At Qliro we deliver safe and simple payments. We are a dedicated partner to our merchants who serve their customers every day. We
believe that if our merchants grow, we grow. We are a company of dedicated, friendly and highly competent people that together
have redefined what Qliro and payments can be. We are now on a journey of scaling our business both here in Sweden and the
Nordics.
We’re looking for a Senior Tech Lead to own the technical direction of our Credit & Fraud team, the team at the center of Qliro’s
Pay Later platform. What we do here shapes whether customers can pay in a way that actually works for them, and whether we protect
them from taking on debt they can’t handle. It’s a dual responsibility, and we take both sides seriously.
We’re rebuilding the next generation of this system from the ground up, designed to handle a significant increase in transaction
volumes as we scale. Part of what you’ll lead is making this platform ready to operate beyond the Nordics, so the architectural
decisions you make now will need to hold up across multiple markets. We’re in the early stages of exploring how AI can help us
make better credit and fraud decisions, and we’re honest that this is genuinely complex territory. Credit is one of the most
regulated areas when it comes to AI: explainability, fairness, and auditability aren’t optional. We want someone who finds that
complexity interesting, not someone who pretends it isn’t there.
You’ll own the technical direction of the team and write production-grade .NET yourself, not occasionally, but regularly. You’ll
make architectural decisions you can defend, drive performance and scale from the start, and treat observability and decision
traceability as first-class concerns, not afterthoughts.
Credit and fraud touch nearly everything at Qliro, which means you’ll work across a wide range of stakeholders: product, risk,
compliance, other engineering teams. You’ll be the person who can hold a technical position in a room full of people with
competing priorities, make a call under ambiguity, and bring clarity when there’s none. You’ll understand the regulatory and
compliance landscape well enough to know what constraints you’re building within.
You’ll set others up to succeed. Not in a formal, structured way, but in the way that actually matters: sharing hard-won
knowledge, asking the right questions, and making the engineers around you better at their craft.
or in a high-transaction financial environment where you’ve developed that instinct.
good engineering, they’re part of it.
one system while keeping it running, and you bring the mindset to finish that job rather than work around it.
precious about being challenged on them.
Engineering ownership here is real. Engineers make calls that matter and are trusted to defend them. How your team works day to
day — how often you’re in the office, how you structure your time — is something teams decide for themselves. We’re based in
Stockholm, but we’ve found that trusting teams to figure out their own rhythm works better than a company-wide policy.

WHAT WE DO AT QLIRO At Qliro we deliver safe and simple payments. We are a dedicated partner to our merchants who serve their customers every day. We believe that if our merchants grow, we grow. We are a company of dedicated, friendly and highly competent people that together have redefined what Qliro and payments can be. We are now on a journey of scaling our business both here in Sweden and the Nordics. WHAT YOUR TEAM DOES Do you want to own the product behind every credit and fraud decision Qliro makes? We’re looking for a senior Product Manager to lead our Credit & Fraud team, our platform that protects Qliro’s payment flows through credit assessments and fraud detection, while keeping the customer journey smooth. Credit & Fraud is a backend-focused, in-house team responsible for our credit engine, our integrations with credit information providers, our fraud detection capabilities, and the internal interface our fraud officers use to investigate cases. It sits squarely on the transactional payment path, processing tens of thousands of credit and fraud checks every day under strict requirements for speed, accuracy and uptime, and runs a containerized microservices architecture with daily production deployments. This is a team that delivers reliably and has real room to grow into a more proactive, roadmap-driven way of working. That’s where you come in: you’ll set the direction for the tech team, build its roadmap, and bring our Credit-, Fraud- and Tech-teams together so that lending and risk decisions and the platform that runs them move forward as one. WHAT YOU WILL DO: • Own and set the roadmap, vision and KPIs • Lead an in-house backend development team and follow an agile way of working together with them • Build bridges between our Data- Credit- , Fraud- and Tech- team, turning a range of stakeholder needs into one clear plan • Be the expert on how credit assessment and fraud detection work at Qliro — the credit engine, the provider integrations, and the products they power. • Protect the speed, accuracy and uptime the payment path depends on, while moving the roadmap forward • Use qualitative and quantitative insight to improve credit and fraud outcomes WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM: • A senior PM with a track record of owning backend or platform products, ideally ones on a critical path • Strong at stakeholder management, turning demanding senior stakeholders into alignment • Comfortable using AI in your daily work and keen to drive innovation with it — we work with Claude, and we expect our PMs to lead the way • Experienced building products in an agile team • Experienced with credit issuance / lending — you understand how credit decisioning works and the stakeholders around it is beneficial • Experienced within fast moving tech companies and/or financial services, where lending or fraud/risk experience is a clear advantage • Fluent in spoken and written English and Swedish WOW in everything we do Qliro is the place for you who are curious, passionate and love collaboration. Together we have the power to create wow in everything we do. Feel comfortable being you, bringing your own unique perspectives. At Qliro there’s a place for you whoever you are — differences are a strength. We love flexibility and remote work, and we also believe in the power of meeting in real life. With a mix of working remotely and collaborating in the office, we believe in a flexible workplace that suits both you and Qliro. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOUR NEXT ROLE? WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO LEADS AND SETS TECHNICAL DIRECTION IN EQUAL MEASURE. SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE HARD CALLS, NAVIGATE BUSINESS TRADE-OFFS, AND STILL WALK INTO A ROOM AND HAVE A GENUINELY USEFUL CONVERSATION ABOUT ARCHITECTURE, CREDIT DECISIONING, OR HOW AI IS CHANGING THE WAY GREAT ENGINEERING TEAMS WORK. THAT COMBINATION IS RARE. THAT'S WHY WE'RE WRITING THIS. FEW COMPANIES AT THIS STAGE HAVE THIS MUCH COOL STUFF AHEAD OF THEM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE FOUNDATION IS BUILT. THE REAL EXPANSION STARTS NOW. We've already helped a lot of people in debt take back control of their finances. But we're moving to a much larger scale, extending the journey toward lasting financial stability and wellbeing for more people across Europe. We're profitable. We're regulated as a kreditmarknadsbolag, a licence that lets us operate across the entire EU. Germany is growing fast and Sweden and Finland is strong markets. Our 2030 ambition is to be a pan-European company. That future is genuinely exciting and not fully written yet. The team is small and intentionally so. We're not trying to build a massive organisation. We'd rather have fewer people who want to do the exceptional and sometimes the unthinkable. People who trust each other, move fast and care about doing things properly. That's the culture we've built and it's something we're protective of. AI is a big part of how we work. Not just as a strategy, but something that's lived and breathed across engineering, analytics, operations and product development. We're building internal tooling on frontier models and we believe the way strong product and engineering organisations operate is changing quickly. This role requires someone who genuinely believes that too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY IS You'll own the full technology function. That means setting direction, building the team, making trade-offs between speed and quality, and being a real contributor in leadership discussions about the business, not just the technical ones. This role is inherently cross-functional. The CTO's scope isn't tech alone, it's how technology creates value across every part of the business. How engineering decisions shape customer behaviour and the product experience. How technical choices affect our ability to expand, comply, and compete. We don't really think of "the business" and "tech" as separate conversations. You'll be close to the work. Not because we expect you to write production code every day, but because we think good technical leadership requires genuine proximity. Something that's just lived and breathed, not performed. You must be the kind of person who finds that energising rather than beneath them. The problems ahead of us are not just engineering problems. They're business problems, AI problems, regulatory problems and organisational problems at the same time. Credit decisioning across markets. Payments infrastructure. Scaling internationally. Multilingual AI systems. Understanding how customers actually behave and interact with financial products. Building a team that stays strong as we grow. You'll need to hold all of that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT WE THINK MATTERS You've been here before. You've sat in a leadership team, made decisions that affected the whole business and have managed other leaders. You've scaled an organisation from scrappy to structured, without losing what made it good. If your experience is primarily hands-on engineering management, this probably isn't the right next step. You've scaled a modern B2C product company in fintech, lending, payments or another regulated financial environment where product, risk and engineering constantly influence each other. You understand the business well enough to have a real opinion in any room, not just the technical ones. You lead well. Not in a "strong leader" the LinkedIn way. People actually want to work for you and with you. You make decisions, give direction, and create clarity without creating politics. You understand systems, trade-offs and leverage. You're comfortable making difficult calls with incomplete information and you don't need the picture to be fully clear before you act. You care about impact. Not just shipping things but actually moving the needle for customers and the business. You know what good looks like and it bothers you when things aren't and you don't really know how to turn that off. That's just how you're wired. And you're genuinely excited by AI. Not just following the discourse, but actually building with it, thinking about it, and probably annoying people at dinner parties with it. You're the person who can't stop thinking about what it changes. For products, for engineering teams, for financial services, and probably for a lot of other things too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technically, we work with TypeScript, Python, Go, GraphQL, React Native, Kubernetes, BigQuery and GCP. The stack matters less than the judgment you bring to it. This role is based in Stockholm. We're at a stage where leadership needs to be embedded, close to the teams and part of how the culture develops. That's not negotiable, but we think if this role is right for you, it won't feel like a compromise. We offer a competitive salary and meaningful equity. This is real skin in the game, we're profitable and growing, and we want you to feel that. If this sounds like the kind of problem you want to work on, we'd like to hear from you.
