We are recruiting family medicine specialists for permanent positions in primary care across Norway.
As a GP specialist, you will work with patients of all ages in well-established primary care services, supported by experienced colleagues and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Most positions are located outside the largest cities and offer a broad clinical practice, predictable working conditions and opportunities for long-term professional development.
About the role
As a family medicine specialist in Norway, you will work in primary care with patients of all ages, managing a broad spectrum of general medical cases. The work includes consultations, diagnostics, treatment, follow-up, and coordination with other healthcare services.
You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that typically includes nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, psychologists and health secretaries. Norwegian primary care emphasizes continuity, quality, and patient-centered medicine – with realistic patient lists and predictable working hours.
Many positions are based in district municipalities, where general practitioners play a key role in the local healthcare system and are highly valued both professionally and socially.

Salary and employment models
Expected annual income ranges from €100,000 – €175,000, depending on:
Employment model (fixed salary or self-employed GP)
Municipality, patient list size, and workload
Experience and local agreements
Both permanent employment and self-employed GP models are available.
Requirements
EU/EEA-recognized specialist certification in family medicine / general practice
Experience working broadly across age groups
Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams
Good English proficiency and motivation to learn Norwegian (language training provided)
Interest in long-term work in Norwegian primary care, particularly in district settings
