Assignment As General Counsel, you will act as a trusted senior advisor and business partner across the entire Kjell Group. You will play a critical role in enabling growth, improving governance, and protecting the long‑term interests of the company through pragmatic, high‑quality legal guidance. You will report to the CFO and be responsible for leading and managing our Data Protection Counsel, working closely with senior management and key stakeholders. Your main responsibilities will include: Act as a senior legal advisor to management on strategic matters including partnerships, governance, market expansion, and new business models. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and corporate agreements aligned with company objectives. Your background We are looking for a highly capable, business‑oriented legal professional who combines strong legal expertise with sound judgement and a commercial mindset. You have: Swedish law degree (jur.kand. / juristexamen). Approximately 6–10+ years of relevant experience from a senior in‑house legal role or a reputable law firm. Strong experience in corporate and commercial contract law, negotiations, and legal strategy. Experience with intellectual property, trademarks, and GDPR/data protection. Demonstrated ability to act as a senior advisor and make independent assessments. Experience in leading or coaching others. Experience working in an international environment. We are looking for a senior, commercially minded Intellectual Property and Data Protection Lawyer to join our in-house Legal team. In this role, you’ll help shape and support JetBrains’ intellectual property and data protection strategy across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines deep expertise in intellectual property law, privacy and data protection compliance, technology transactions, and regulatory risk management. You’ll primarily support the Platform Project Office and its technology-driven products, strategic growth projects, and startup initiatives, with a particular focus on intellectual property structuring, data protection compliance, commercialization, and the scaling of innovative products and services throughout different stages of their life cycle. The ideal candidate will be a strategic legal advisor who can partner effectively with other functional and executive leadership teams to protect the group’s intellectual assets, ensure compliance with global privacy laws, and support innovation and growth. The key areas of responsibility will be: Technical Expert and Project Management * Lead and manage complex forensic investigations from scoping through to delivery, including defining deliverables, methodologies, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements. * Act as an expert witness in litigation, regulatory, and dispute matters, including preparation of defensible, court-compliant expert reports and delivery of oral evidence where required. * Oversee and perform forensic preservation of digital evidence in accordance with best practice and recognised standards, maintaining chain of custody, and contemporaneous record keeping. * Conduct and lead in-depth forensic analysis across a wide range of digital sources; including but not limited to Windows and MacOS computers, iOS and Android mobile devices, enterprise and personal cloud platforms, and proprietory applications. Client Management: * Manage client relationships, including scoping engagements, setting expectations, communicating findings, and presenting conclusions to board-level executives and legal counsel. * Deliver clear, concise, and defensible findings through high-quality written reports and verbal briefings, including responding to questions from senior stakeholders.
