Tekniker vi gärna ser att du har testat Backend: Java (gärna Spring Boot). Frontend: JavaScript och något ramverk (t.ex. React). Data: SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) och REST API:er. Verktyg: Maven/Gradle, Git, Docker (meriterande). Vi tror att du Studerar till Systemutvecklare, Java-utvecklare eller Fullstack-utvecklare. Gillar logisk problemlösning och struktur. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES A UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this role. If you don’t hold SC clearance, we will support you to apply assuming you have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. As a Software Engineer, you will help lead the development of backend services for a government client leveraging the latest commercial and open-source technologies. This involves designing, developing, documenting and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability. * Design, develop, document and deploy new or enhanced features to our backend services that meet functional / non-functional business requirements * Actively participate in the team’s elaboration and estimation of user stories * Build frequent, small releases to maintain the team’s momentum * Collaborate closely with other engineers in our cross-functional feature teams; ensuring that others can cover for you, and that you can cover for them * Build, optimise and operate our Continuous Deployment pipelines * Maintain operational responsibility for the services that your team owns CORE COMPETENCIES The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or greater in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent of at least 5 years of working experience in a developer capacity is also acceptable for this position. You will have demonstrated the following competencies to the proficiency level appropriate to the seniority of the role; * JAVA programming experience as the core language, including Spring Boot. * Fluent in writing JAVA coding. * Experience with Kafka or a similar platform. * Experience with Scala and Spark. * Integrating with backing services, such as PostgreSQL, Redis or S3 * Good engineering practices including continuous delivery, clean code, documentation, defensive programming, automated testing and code reviews * Working in Agile development and/or DevOps teams * Using GitHub/GitLab for source control * Test Driven Development with appropriate tools and frameworks * Experience in Big Data technologies * Experience in Public Cloud services, such as AWS Aker Systems Attributes At Aker we work as a team; we are collaborative, hardworking, open, and delivery obsessed. The Team: Platform Services At the heart of this technology is the Platform Services team, a highly technical group responsible for maintaining and evolving the foundational aspects of the Etraveli Group platform. Our mission is to ensure we have a robust environment to build, deliver, and run services—from the very first lines of code in a project to maintainable services running in production, whether in AWS or our own datacenters. We manage our CI/CD setup and cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), providing project templates and architectural support to development teams and strategically important projects. Today, the team consists of a collaborative mix of cloud infrastructure specialists and tech-focused senior developers. The Role As we grow and expand our support for new teams and projects, we are looking for a Senior Engineer or Hands-on Architect to strengthen our ranks. While the team handles infrastructure, your focus will be on the software side of building services: code, design, system architecture, and CI/CD. In this role, you will certainly draw boxes and arrows on whiteboards to map out designs, but more importantly, you will write and update the code within our templates and CI/CD pipelines to support our developers. You will be a key voice in discussions—both within the team and across the organization—on how to best design and solve complex technical tasks. Requirements To be a good fit for this role, we believe you possess the following qualifications: Experience: At least 10 years as a software developer and/or architect (likely more). Java Expertise: Extensive experience as a Java backend developer, very comfortable in a senior capacity. Polyglot Mindset: Experience with programming languages beyond just Java. Mentorship: You enjoy supporting other developers and can discuss complex software solutions with both teams and stakeholders. CI/CD & Kubernetes: At least some experience with CI/CD (and a willingness to become an expert) and a strong understanding of Kubernetes—including the ability to write and troubleshoot manifest files independently. Broad Technical Interest: An interest in the underlying infrastructure required to run services, as well as a passion for service architecture and IaC (without being "married" to a single tool). Tech Stack Knowledge: Meaningful experience in several of the following: AWS, Linux, shell scripting, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, Typescript, React, Python, MySQL, Couchbase, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, Gradle, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, observability, security, networking, and testing.
