We are looking for a Battery Cell Test Engineer
What You Will Work On
Plan, coordinate, and follow up battery cell durability tests
Collaborate with internal laboratories, external test partners, and battery suppliers
Collect, structure, and manage battery cell test data
Analyze battery test results using Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar tools
Prepare and communicate technical findings to engineering teams and stakeholders
Develop and maintain battery durability test matrices and test procedures
Support development of test codes and follow-up routines
Contribute to vehicle durability projects and battery service life evaluations
Support requirement verification and usage strategy discussions
Collaborate with CAE, battery cell design, integration, and validation teams
Prepare battery data for simulation and visualization tools
Improve testing methodologies, data analysis processes, and engineering documentation
Contribute to battery ageing analysis, degradation studies, and life prediction activities
Support continuous improvement of battery testing tools and engineering practices
What You Bring
Engineering degree in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or a related field
Experience working as a Battery Test Engineer, Validation Engineer, Laboratory Engineer, or similar role
Practical experience with testing, measurements, laboratory work, or validation activities
Strong interest in Li-ion battery technology and automotive electrification
Understanding of battery cell behavior, electrochemistry, ageing, degradation, or cell design
Experience analyzing technical data using Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar tools
Experience managing and structuring engineering test data
Ability to document technical results and communicate findings effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
Experience working with battery cell testing or durability testing is highly preferred
Experience with battery test rigs, data acquisition systems, or laboratory equipment is an advantage
Experience handling supplier test data is beneficial
Experience within automotive electrification is a plus

WHAT TO EXPECT As an Senior Cell Engineer, you'll play a key role in qualifying commercial lithium-ion cells for use in our next-generation electric aircraft. Working closely with engineers, technicians, suppliers and research partners, you'll generate the evidence needed to support safe, high-performance battery systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Developing qualification methods for commercial lithium-ion cells, covering electrochemistry, electrical testing and data analysis. * Designing test plans, communicating test requirements to engineers and technicians, and analysing and reporting results. * Developing and optimising data analysis tools for electrical, safety and materials test data, including statistical analysis. * Working with industrial and academic partners to plan and deliver cell testing and analysis activities. * Generating and managing cell requirements and supporting associated verification and validation activities through testing, modelling and analysis. * Supporting system-level requirement verification across the battery programme. * Supporting the management of cell suppliers and contributing to our cell sourcing strategy. * Contributing across the wider electrochemistry team, supporting performance, lifetime, safety, quality and future cell technology evaluation. WHAT YOU'LL BRING ESSENTIAL * Degree, MSc or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline. * Strong understanding of lithium-ion cell electrochemistry, cell performance, degradation mechanisms and design trade-offs. * 1-2 years' experience working with commercial lithium-ion cells. * Experience designing and analysing lithium-ion electrical test programmes, including Design of Experiments (DoE). * Strong experience analysing lithium-ion cell data. * Good understanding of how lithium-ion cells integrate into larger battery systems. * Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach. DESIRABLE * Experience with requirements management or systems engineering (e.g. FMEA, FTA). * Familiarity with equivalent circuit models (ECM), thermal equivalent circuit models (TECM) or empirical lifetime modelling. * Experience qualifying lithium-ion cells for industrial applications such as electric vehicles or aerospace. * Experience handling large datasets and developing data analysis pipelines. * Hands-on experience with electrical cell testing, materials characterisation or cell forensic analysis. * Experience working with large-scale cell suppliers. * Aerospace industry experience. YOUR MISSION Be part of aviation history at VÆRIDION, where we’re pioneering the world’s first electric nine-seater aircraft! As a Working Student Manufacturing Engineer (all genders) you will support the development, assembly, and industrialization of next‑generation battery modules for the VÆRIDION Microliner. You will contribute directly to hands‑on manufacturing, process optimization, and prototype build activities that enable safe, lightweight, and highly integrated aviation battery systems. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Assist the team in the assembly of battery modules/packs and subcomponents, from cell testing up to final closure. * Support manufacturing process development, such as defining assembly sequences, tooling concepts, and quality checks for repeatable production. * Conduct manufacturability assessments for new designs, identifying risks, tolerance issues, and opportunities for simplification. * Support with the creation and control of work instructions, assembly documentation, and quality inspection sheets for internal and external manufacturing partners. * Support shop‑floor organization, including inventory management, fixture preparation, and maintaining a safe, clean working environment.
