ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a software engineer with expertise in calibration systems for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots. Your contributions will focus on designing and building a calibration pipeline for a growing fleet of vehicles. You will contribute towards a critical foundational piece of our AV program by ensuring that every vehicle is able to leverage a multi-sensor, multi-modal representation of the world to navigate through it. In this role you will exercise engineering excellence to unlock both developer and production workflows at scale. In addition to your engineering contributions, by working in our dynamic and customer-focused team culture, you will contribute to and learn from best practices in the nascent autonomy industry. If you are hands-on and looking for a place to have a multiplying effect on making autonomous systems a reality, Applied is the place for you!  AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: * Implement a software pipeline which enables calibration of sensor intrinsic and extrinsic parameters for a variety of vehicles of different sensor configurations * Design processes to manage the lifecycle and deployment of calibrations besides operations around data collection, processing and evaluation  * Work across teams, interface closely with and contribute to the core calibration algorithm team at Applied  * Have an opportunity to build state-of-the-art algorithms for both offline calibration in the factory / lab and online calibration to account for sensor variation due to temperature or other on-road and off-road conditions * Enable sensor fusion and work with a variety of sensors including Camera, Lidar, Radar, IMU, GNSS, and more * Drive an excellent product experience by designing a user-friendly Calibration procedure, as well as exposure of online Calibration status through HMI integration WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: * 2+ years of experience building software components or (sub) systems that address practical engineering challenges * Hands-on experience with one or more domain relevant algorithm, software framework or tools, such as calibration, middleware, benchmarking suites, data sets and related pipelines, or algorithmic libraries * C++ and/or Python programming expertise * Willingness to learn and be a self starter, and can quickly become comfortable with new technical tools * Passion for turning their software development expertise into solving real-world applications of autonomous system NICE TO HAVE: * MSc in calibration, state-estimation, optimization, or closely related field * Understanding of the core calibration concepts, world representations and transforms, optimization, the intersection of perception and state-estimation, and noise characteristics of various sensors * Experience doing hands-on work in relevant state-of-the-art offline and online calibration algorithms, and experience with both early and late stage sensor fusion for state estimation.  * Understanding of inertial and perception sensors, state of the art industry solutions, and common approaches for production systems * Experience building and shipping software frameworks or tools that are used by others than the authors of the framework Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. This is a unique opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems on Applied Intuition's newest product and collaborate with Applied’s world-class internal and external development partners. AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: * Design electrical schematics for automotive, off-road, and defense (optional) applications, incorporating SoCs/MCUs, power (SMPS, Linear), memory components (eMMC, DDR, NVMe), and peripherals from concept to production. * Design boards that use high & low speed digital interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, MIPI, DP, Ethernet, etc), and automotive interfaces such as LIN, CAN, Flexray. Guide and oversee PCB layout, ensuring it meets DFx standards and adheres to performance, cost, mechanical, thermal, and reliability constraints. * Create detailed component block diagrams and engage with PCB/PCBA vendors for fabrication and assembly. * Collaborate with system, firmware, software, and integration teams to ensure successful bring-up and validation of the platform. * Develop and execute test plans to validate design performance and document results. * Stay updated on new technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge and align with industry best practices. WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: * BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering * At least 5 years of hands-on hardware design experience with a strong grasp of digital design and interfaces, including PCIe Gen 3.0/4.0/5.0, Ethernet 1G-T/T1 and 10G-T1, DDR, LPDDR, I2C, SPI, eMMC, USB, UART, and GMSL. * Proficient in schematic capture and layout. * Skilled in using lab tools such as bench power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and network analyzers. * In-depth understanding of PCB manufacturing, product delivery, and extensive experience in testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. * Open-minded and collaborative team player, eager to assist others. * Excellent technical writing skills for clear communication and documentation. NICE TO HAVE: * Prior experience building automotive, robotics, off-road, defense, or other real-time hardware systems * Prior experience designing and building prototype vehicles or compute hardware platforms * Prior experience with high-volume production of hardware products * Prior experience building real-time HW systems with safety constraints * Experience with Formula SAE / Formula Electric or similar hands-on engineering programs * Prior experience with Altium Designer * Experience designing circuits that drive cameras and/or displays Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
