As part of this initiative, we’re rethinking five core product areas: * Platform experience – Creating a unified and intuitive backend experience across Adyen products * Accounting systems – Defining a cohesive and high-performing financial architecture * Reporting & reconciliation – Making financial data more accurate, accessible, and satisfying for customers and regulators * Billing & pricing infrastructure – Simplifying pricing and automating invoicing at scale * Observability & tooling – Strengthening visibility and control of money movement through advanced tooling We’re hiring Software Engineers at both Mid and Senior levels, and have several teams actively looking for new colleagues. While all roles share a strong technical foundation, each team brings a unique focus in scaling our unified platform, We'll explore the best team fit together throughout the interview process. What you’ll do: * Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production. * Be hands-on and contribute to the implementation. * Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable. * Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.  * Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features. * We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.  * Build APIs and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality. * Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line. Who you are: * Familiar with complex large scale distributed systems. * You have experience with Java, Web Services, REST Apis, Webhooks and SQL/PostgreSql. * You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge. * You enjoy working in a cross-functional team with roles like Data Science, Frontend, and Product. * You value involving other people to hear different perspectives. * You have an experimental mindset with a launch fast and iterate mentality. Minimum qualifications: * 5+ years of experience in software development industry in a fast paced tech environment * Full professional proficiency in English * This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. Senior Development Tooling Engineer Adyen is looking for a Senior Development Tooling Engineer for its Engineering Tools team in Amsterdam. The position involves working on a distributed, real-time, 24/7 system with interesting performance and security requirements. The primary function will be developing tools and applications to create a great DevEx for other Software Engineers at Adyen. You love automating processes, providing tooling and advocating development / SDLC best practices to the rest of the organization. Instead of just scripting, you will be expected to develop experiences which make the daily lives of developers a breeze. Together we will be providing an elevated SDLC experience to the rest of the organization, working closely with the teams involved in the build and release process, but also with the teams that build our underlying on-premises infrastructure, such as our Kubernetes clusters and our own private cloud. What you'll do You will be working alongside a team of great engineers on tooling, software, and systems that aid us in maintaining a lean and performant SDLC for our feature teams. Examples include writing bespoke local or CI tooling, working on our software testing framework or environments, design of release pipeline and associated flows. Who you are * Programming Skills: 7+ years of experience in maintaining high availability in a constantly running system built in multiple languages, proficiency in either Java, Python or Golang is a must. You should also be comfortable with bash scripting. * Linux Background: 2+ years of strong experience working with Linux, particularly in building containers in ephemeral environments. DevEx expert: Able to design and create tools, flows, and setups that provide an amazing developer experience. Great at navigating existing stacks to find and implement improvements. * Owner: Own projects that require coordination between teams and push them through to the end. * Mentor: Able to upskill your peers. * Containerization: Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration. * Building and Automating: Proven track record in developing CI/CD tooling and applications, automating legacy processes to meet modern development standards. * CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with writing and maintaining GitLab and Jenkins pipelines. * Infrastructure as Code: At least surface knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Puppet for system configuration and automation. * Diagnostic Skills: Capable of diagnosing problems effectively and making quick, informed decisions. Optimize Interfaces We’re looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven Engineering Manager to lead the Optimize Interfaces team. You will lead the team that develops and owns the engineering foundation behind Adyen Payments Optimization: the backbone that delivers Routing and Signaling as a Service across the global payment processing. As an Engineering Manager, you will build, mentor, and coach a diverse and talented team of backend, machine learning and data engineers. You should be comfortable streamlining the team's engineering operations, refining product requirements together with product and merchants and encouraging effective collaboration. As a critical role in the continued success of our organization, you will help to iterate our culture and build an amazing team environment that will create future leaders for Adyen. What you'll do * Lead the cross-functional Optimization Interfaces team with hands-on technical leadership, driving architecture strategy and raising the bar through active mentoring and technical guidance. * Work cross-functionally with Design, Product, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Developers and other key stakeholders. * Have a multiplier effect by motivating team members and providing coaching in areas including but not limited to: engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, product roadmap discussions. * Maintain an inclusive team culture focused on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact. * Collaborate with different teams to design and implement new services with reliability/infra/data/dev in mind. * Set clear individual and team goals that align with our strategic engineering ambitions in close collaboration with the product manager. * Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication/feedback culture. * Recruit new team members who align with the Adyen culture and required skills.  Who you are * You have an affinity for the Payments optimization domain. * An energetic self-starter experienced in creating alignment between multiple teams. * You have experience with Core Java, Distributed systems, machine learning products and BI tools (e.g., Looker). * You are able to define, implement and monitor performance to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems. * You have experience in coaching and mentoring engineering talent. * You have experience in leading technical projects in a fast paced and critical environment. * You have experience collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction including product roadmaps. * You are an excellent communicator and team player who can inspire others around them. * You can clearly communicate technical concepts to non-engineers.
