and engineering requirements are being adhered to. Troubleshoot any engineering or logistical problems with the Project Manager and Site Manager. Perform the function of field engineer (as required) including hands on field work and/or field engineering quality control inspection and documentation supervision of field staff and subcontractors review of daily work production reports project schedule progress and budget compliance. Communicate progress or issues with project manager or construction manager. Assist with field construction and/or site operation efforts Prepare detailed drawings and supervise fabrication/construction as needed Verify that daily production reports are maintained Perform field QA/QC to ensure construction work is performed in accordance with design drawings specifications and SOPs Collaborate with project manager and communicate with clients regarding performance progress or issues. Communicate and coordinate work quality or safety concerns to the Project Manager and leadership team as necessary to ensure proper and safe completion of the project. Serve as technical consultant for construction and operations field staff with troubleshooting (remotely or on-site, as applicable). Drive innovation to streamline the cost and performance of our projects, capture information and make overall improvements as learning takes place. Design and develop new methods/equipment to meet project specifications. Travel as necessary to perform position description duties. Expect up to ~10% travel for periods of several days to 2 weeks. Occasionally longer trips may be necessary depending on project tasks and workload. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS 0 - 3 years engineering experience in environmental remediation or related construction industry Advanced degree in Engineering, environmental science or related discipline preferred, or a combination of a 4-year degree in engineering or related discipline combined with professional experience Professional Engineer or EIT with ability to obtain PE preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized while doing so Self-starter with outgoing personality traits; Demonstrated leadership skills Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and MS Project (or similar) CADD Experience preferred Work independently based on general instructions, directions or objectives received from supervisor or project manager(s) Complete assigned tasks based on instructions, directions or objectives received with varying degrees of supervision from supervisor or project manager 40 Hr. Position Summary Maintenance and administration functions in support of field managers in the execution, tracking and management of: labor resources, quality control and quality assurance processes, safety administration, start-up and commissioning administration as well as project tool management.  Work with field leadership, PE and PM on internal coordination necessary for successful completion of projects. Role Responsibilities Ensure daily corporate documentation is completed and up to date, including time cards, daily reports, additional work authorizations, receiving documents, as-built drawings, etc. Coordinate and attend in-house pre-construction meetings. Ensure permits and/or licenses are obtained and current for project. Coordinate timely completion and thorough buy-out procedures on materials and equipment, in conjunction with the Field Manager and purchasing department. Collaborate with Field Manager to ensure Triangulation take-offs are complete, accurate and on time. Responsible for maintaining project as-built drawings. Responsible for the administration of the signed subcontract requirements with respect to conformance with the agreement, contract documents, and change orders. Collaborate with PM and logistics department in the development, preparation, and finalization of RK’s mechanical construction CPM schedule with input from Field Manager(s). Coordinate ordering, processing, and delivery of materials and equipment with vendors and purchasing department. Responsible for proper execution of project quality control procedures during construction process, in accordance with the contract documents and RK’s policies and procedures. Responsible to manage the process of requisitions, return and /or transfer of project tools. Ensure that change order requests (COR’s) are processed in accordance with proper procedures, and that the Field Manager has information required for implementation. Collaborate with Field Manager (s) to provide take-offs for changed conditions. Coordinate and track take-off orders, procurement and release of change order items with the purchasing department and Field Manager(s). Responsible for managing labor resource planning processes which include: development of labor resource charts, tracking and reviewing labor productivity reports and development of short interval plans in conjunction with the LRC (Labor Resource Chart) and LPR (Labor Productivity Report). Responsible for managing and coordination of the start-up and commissioning process. Responsible for job closeout being performed in proper and efficient manner and keeping the Project Manager informed of closeout status including but not limited to: documentation, customer punch-lists, Engineer of Record Observations, start-up and commissioning, tools, demobilization, etc. Collaborate with Field Manager(s) to schedule daily and weekly scope of work activities. Monitor crafts compliance with company/project safety program requirements. Assist safety manger with preparation, documentation, and distribution of accident reports. Maintain proper journeyman to apprentice ratio Execute, supervise and maintain CPMIS. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; a college/university degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is preferred, especially for technical roles. 3–5 years of experience in the construction field, including hands-on experience with steel and piping materials.
