Automation Process Engineering Manager Location: Gothenburg, Sweden (alternative location: Shanghai, China) Help Scale the Manufacturing Platform Behind Next-Generation AI Technology Smart High Tech AB is a Swedish deep-tech company developing graphene-enhanced thermal interface materials for AI infrastructure, semiconductors, data centres and advanced electronics. As we move from commercialisation into industrial scale-up, we are seeking an experienced Automation Process Engineering Manager to lead the development of automated, scalable and high-performance manufacturing operations. The Role You will lead the transition from current manufacturing to stable, high-volume production. Working closely with R&D, Production and Quality, you will develop the processes, automation systems and manufacturing capabilities required to support rapid growth while ensuring operational excellence and product quality. Key Responsibilities Lead manufacturing scale-up from current production to mass production. Design and implement automated manufacturing processes and workflows. Develop robust process architectures ensuring efficiency, stability and repeatability. Define automation requirements and manage equipment selection and integration. Establish process control systems to meet customer and quality requirements. Drive continuous improvement in yield, quality, productivity and operational performance. Support factory design, production line development, commissioning and ramp-up. Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful industrialisation. Build and develop a high-performing process engineering capability. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field. Minimum 10 years' experience in automation process engineering, industrialisation or advanced manufacturing. Proven experience scaling manufacturing operations from pilot production to mass production. Strong expertise in factory automation, process engineering and industrial process control. Hands-on experience in production line design, commissioning and optimisation. Experience working with automation suppliers and system integrators. Strong leadership, project management and stakeholder management skills. Experience from one or more of the following industries is highly desirable: Graphene and advanced materials Battery manufacturing and energy storage Semiconductors Electronics manufacturing Other high-tech industrial environments Additional Advantages Experience participating in factory build-ups from concept to mass production. Experience working in international manufacturing environments. Experience from China and/or Europe. Knowledge of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and digital production systems. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies. Mandarin language skills and experience working with Chinese suppliers or manufacturing organisations. Language Requirements Fluent English, written and spoken. Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable. Swedish is advantageous but not essential. This position oversees a group of Engineering professionals and Technicians. This position reports to the Director, Engineering. The Responsibilities: * Provides guidance, support, direction and leadership through positive interactions with all personnel during daily operations (24/7). * Interviews, hires, coaches, and develops staff. Conducts annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Assist in setting performance objectives and development plans * Manages a team of engineering professionals to support aseptic processing, filling and packaging equipment processes., * Oversee departmental capital equipment budgets, Value Improvement Projects, and equipment/process optimization. * Ensures department compliance for master change control management and validation protocols. * Utilize Lean principles to manage the successful completion of departmental tasks within the boundaries of quality, time, safety and budget. * Responsible for overall management of project timelines associated with generating equipment design specifications, procurement, design of experiments, factory acceptance testing, installation, coordination of validation activities, standard operating procedure (SOP) generation, and transfer to functional area for in-service status. * Provides guidance on design and technical direction to engineering staff. * Provides review and approval of Engineering Work Orders, Master Change Controls, Exception Reports, Technical Summaries, Validation protocols, expense approvals and CAPA's. York Space Systems is looking for a Test Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will act as an expert on all test aspects of space hardware, supporting/managing junior engineers and working across engineering teams to lead and coordinate best practices in test: planning, coordinating, executing, and troubleshooting test campaigns. The ideal candidate will have extensive prior experience in the space sector, with an emphasis on small satellites and small satellite components. RESPONSIBILITIES * Work closely with systems engineering and program management to define verification strategies and timelines. * Develop, execute, and manage complex test plans for mission-specific verification. * Develop and execute both manual and automated tests cases, including documentation and trouble shooting. * Develop automation for test activities, increasing efficiency of the business. * Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development. and requirement verification * Plan and perform environmental qualification and testing of hardware, including functional testing, vibration testing, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and other qualification tests. * Communicate and collaborate with various areas of the business, such as technicians, product and technical leadership, and program managers. * Interface with the customer by negotiating test requirements and methods, jointly developing plans, and communicating and reporting on test progress. * Represent test engineering at major program milestones and act as expert reviewer at Test Readiness Reviews. * Guide/mentor younger engineers in the test engineering process. * Perform management duties including regular one on ones, performance evaluations, coaching/mentorship, hiring, training, etc. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field. * Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing test engineering teams. * Strong project management and prioritization skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking. * Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams. * Ability to establish and measure key performance metrics and quality assurance processes. * Hands-on experience in space and small satellites, including satellite components. * Experience assembling and/or testing hardware for space environments. * Experience with writing and executing manual and/or automated test procedures. * Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar. * Experience in overseeing and processing data from environmental tests such as * Vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and/or thermal-vacuum testing. * Familiar with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, and reports. * Experience with the full program lifecycle. * Experience with preparing and leading project stage-gate meetings (such as CDR, TRR, etc.) and interfacing with customers. * Experience with scripting and test automation tools. * Experience working in Linux and Windows environments. * Functional leadership experience (such as reviewing performance and providing performance feedback). DESIRED QUALIFICATONS * Familiarity with MIL-STD testing and NASA GEVS testing standards. * The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
