The exact tasks will depend on the skillset of the researcher and desired employment duration, but will include anaerobic cultivation of bacteria, single cell RNA sequencing, and communication with collaborators.
Your profile
The applicant must have expertise in molecular methods and be able to communicate effectively in oral and written English. The applicant is expected to have a lab-based PhD in the biological sciences, though applicants with a masters degree and at least two years of full-time lab experience in molecular biology after completion of their degree will also be considered.
Experience in one or more of the following will be seen as assets: single cell RNA sequencing, anaerobic cultivation, bacterial physiology, project management, and method development.
Personal fit will be an important part of the evaluation process. Important traits are the ability to work critically and independently, manage time efficiently, show attention to detail, and come to work each day enthusiastic.
Due to the short-term nature of this position, candidates already located within commuting distance of Uppsala will be favored.

The Department of Soil & Environment conducts research, environmental monitoring & assessment and higher education for sustainable soil management in agriculture, forestry and urban environments. Outcomes are aligned to and contribute towards national and international strategies on food security, national environmental objectives and climate reporting as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The majority of the department's activities and employees are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building on the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, and there is a research group and a field research station situated in Skara.

Dina arbetsuppgifter i huvudsak • Utföra och utveckla reningsprocesser för biomolekyler, med fokus på AAV • Arbeta med ÄKTA Pure/Avant samt Unicorn för att stödja R&D-projekt • Utveckla och validera nya reningsstrategier (t.ex. DBC, stabilitet) • Bidra i metodutveckling inom LC-MS för nukleinsyror/oligonukleotider • Genomföra avancerad analys såsom intact mass, impurity profiling och sekvensverifiering • Arbeta tvärfunktionellt och leda komplexa reningsutmaningar • Säkerställa noggrann dokumentation i ELN och tekniska rapporter • Underhålla laboratorieinstrument och presentera resultat i projektmöten Vem är du? Food Scientist – Food Research Laboratory About PureFize Technologies AB PureFize Technologies AB develops a patented, mercury-free broad-spectrum UV technology that uses optimized UV wavelengths to reduce microbial contamination on food surfaces, water, and materials. In food applications, the technology improves microbiological safety, extends shelf life, and helps preserve product quality while reducing the need for chemical disinfectants. Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Food Scientist to join our Food Research Laboratory. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and validation of innovative UV-based food decontamination technologies by planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory studies focused on food safety, quality, and shelf-life. The position involves research on a wide range of food matrices, including fresh produce, dry seeds, grains, and food-grade powders, with emphasis on microbiological safety, physicochemical quality, and sensory properties. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of broad-spectrum UV technology on food products. Perform microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory analyses to assess food safety and quality. Optimize and validate treatment conditions for different food materials. Design experiments and perform statistical analyses to interpret research results. Develop technical reports and present experimental findings. Model and evaluate food shelf-life based on microbiological and quality data. Maintain laboratory documentation and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in research and product development. Essential Qualifications MSc or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related discipline. Strong experience in planning, executing, and reporting microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory analyses for quality assessment of fresh produce, grains, seeds, and food-grade powders. Experience with experimental design and multivariate statistical analysis. Knowledge of shelf-life studies and predictive modeling. 3-5 years’ experience working in food laboratories operating under ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. Strong scientific writing and data interpretation skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Good written and spoken English. Desirable Qualifications Experience with food preservation or non-thermal processing technologies (UV, light, cold plasma, etc.). Knowledge of food microbiology, HACCP, and food safety regulations. Experience using statistical software such as Minitab, R, JMP, or similar. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team. We are growing and are now looking for an additional Medical Writer who wants to contribute to CTC’s continued journey. Are you an experienced Medical Writer (MW) who wants to use your expertise to drive CTC’s development? Then this is the opportunity for you! As a Medical Writer at CTC, you will be part of a team of four other MWs responsible for writing and quality-checking regulatory documents, primarily clinical study protocols and reports. The work alternates between individual tasks and teamwork. You will be part of various study-specific project teams responsible for initiating and managing clinical projects until the delivery of study results. These cross-functional project teams include professionals such as project managers, medical and scientific advisors, research nurses, doctors, statisticians, and more. Main responsibilities: To write clinical study protocols and clinical study reports in accordance with ICH E6, ICH E3, and/or ISO 14155, and coordinate the development and quality control processes of these documents, both internally and with our clients. To write other regulatory documents and texts such as summary of results, narratives, substantial amendments and responses to authorities. To coordinate and lead meetings, both internally and externally, and act as a point of contact for clients. To serve as a mentor to colleagues. Other tasks such as medical coding, writing abstracts and scientific articles, writing assignments related to safety reporting, and writing marketing documents may also be required. We are looking for a driven and experienced Medical Writer who truly enjoys writing and formulating scientific texts. To succeed in this role, you need to have the ability to quickly and efficiently interpret, summarize, and present large amounts of data. We require you to have at least 3 years of experience in medical writing, drug development, and clinical trials.
