About the role
At Firely, we build enterprise-grade software that makes health data more accessible and more useful. Our FHIR server is at the
heart of that work, helping healthcare organizations around the world exchange data more reliably and efficiently.
Yes, it’s technical. But it’s also meaningful. Better health data exchange means better informed care.
To help us push that further, we’re looking for a talented and curious Backend Developer (.NET) to join our development team. This

You will not just oversee a department; you will lead myTomorrows through its next chapter of technological maturity, platform scaling, and product-driven value creation. THE LEADERSHIP & PRODUCT CHALLENGES WAITING FOR YOU You will be the primary owner of our product strategy, driving what we build and why. In close collaboration with the CEO & commercial and operational leadership, you will further translate our mission into a clear product vision, grounded in market needs and competitive differentiation. As CPTO, you will step into the trenches to tackle four defining challenges: * Driving market positioning & product strategy: You will be the primary owner of our product strategy, driving what we build and why. In collaboration with Commercial, Strategy, and the CEO you will further translate our mission into a clear product vision, grounded in market needs and competitive differentiation, to position us as the global infrastructure layer connecting all stakeholders in a highly regulated, fragmented global market. * Evolving from Tooling to an AI Layer: You will own our AI and data strategy. Leadership Style & Cultural Fit You represent the company-wide strategy within Product and Engineering, and effectively cascade it into context understanding, clear priorities and a compelling narrative that drives alignment, buy-in, and sustained engagement. Further you are; * A Builder at Heart: You are visionary yet grounded. You are energized by creating and scaling, and you are comfortable reviewing architecture, writing a brief, or unblocking a team when needed. * Value-Led & User-Centric: You are deeply curious about user needs, willing to challenge internal assumptions, and measure success through outcome-based metrics. * Low Ego, High Accountability: You establish clear standards and empower teams to own their commitments. You proactively identify and remove roadblocks to keep momentum high, ensuring we continuously deliver value. * A strategic connector: You represent the company-wide strategy within Product and Engineering, and effectively cascade it into context understanding, clear priorities and a compelling narrative that drives alignment, buy-in, and sustained engagement. Please note: This is a hybrid role, combining flexible home-office days with regular days at our Amsterdam headquarters. Because we value face-to-face collaboration during the week, we are looking for candidates who already live within commuting distance. Please keep in mind that we cannot provide fully remote options. THE TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM TODAY You will inherit a clean, cloud-native foundation with meaningful AI components already in development: * Backend: Python, FastAPI, deployed primarily as AWS Lambda functions (currently transitioning to Kubernetes-managed services). * Frontend: Angular web front-end. * Data Architecture: AWS RDS (SQL), AWS DynamoDB (NoSQL), and rapidly expanding capabilities in Knowledge Graphs (Neo4j / Memgraph). * AI/ML: In-house human-in-the-loop machine learning utilizing LLMs and NLP techniques for patient matching * Tooling: GitHub Actions, Terraform, Renovate, ruff, Poetry. At the Vitrolife Group, we work every day to unlock the full potential of science and technology to reduce the barriers towards building a family. Together we help our customers and their patients to fulfill the dream of having a baby. Shape the Decisions Behind Our Product Model — Not Just the Diagrams Are you energized by architecting for empowered product teams rather than for a control room? We're looking for an Enterprise Architect to guide Vitrolife Group through our shift from project-driven delivery to a domain-based product operating model — in a MedTech setting where regulation, AI governance, and platform engineering all have to work together from day one. Your Mission You'll architect for team autonomy and clear domain boundaries, govern through decision records instead of review-board theatre, and treat regulatory constraints (SaMD, IEC 62304, MDR/IVDR) as inputs to design rather than a documentation exercise at the end. You'll also help define how AI is governed across the enterprise, and how AI is used responsibly within the architecture practice itself. What You'll Do * Architect for empowered, autonomous product teams aligned to business domains, not a central control point * Own canonical domain and data models across the organization, including alignment to standards like FHIR R5 where relevant * Write and review architecture decision records (ADR/LDDR) as the primary governance mechanism * Define enforceable, auditable guardrails for agentic AI systems, aligned to the EU AI Act * Bring SaMD classification, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, and MDR/IVDR cybersecurity requirements into architecture decisions from the start * Champion Team Topologies, platform engineering, and governance-as-code across delivery pipelines What You Bring * Proven experience as an enterprise, solution, or lead architect in a product-operating-model or platform-engineering context * Strong grounding in domain-driven design, capability mapping, and canonical data modeling * Comfort with Azure landing zone architecture, Terraform, and modern CI/CD (OIDC, GitHub Enterprise Cloud) * A track record of governing through decision records and paved paths rather than central approval gates * The instinct to separate governing AI from using AI — and to keep accountability for outcomes either way * An enabler mindset: you see internal teams as customers of the platform, not requesters in a queue Bonus Points For (Highly Desired for This Role) * Experience in MedTech, life sciences, or another regulated industry (MDR/IVDR, ISO 13485, IEC 62366, IEC 81001-5-1) * Familiarity with FHIR and healthcare data interoperability standards * Experience embedding SBOM, SLSA, or STRIDE-based threat modeling into delivery pipelines * Exposure to .NET / C# backend architecture and vertical slice design * Experience with fine-grained authorization models (e.g. OpenFGA) alongside Entra ID Vitrolife Group is a global provider of medical devices and genetic services. Some days you’ll solve brand new problems and others you’ll roll your sleeves up and get things done. We’re a collaborative team, so your work matters. We have our investors trust, but you won’t disappear into layers of hierarchy, waiting months for decisions. If you've got a good idea, we want to hear it - whatever your role. We like curious, adaptable people who are always willing to learn. This isn’t a polished corporate - we’re building as we go. If you're excited to help build something ambitious from the ground up that makes a real difference to patients' lives - we'd love to hear from you. Our four-stage process runs on a rolling basis, with each stage serving a clear purpose. Shaped by candidate feedback, we've designed it to give you honest insights into Cyted, whatever the role. 1. Initial conversation – A relaxed online conversation with Maddie from our People team to get to know you, talk through your experience and answer any questions you have about Cyted. 2. Line manager interview – An online discussion exploring the role in more detail through scenario-based and role-specific questions. 3. Team interview & assessment – Meet the wider team in person and see how we work. You'll complete a presentation or practical assessment so we can hear your ideas and see how you approach challenges at Cyted. 4. Final Interview – Marcel, our CEO, still meets every potential new joiner. It's an opportunity to discuss your ambitions and how they align with Cyted's journey and future vision. ROLE SUMMARY Our clinical platform is where clinicians, laboratory staff and pathologists interact with Cyted every day. You'll help evolve its front end, turning clinical workflows into intuitive, accessible experiences that make it easier for healthcare professionals to do their jobs. If you're someone who enjoys learning, asking questions and improving with every project, you'll find plenty of opportunities to stretch yourself here. You'll be trusted to contribute, supported to grow, and encouraged to make a real impact within both the product and the engineering. WORKING PATTERN AND LOCATION This role is a full-time position with a standard 37.5 hour working week. You will be based at the Cyted’s Head Office, Ground Floor, Building 3, Old Swiss, 149 Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7BX, UK and be expected to be in the office 3 days per week.
