We are seeking an experienced Sr. Staff Software Engineer with deep networking expertise to help shape the future of Databricks’ Networking Infrastructure. As one of the early members of the rapidly growing Bangalore site, you will play a critical role in defining the technical vision and architecture for next-generation network connectivity & observability services that will power & manage millions of VMs across multiple clouds.  In this role, you will own and drive the design of large-scale connectivity platforms that form the backbone between Databricks’ control plane and compute plane. These platforms are foundational to improving the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our compute infrastructure, while enabling more intelligent and cost-effective use of cloud resources. You will operate at an org-wide level, setting technical direction, leading complex cross-team initiatives, and mentoring senior engineers. You’ll work closely with product management, operations, and partner engineering teams to translate long-term business goals into durable, extensible networking systems. This role requires both hands-on technical leadership and the ability to influence architecture and execution across teams. This is a unique opportunity for a senior technical leader who enjoys working in ambiguous problem spaces and is motivated by solving novel, multi-cloud distributed systems challenges at massive scale. Sr. Specialist Solutions Architect - Builder Team

The position contributes to the roadmap for specific priority projects, helps evaluate partner solutions, and delivers high-quality, production-ready implementations. This role also supports the infrastructure used to maintain Databricks Labs, enabling field engineering teams to contribute to tooling efforts more effectively. The ideal candidate brings strong customer empathy, a product mindset, and the ability to translate tooling needs into robust backend systems. What we look for * Experience delivering complex backend or infrastructure projects in iterative increments, balancing robustness and development speed. * Production experience of 6+ years in backend or infrastructure development, with proficiency in at least two of the following: Terraform, Scala, Go, Apache Spark, Java, Python; experience with at least one compiled language is required. * Passion for defensive programming and building highly scalable and reliable software. * Demonstrated fluency in modern AI and data technologies and proven experience integrating AI capabilities into production systems, such as embedding LLMs, recommendation models, or other ML services into backend applications with appropriate reliability, observability, and security controls. * BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a track record of producing clear technical documentation, design proposals, and knowledge-sharing materials across teams.
