Description
xperienced Flight Software Senior Engineer to lead the development of the embedded, critical software running aboard our future
fleet of spacecraft. You will be part of the In-Orbit Services team within the Future Systems Department, reporting to the
Principal Engineer of the project and working closely with the other engineering disciplines.
In your capacity as Flight Software Senior Engineer, you will be in charge of defining and implementing the flight software for
servicing spacecraft. You will coordinate tightly with the Nyx Flight Software team to develop synergies. Your role will
continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include:
baselines to ensure that the design answers the needs of the respective project
software (applications, control algorithms etc)
to submit winning proposals for new future projects
Alternatively, five years of professional work in a related area.

Our Advanced Projects unit is dedicated to expanding and complementing these capabilities by conceptualizing and pre-developing new technologies, products and programs. We want you as a talented ground operations & industrialization engineer to help us in our mission by conceptualizing ground segment infrastructures, operations, production processes, facilities and logistics in early project phases. You will work closely with the flight system developers, program managers, system engineers and MAIT department. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES As a ground operations & industrialization engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day-to-day your duties will include: * Develop ground segment architectures for end-to-end product concepts, such as in-orbit services, launch services or exploration missions. * Describe high-level concepts of operations for integrated vehicles, infrastructures and subsystems * Describe high-level manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing processes for integrated vehicles and subsystems * Describe high-level construction and maintenance plans for infrastructures * Describe high-level logistics concepts for end-to-end programs * Perform technical trade-offs with respect to manufacturability and operability of flight systems * Specify programmatic and technical requirements and budgets for ground segment concepts * Provide cost estimates for ground segment facilities and operations * Provide industrialization plans, including make-or-buy strategy and industrial consortium suggestions * Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams developing end-to-end product concepts * Support the commercial and program teams in writing and negotiating proposals for future projects * Own advanced project contract work packages, including activity planning, supplier and subcontractor management and reporting to project management and/or the space agency WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU QUALIFICATIONS * Advanced degree (MSc) in aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, or another related field * 5+ years proven working experience in spacecraft operations, production or testing * Experience with launch operations or cryogenic process plants is a plus * Strong system engineering and project management skills * Hands-on design and analysis skills for mechanical, fluidic and control systems * Familiarity with relevant European regulations, such as the FSOA, REACH, Machine Directive, EN 9100 * Fluent in English. We are also developing different types of propulsion systems to power our future vehicles and missions. As a talented Turbopump AIT Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the development of our turbopumps for the Storm and Typhoon engines. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS: In your capacity as a Turbopump AIT Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include: * Define and implement subcomponent test strategies to ensure the appropriate level of technical maturity and readiness prior to turbopump and engine-level testing. * Design, develop, and validate test assemblies and dedicated tooling required to execute subcomponent and component-level tests effectively and safely. * Prepare and execute assembly procedures for turbopump test articles and flight hardware, including inspection plans, propellant compatibility verification, cleanliness, FOD control requirements and design of specific means. * Lead high-precision mechanical assembly of turbopump hardware, including bearings, rotors, stators, and seals, with controlled torque application and full traceability. * Manage fluid interfaces and instrumentation on test articles (propellants, cooling, purge, lubrication), and provide technical inputs to support integration at turbopump and engine levels. * Support test preparation and execution activities in close collaboration with test bench teams, ensuring smooth operations both at internal and external test facilities. * Act as a technical interface with design engineering teams, providing feedback to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, integration, and testability (MAIT). * Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners, including development engineers, AIT engineers and technicians, suppliers, and test facility operators, throughout the full test campaign lifecycle. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU: * Bachelor's, master's or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (master's and above preferred). * 2+ years of experience in turbopump design, testing, or closely related fields (Engineer II) * Hands-on experience with pump or rotating machinery testing (or equivalent experimental work) * Exposure to dynamic seals and high-duty bearings is a strong plus * Exposure to manufacturing processes (e.g. machining, welding, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, inspections) and their impact on tolerances and performance is highly valued * Solid understanding of cryogenics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics * Familiarity with rocket propulsion and thermophysical property tools (e.g. CEA, CoolProp, RefProp) * Experience or interest in statistical analysis and data-driven methods (e.g. surrogate models, Bayesian approaches) is a plus * Solution-oriented mindset, with the creativity and curiosity to tackle complex technical challenges * Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams Why you should join us! Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. We have recently established a mechanical testing laboratory in our Bordeaux site to support internal development and qualification of hardware — especially 3D printed parts and subsystem assemblies. The lab is now operational, equipped with tensile/fatigue benches, metallography tools, and a Mitutoyo CMM. We are looking for a Test & MetrologyTechnician to operate this equipment on a daily basis and support the execution and continuous improvement of our test campaigns. You will work in close coordination with the Laboratory Engineer and with other teams in Design, Manufacturing, and Quality. YOUR MISSION Your role will focus on performing and supporting mechanical tests and inspections within our internal lab, including: * Conducting mechanical tests: tensile, compression, hardness, bending and fatigue testing on metallic and polymer parts (mainly 3D printed). * Preparing test samples (cutting, mounting, polishing, etching) for metallographic analysis and microscopy. * Performing dimensional inspections using a Mitutoyo CMM or conventional tools and assisting with part referencing and reporting. * Operating all lab equipment safely and efficiently. * Applying and improving test procedures in collaboration with the Lab Engineer. * Recording test conditions, results, and anomalies accurately in internal databases and reports. * Supporting preventive maintenance and daily upkeep of the lab (calibrations, consumables, cleanliness, ESD, etc.). YOUR PROFILE * Education: BTS, DUT, or Licence Pro in Mechanical Testing, Materials, or Industrial Measurements. * Experience: * At least 2 years in a mechanical or materials testing lab. * Hands-on experience with CMMs (Mitutoyo or similar) and GD&T interpretation. * Familiarity with metallographic sample preparation and microscopy is a plus. * Skills: * Rigorous, methodical, and confident with physical testing and instrumentation. * Comfortable working with procedures, data logging, and quality documentation. * Proactive and collaborative, with a willingness to improve workflows and solve practical problems. * Languages: Working proficiency in either French or English. Basic level in the other language is a plus.
