Your opportunity As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will support both operating mines and development projects by providing specialist expertise in geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics. You will contribute to mine design, mining methods, extraction sequencing, and ground support strategies, ensuring geotechnical considerations are integrated into planning and operational decision-making. The position is based at the Boliden office, with a primary focus on supporting underground mining operations. Other locations within Boliden Mines may also be considered. Who you will work with You will join the Rock Mechanics team within Mine Staff, a collaborative group of geotechnical specialists supporting Boliden's mining operations. The role involves close cooperation with mine planning engineers, geologists, production technology specialists, project teams, and external consultants across multiple sites. What you will do Provide geotechnical and rock mechanics support to underground mining operations Contribute to mine design, mining methods, stope design, and extraction sequencing Perform and evaluate numerical modelling for mining applications Support feasibility studies, projects, and technical investigations Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and contribute to Ground Control Management Plans Evaluate ground behaviour, seismicity, and ground support requirements Develop and improve technical standards, tools, and work processes Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical geotechnical solutions Mentor and support less experienced colleagues when needed What you bring You are an analytical and solution-oriented professional who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges. With strong communication skills, you can translate technical information into clear recommendations and build productive relationships across teams and disciplines. You thrive in collaborative environments and take a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
