WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Technical Program Manager in the Infrastructure team, you'll play a key role within engineering and drive programs that span across Stripe in the core infrastructure of Stripe's payment systems. You're responsible for the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale technical programs that help to solve complex problems and enable products and infrastructure at scale. You'll deliver outstanding results by building and implementing solutions that scale while protecting our users and serving the business. RESPONSIBILITIES * Work with teams across the organization to understand pain points in their infrastructure usage to find common ideas and work to create solutions that span multiple domains. * Define and produce high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation. * Execute on technical programs that require deep systems and engineering-level knowledge. * Partner with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Engineers, and other Technical Program Managers to define, scope, and drive large programs to conclusion. * Play a key part in shaping the technical design, predicting technical roadblocks by collaborating with engineers, and identifying trade-offs. * Develop, implement, and iterate on program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs to achieve goals with well-defined success criteria. * Elevate the execution muscle of engineering teams around you. Train them to be better at delivery where needed. * Help influence peers and stakeholders and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity. * Leverage data and acquired knowledge to drive strategic decisions at an engineering leadership level. * Create widely circulated plans, driving consistency, clarity, and building alignment across teams. * Operationalize and execute critical cross-functional programs spanning multiple engineering organizations for Infrastructure (Developer Infrastructure, Core Infrastructure, Service Infrastructure). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 5+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management experience. * Experience in core infrastructure such as database, cloud compute, networking, and services. * Understand distributed systems. * Understand cloud architecture. * Excellent problem-solving skills. You digest complex information, distill it, and make recommendations and proposals. * You have a track record of providing program management during all phases of software development from kickoff to launch, demonstrating critical thinking, challenging the norms, and thought leadership. * You have very strong written and verbal communication skills, building strong relationships with stakeholders, teams, and senior leaders around the organization. * You drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions and bring a wealth of experience, opinions, proposals, and best practices. * Experience operating autonomously and rapidly and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Knowledge in software architecture, systems design, and service-oriented architecture * You're comfortable working in a fast-changing environment as the AI tool chain continues to evolve. * You're comfortable working with geographically distributed teams. * Background in technical program management, in software infrastructure * Understanding of cloud infrastructure in compute, networking, databases, and service frameworks is a bonus. * Writing and debugging SQL is a plus.

They additionally drive company-wide refactoring and architectural improvements to ensure that products can scale, evolve, and continue to meet the needs of our customers. ABOUT THE TEAM The group is responsible for offering data-serving infrastructure spanning across data warehouse analytics, streaming analytics, and search capabilities. The stack is supported by a collection of internally developed large-scale distributed services and several popular open-source technologies like Trino and Presto, Apache Pinot, Hive Metastore, Elasticsearch, etc. The systems we own support all of the data-serving needs of high-scale services and thousands of individual Stripes across the company. We process hundreds of thousands of search and analytics-shaped queries on petabytes of data ingested through real-time streaming and large-batch ingestion pipelines. We are the data-serving layer for one of the largest financial data lakes in the world. We're looking for a manager who is excited about Data Serving architecture and leading a team to solve challenging distributed systems problems, as well as developing empathetic partnerships with other Stripe teams to understand their use cases and unlock new capabilities. WHAT YOU'LL DO RESPONSIBILITIES • Work on a high-visibility team and be part of shaping the long-term Data Serving strategy at Stripe • Work with engineers and other leaders at Stripe to understand opportunities to better leverage Apache Pinot at scale • Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical quality, reliability, and ease of use • Lead and manage processes to help the team do its best work and engage effectively with the rest of Stripe • Recruit great engineers, in collaboration with Stripe's recruiting team • Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe's engineering management team WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.
