This role is hybrid with the expectation of being in the office 1x per week. Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. As a Software Engineer I on the Canada & Emerging Markets team, you'll join a collaborative, supportive engineering team building the features that power restaurants across North America and beyond. You'll work across the full stack — from Android POS devices in the restaurant to backend services in the cloud — gaining broad exposure to how Toast's platform works end to end. Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love. This is a growth-focused role. You'll be paired with a buddy, mentored by senior engineers, and given progressively challenging work as you ramp. You'll contribute to real features from your first sprint, participate in code reviews, and learn how to ship software that runs in thousands of restaurants. Our team values curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to learn — we'll invest in your development and help you build a strong engineering foundation. A day in the life (Responsibilities) * Leverage cutting edge AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team. * Build and maintain features across the full stack — Android (Kotlin), backend services (Kotlin/Java), and frontend SPAs (React/TypeScript) — under the guidance of senior engineers. * Contribute to backend RESTful services (G2 services) and understand how they integrate with the POS, ToastWeb, and other platform components. * Participate in frontend development for internal tools and customer-facing web applications using React and TypeScript. * Write automated tests (unit, integration) and maintain high standards for code quality and reliability. * Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback — to grow your skills and improve the codebase. * Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver features that meet diverse market needs. * Complete both the backend (RESTful service) and frontend (SPA) codelabs during onboarding to build foundational knowledge of Toast's systems. * Learn Toast's deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, and feature flag management (LaunchDarkly). * Document your work clearly in Jira and Confluence, following team processes and agile practices. What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. * Foundational knowledge of at least one backend language — Kotlin, Java, Python, or similar object-oriented language. * Exposure to frontend web development — HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript. Familiarity with React is a plus. * Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and how frontend and backend systems communicate. * Familiarity with relational databases (SQL) or NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, or similar). * Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews). * Strong communication skills — you can explain your thinking clearly and ask good questions. * Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow in a fast-paced environment. * Comfort working in an agile team with sprint ceremonies, standups, and retrospectives. NICE-TO-HAVE * Experience with Android development (Kotlin, Activities, Fragments). * Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and tooling (React, TypeScript, Webpack/Vite). * Exposure to cloud services (AWS), containerization (Docker), or CI/CD pipelines. * Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pulsar, or similar). * Contributions to open-source projects or personal side projects that demonstrate curiosity and initiative. * Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar). * Interest in POS systems, payments, fiscal compliance, or restaurant technology. To get a complete picture of your experience and abilities, we’ll explore your foundational skills and how you collaborate with AI. Through our interview process, what matters most is that you can always explain your approach, showing us not just what you know, but how you think. You can read more about our AI interview philosophy and how we use AI in our recruiting process here. Client & Mobile Foundations is the Platforms suborg that owns Pinterest's cross-surface client platform and quality stack, the shared Android, iOS, and Web foundations, build and release tooling, and quality systems that let product teams ship experiences faster and more safely. As a Staff Product Manager in the org, you'll set direction across core client architecture and paved paths on each surface; the mobile and client build systems, CI, and release tooling; and client quality and reliability from crash-free user rate (CFUR) and test infrastructure to release health, code coverage, and performance and app-size guardrails. You'll partner with client engineers, infrastructure teams, data scientists, and product leaders to deliver ready-to-use, best-practice foundations and developer experience including pioneering agentic tooling that automates migrations and test generation so every client engineer can ship high-quality, performant features quickly across iOS, Android, and Web. What you’ll do: * Set and drive a multi-year strategy for Pinterest's client platform and quality stack across iOS, Android, and Web including the shared architecture, libraries, and paved paths product teams build on. * Own the roadmap for the mobile and client build systems, CI, and release tooling that make shipping fast and safe across surfaces. * Raise the bar on client quality and reliability, driving metrics like crash-free user rate (CFUR), release health, critical code coverage, and performance/app-size guardrails, along with the test infrastructure behind them. * Define and champion agentic tooling that automates large-scale migrations and test generation, accelerating the full build/test/release lifecycle. * Deeply understand your developer customers, where teams lose time, quality, or confidence, and define the developer-experience and platform-health metrics that measure impact. * Lead complex, multi-phase migrations and consolidations that reduce fragmentation and improve reliability and performance across client surfaces. * Partner across client engineering, infrastructure, and product, act as the spokesperson for the org, and mentor peer PMs (not a people-management role). What we're looking for: * 10+ years in product management or technical leadership, with a record of building and launching client platforms, developer-experience, or engineering-productivity products not solely consumer features. * Direct experience owning one or more of: mobile/web client platform architecture, build systems and CI/CD, release/deployment tooling, or test infrastructure. * Track record of improving client quality and reliability metrics e.g., crash-free rate, release health, code coverage, app size, or client performance. * Strong technical breadth and judgment across mobile (iOS/Android) and web; able to go deep with engineers on architecture tradeoffs and technical risk. * Demonstrated success leading large, multi-phase technical initiatives including migrations, architecture redesigns, or system consolidations across many teams. * Experience with agentic / LLM-powered developer tooling (migrations, test generation, codegen) is a strong plus. * Analytical and strategic mindset; comfortable making high-accountability decisions and defining metrics that prove impact. * Exceptional communication and influence at all levels, from individual engineers to senior executives. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; advanced degrees a plus. This job posting is for an open vacancy. Please note that the company utilizes artificial intelligence to screen applicants for the positions. Relocation Statement: * This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. Visit our PinFlex page to learn more about our working model. In-Office Requirement Statement: * We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role. * This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country. #LI-HYBRID #LI-JD1 Our Commitment to Inclusion: Pinterest is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit. Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk. Okta enables universal, secure access to technology for every user and organization. The Device Identity and Access team ensures that every endpoint interacting with corporate resources is trusted, healthy, and secure. Our pillar spans four domains: Device Identity, Device Authentication, Device Security Posture, and Endpoint AI Security. We are hiring a Product Manager to drive our Zero Trust Authentication group. In this role, you will lead the core execution, performance, and deployment strategy for Okta’s foundational endpoint products. You will own the operational excellence of Okta Verify, FastPass, and Device Assurance, ensuring that our core passwordless authentication flows and device posture engines remain performant, secure, and incredibly easy for global enterprises to deploy at scale. This is a critical, high-impact role designed for a highly autonomous product manager. You will take on the tactical execution and smaller strategic investments for our endpoint authenticators, acting as the team's operational anchor so that our senior product leaders can continuously expand our strategic frontiers. What you will own You will bridge user experience and deep systems engineering to ensure our core authentication products scale reliably for millions of global users. * Core Device Assurance Execution: Own the roadmap for our baseline security posture checks (such as OS version validation, disk encryption, and firewall status). You will manage the execution of our posture policy engine and our first-party EDR/MDM signal integrations. * Okta Verify Core Features: You will lead the feature roadmap and runtime capabilities for Okta Verify across iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux. You will focus on transforming raw device-side signals into secure user experiences, managing the lifecycle of on-device authenticators, and shipping tactical feature enhancements. * Frictionless FastPass Adoption: You will drive the enrollment, registration, and adoption feature loops for FastPass, our premier passwordless, phishing-resistant authenticator. You will build zero-touch MDM provisioning paths, streamlined setup flows, and deployment controls that make passwordless authentication frictionless to activate. A day in the life Your day is a constant balancing act between core platform execution and immediate customer support. You might start your morning on a call with a strategic customer, taking tactical feedback on a Device Assurance integration and helping them design a phased rollout plan to migrate their users to FastPass. By midday, you are partnering with your engineering leads and software architects, debating the technical trade-offs of a client-side storage upgrade or reviewing app startup latency metrics. By midday, you shift your focus to execution. You thrive on taking highly ambiguous problem spaces and bringing absolute clarity to the engineering teams. You partner deeply with your engineering leads and architects, debating technical trade-offs and ensuring that project requirements are clearly defined, scoped, and directly tied to delivering concrete solutions for our customers. In the afternoon, you collaborate with your product peers to ensure that foundational device signals map cleanly to downstream capabilities like Identity Threat Protection or core policy evaluations. You write highly detailed, plain-prose specifications with clear problem statements to guide developer execution. You close the day working with our Go-To-Market and support teams, ensuring they have the technical documentation and tooling needed to diagnose customer issues, resolve endpoint friction, and drive up FastPass activation rates. Responsibilities * Collaborate with engineering, design, and research teams to define and document user stories and technical use cases that guide product development for core endpoint features. * Define and execute the product roadmap, prioritizing technical debt, security hardening, and core platform enhancements alongside customer feature requests. * Engage customers to identify friction and technical pain points, use their feedback to inform our roadmap prioritization. * Define and communicate clear, technical requirements for the endpoint applications, ensuring engineering teams have unambiguous guidance for platform-level implementation. * Track industry trends in client operating systems, security compliance standards, and platform authenticators to ensure Okta’s foundational offerings remain highly competitive. * Be the subject matter expert for your product area and help enable your counterparts in the core product, Marketing, and tech partnerships teams. Required * 5+ years of Technical Product Management experience in enterprise scale SaaS products, Identity and Access management, Endpoint Security, or comparable relevant experience. * Experience building or product managing the feature areas for enterprise platform ecosystems/services. * Experience developing, socializing, and driving strategies spanning multiple parts of an organization. Track record of owning and delivering on large strategic projects. You can see the big picture, but deliver on the details. * Strong communication (presentation, verbal and written) and collaboration skills. You easily work with customers and colleagues across different functions and backgrounds. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You can produce solid action plans from often incomplete, conflicting or ambiguous inputs. * BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree. You have a proven ability to rationalize and influence low-level technical design decisions, partnering directly with software architects to build secure, performant software for emerging paradigm shifts (such as endpoint AI and agentic workflows). Preferred: * Familiarity with Identity and Access management protocols and products * Experience with creating requirements for security focused customers * Public speaking experience Top 3 qualities we are hiring for * Founder-level ownership: You do not need an instruction manual, a playbook, or perfectly defined processes to do your job. You thrive in zero-to-one ambiguity, take absolute accountability for your domain's success or failure, and when in doubt, you bias toward action and decide. * Decisive action in the dark: You rarely have perfect data or complete requirements. You confidently make high-stakes calls using a mix of telemetry, customer anecdotes, and sharp product intuition. You explicitly name your assumptions, move fast, and revise them in public without ego when new information arrives. * Unquestioned influence: You lead without relying on a reporting structure. You naturally align engineering, design, GTM, and the field behind your understanding of the customer. You are the definitive, credible voice of the product in CISO boardrooms and internal executive reviews. #LI-Hybrid #LI-MM P25493_3497618 Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada.
