Shape the Decisions Behind Our Product Model — Not Just the Diagrams Are you energized by architecting for empowered product teams rather than for a control room? We're looking for an Enterprise Architect to guide Vitrolife Group through our shift from project-driven delivery to a domain-based product operating model — in a MedTech setting where regulation, AI governance, and platform engineering all have to work together from day one. Your Mission You'll architect for team autonomy and clear domain boundaries, govern through decision records instead of review-board theatre, and treat regulatory constraints (SaMD, IEC 62304, MDR/IVDR) as inputs to design rather than a documentation exercise at the end. You'll also help define how AI is governed across the enterprise, and how AI is used responsibly within the architecture practice itself. What You'll Do * Architect for empowered, autonomous product teams aligned to business domains, not a central control point * Own canonical domain and data models across the organization, including alignment to standards like FHIR R5 where relevant * Write and review architecture decision records (ADR/LDDR) as the primary governance mechanism * Define enforceable, auditable guardrails for agentic AI systems, aligned to the EU AI Act * Bring SaMD classification, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, and MDR/IVDR cybersecurity requirements into architecture decisions from the start * Champion Team Topologies, platform engineering, and governance-as-code across delivery pipelines What You Bring * Proven experience as an enterprise, solution, or lead architect in a product-operating-model or platform-engineering context * Strong grounding in domain-driven design, capability mapping, and canonical data modeling * Comfort with Azure landing zone architecture, Terraform, and modern CI/CD (OIDC, GitHub Enterprise Cloud) * A track record of governing through decision records and paved paths rather than central approval gates * The instinct to separate governing AI from using AI — and to keep accountability for outcomes either way * An enabler mindset: you see internal teams as customers of the platform, not requesters in a queue Bonus Points For (Highly Desired for This Role) * Experience in MedTech, life sciences, or another regulated industry (MDR/IVDR, ISO 13485, IEC 62366, IEC 81001-5-1) * Familiarity with FHIR and healthcare data interoperability standards * Experience embedding SBOM, SLSA, or STRIDE-based threat modeling into delivery pipelines * Exposure to .NET / C# backend architecture and vertical slice design * Experience with fine-grained authorization models (e.g. OpenFGA) alongside Entra ID Vitrolife Group is a global provider of medical devices and genetic services. ROLE SUMMARY Our clinical platform is where clinicians, laboratory staff and pathologists interact with Cyted every day. You'll help evolve its front end, turning clinical workflows into intuitive, accessible experiences that make it easier for healthcare professionals to do their jobs. Working alongside engineers, commercial and operational teams and clinical specialists, you'll help shape features from early ideas through to release, learning directly from the people who use the platform while balancing user needs with clean, scalable engineering. We value fresh thinking and engineers who enjoy finding smarter ways to build reusable components and continually improve the front-end architecture. As Cyted expands into the US, you'll build on a platform that's already delivering real value in the UK. Using everything learned from our users, you'll help adapt and evolve the product for a new healthcare system, playing a meaningful role in the next stage of its growth in the US. WORKING PATTERN AND LOCATION This role is a full-time position with a standard 37.5 hour working week.    You will be based at the Cyted’s Head Office, Ground Floor, Building 3, Old Swiss, 149 Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7BX, UK and be expected to be in the office 3 days per week. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR: User Insight and Collaboration * Engaging with pathologists, clinicians, and internal service teams to understand real-world workflows, challenges, and user needs. * Demonstrating work regularly, actively seeking challenge and feedback, and iterating solutions based on user insight. Front End Development * Designing and building intuitive, accessible user interfaces for laboratory staff, pathologists, and clinicians. * Translating clinical workflows into simple, effective digital experiences. * Partnering with backend engineers and international stakeholders to deliver seamless end-to-end products. * Building robust, scalable, and reusable front-end components and design patterns. * Raising issues early, proposing practical solutions, and taking on ownership through to successful delivery. Product and Platform Delivery * Shaping, designing, and delivering diagnostic platform capabilities aligned to business priorities and customer value. * Building reusable code and shared libraries that strengthen the long-term architecture of the platform. * Integrating third-party services to extend platform capability. * Championing new technologies and approaches that improve productivity, quality, and maintainability. Engineering Excellence * Proactively diagnosing and resolving technical challenges quickly and methodically. * Defining test plans, writing automated tests, and conducting manual testing where required. * Supporting security reviews, audits, and penetration testing, and implementing resulting recommendations. TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE: Qualifications & Experience * Experience building modern web applications using React and TypeScript. * Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, modern CI/CD practices or Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform). * Contributions to RESTful APIs using JVM languages such as Scala or Kotlin, or a genuine interest in developing these skills. Skills & Knowledge * Enjoys building clean, scalable and maintainable software with a focus on user experience. * Strong problem-solving skills, with the desire and curiosity to investigate issues and find practical solutions. * Comfortable collaborating with engineers, product managers and users to understand problems and shape better software. SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE WILL LOOK LIKE: Your first two weeks will be spent getting to know the team, how we work and the technology behind our platform. You'll have a buddy for those day-to-day questions, complete quality and compliance training related to our lab quality management system, and get right into our sprint meetings: stand ups, demos, retros and planning.  Within your first month you will get stuck in contributing to our team outcomes writing and testing code, whilst understanding our objectives, priorities and software stack. From chats and meetings with wider team members and users, you will start to form a solid understanding of what they really need from our software.  By six months, you'll be taking ownership of a meaningful piece of work from start to finish, whether that's delivering a FHIR API, building new features for pathologists or helping operationalise our R&D team's genetics pipeline. Along the way, you'll become a trusted member of the team, contribute to support, and help shape what we build next.
