Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables
organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world
stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.
The Core Service Interfaces team owns the building blocks and core services that power how developers and administrators interact
with Auth0, from the customer-facing Management API to the backend that drives the Management Dashboard.
We streamline and bring consistency to how we build customer facing APIs for Auth0, standardizing our architecture and providing a
robust set of building blocks to enhance the internal and external developer experience when consuming, building, and contributing
to our APIs. We are responsible for the development and stewardship of our customer facing Management API.
We also own and maintain the core backend services for the Management Dashboard, from end to end. We are consolidating and
modernizing the dashboard foundation, moving toward a more reliable, scalable, and secure platform that makes dashboard
development easy.
This team's work shapes how developers get started with and manage their Auth0 resources, from onboarding through day-to-day
administration of their APIs and dashboard.
We have embraced AI-assisted development as a core part of how we work. Our engineers use tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot
every day to design, build, test, and ship faster, and we expect everyone on the team to make the most of them.

Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk. The Product Okta’s Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-Ø global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation. The Team The Delegated Administration team is expanding Auth0 to help B2B SaaS applications easily manage access for their own customers and partners, at scale. We make it possible for enterprise SaaS users to log in with the right set of permissions within the right context, and for our B2B customers to onboard access for their customers easily. Our work is cross-cutting and always heavily customer driven. We work in NodeJS (JavaScript and TypeScript) and use PostgreSQL for our data needs. Our services run on AWS and Azure and we lean heavily on containers for both our development and production needs. If you have a keen eye for good user experiences and enjoy solving hard problems at scale we can’t wait to talk to you. What you’ll be doing * Help drive architectural vision and strategy on the team to design and deliver powerful new enterprise functionality for our SaaS customers - both for the login flow itself and for Auth0’s direct and self-service management capabilities * Identify and implement strategic technical improvements to our codebase and architecture. Orchestrate and lead major technical projects, across teams as necessary. * Mentor and coach less experienced engineers on sound engineering practices and technical leadership. Serve as a subject matter expert on all building scalable, reliable and maintainable distributed systems. * Work with your team, the Product Manager and Product Designer to define the look, feel and functionality of new features and review customer feedback What you’ll bring to the role * You bring solid architectural and security knowledge, backed by experience in designing, implementing and evolving complex distributed systems. * You have worked on projects that required close collaboration with external teams, and have experience making those a success. * You are a good mentor and communicator, and bring the rest of your team along for the journey. You can explain complex concepts simply in person or in a document. You know that while an engineer can write code, teams collaborate to ship successful products. * You have solid previous experience with Node.js (JavaScript or Typescript) to build scalable backend services and creating and maintaining public and internal APIs. * You have built frontend and full-stack apps and know what approach to use when. You know how to build SPAs, have a good understanding of React and know your way around CSS. * You have a good understanding of SQL databases and know how to debug and optimize table and query structure for performance under load. * You have experience with Docker and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred). * You have proven experience operating services at scale with appropriate observability tools and mechanisms. And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! * Knowledge of authentication protocols such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML. * Understanding and experience of DevOps culture. We have infrastructure teams that build interfaces for product teams but we love working with engineers who can reason about the workings under the covers - and roll their sleeves up to write some Terraform, if need be. * Knowledge of security engineering and application security. #LI-Hybrid P24570 Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. GET TO KNOW THE TEAM The Developer Platform team at Auth0 (an Okta company) owns the surfaces developers use to build with Auth0 - APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and the tooling that shapes how developers experience identity. Software is increasingly built by developers working alongside AI agents, and that shift raises the bar on every interface we ship: APIs have to be consumable by agents, tools have to be discoverable, and our platform has to hold up when an agent - not just a person, is the one calling it. We're looking for an engineer who already builds with those skills. We move fast, we own problems end-to-end, and we care deeply about the developer experience we put in front of people. THE OPPORTUNITY We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build the platform surfaces that developers and AI agents use to configure, extend, and interact with Auth0. You'll work at the intersection of API platform design, developer tooling, and emerging standards like MCP (Model Context Protocol). You'll take on ambiguous, high-leverage problems alongside a group of strong senior and staff engineers, and you'll have real influence over how our platform is built for a world where agents are first-class consumers. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING * Design and build developer-facing platform surfaces - APIs, MCP tools, CLI integrations, that hold up whether the caller is a developer or an agent * Own technical direction for key platform surfaces that make Auth0 consumable by agents * Drive cross-cutting technical decisions that keep our platform coherent and easy to build on * Operate peer-to-peer with tech leads across teams: own your work, unblock others, and raise the execution bar * Bring developer's empathy to everything you ship - you understand how developers consume APIs and you design accordingly WHAT YOU'LL BRING * 7+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful time on platform, SDK, or developer-tooling work * Strong Node.js fundamentals; Go a plus * A track record of designing and shipping APIs or developer-facing surfaces at scale * Comfort owning ambiguous problems without heavy top-down scoping * Hands-on familiarity with agentic tooling, MCP, or LLM-facing API design - a meaningful differentiator for this role * Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and architecture in a fast-moving environment * A bias for execution - you ship, you learn fast, and you make the people around you better EXTRA CREDIT * Experience with identity, authorization, or IAM platforms * Work with agent frameworks, AI-facing APIs, or developer toolchains in the LLM space * Background at a company where developers are the primary customer P-1064 #LI-Hybrid Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada.
