If you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you Your Mission As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer you will build the models and decision systems that turn Teya's data into better outcomes for our customers and our business. You will work on problems where quantitative rigor changes the result: who we onboard, how we detect and prevent fraud, how we price, and how we understand and grow customer value. You'll join our AI Research & Development team, partnering with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to take problems from framing through model development and into reliable, monitored production systems. This role suits someone who combines strong statistical and machine learning foundations with the engineering discipline to ship, and who is motivated by measurable business impact rather than modeling for its own sake. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Teya, you will be expected to: * Frame ambiguous business problems as well-posed modeling, inference, or optimization tasks, and choose methods that fit the data and the decision. * Design, build, validate, and deploy predictive and decisioning models across areas such as fraud and risk monitoring, customer onboarding and due diligence, pricing, and customer lifetime value. * Run rigorous experiments and causal analyses, including A/B testing, uplift modeling, and offline evaluation, to measure whether models actually move the outcomes that matter. * Engineer features and build the data pipelines that feed training and serving, with attention to leakage, reproducibility, and data quality. * Productionise models with strong attention to validation, backtesting, monitoring, drift detection, and retraining, so performance holds up after launch. * Work closely with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to identify where modeling creates value and to integrate models into products and operational workflows. * Apply optimization and operations research methods where decisions, not just predictions, are the goal. * Contribute to modeling standards, evaluation practices, and reusable tooling across the team. * Stay current with developments in machine learning and statistics, and apply new methods where they earn their place. Requirements * Strong foundations in statistics and machine learning, with the judgment to match methods to problems. * Proficiency in Python and its data and ML ecosystem (for example pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy), and strong SQL. * Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models in production, not only in notebooks. * Solid command of supervised and unsupervised learning, including methods such as gradient boosting, regularised regression, and clustering, with a clear understanding of model evaluation and overfitting. * Experience with experimentation and inference, including A/B testing and the basics of causal estimation. * Experience with cloud platforms and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, APIs, monitoring, infrastructure as code). * Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, reproducibility, and maintainability. * Ability to communicate quantitative findings and their business implications clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Nice to have * Experience building models in regulated industries such as payments, fintech, banking, risk, compliance, or fraud prevention. * Experience with use cases such as: * Fraud detection and anomaly detection * Credit and onboarding risk decisioning * Pricing and customer lifetime value modeling * Churn and propensity modeling * Forecasting and time series * Recommendation and personalisation * Background in operations research, mathematical programming, or stochastic optimization. * Knowledge of MLOps, model lifecycle management, feature stores, monitoring, and governance. * Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow where the problem warrants them. * Familiarity with data engineering concepts, analytics platforms, and experimentation frameworks. * Contributions to the ML or statistics community through open source, research, or technical writing. This role is responsible for driving complex AI engineering workstreams while also supporting the growth, enablement, and effectiveness of AI engineering practitioners on the team. The Senior AI Engineer shapes implementation strategy, supports delivery planning and quality, and serves as a trusted partner to internal and client stakeholders on AI-enabled applications, orchestration patterns, workflow integration, and practical adoption. You will thrive in this role if you are:  * A curious problem solver who challenges the status quo  * A collaborator who values teamwork and knowledge-sharing  * Excited by the intersection of technology, creativity and data  * Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting (a plus)  Role responsibilities * • Drive complex AI engineering workstreams across multiple business areas, use cases, products, or stakeholder groups. • Define AI engineering approaches that align business goals, workflow opportunities, orchestration patterns, integration requirements, and measurable implementation outcomes. • Translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into structured implementation plans, workflow logic, prompt orchestration, retrieval patterns, tool-calling approaches, and solution recommendations. • Guide the implementation of AI-enabled applications, agents, assistant-style experiences, and workflow components that connect models to practical business processes. • Establish and reinforce best practices for prompt orchestration, tool use, context handling, retrieval flow, API integration, workflow composition, response processing, testing, and code quality. • Design and improve reusable implementation patterns for use cases such as summarization, extraction, question answering, search augmentation, conversational support, workflow automation, grounded insight delivery, and agent-assisted task execution. • Contribute to delivery planning, prioritization discussions, and quality standards across AI engineering engagements. • Mentor, coach, and support practitioners through feedback, guidance, and performance development. • Review deliverables for clarity, technical rigor, quality, consistency, safety, and business usefulness. • Help teams improve workflow reliability, integration quality, testing discipline, and implementation reuse across projects. • Collaborate with AI Scientists, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Architects to align AI solutions with business needs, governed data access, platform realities, and technical constraints. • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, capability development, and team maturity within the AI engineering practice. • Follow established governance, privacy, safety, and responsible AI-use standards across the work of the team.   Must have qualifications * Advanced English Level * Expected to demonstrate AI-native engineering habits appropriate to an AI Engineer role, including active use of approved AI-enabled tools and workflows for AI application development, orchestration design, prompt and retrieval integration, tool-calling workflows, API integration, testing, documentation, and reusable implementation patterns. Uses AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development, improve implementation quality, draft test cases, document workflow behavior, troubleshoot integration issues, and refine reusable components while maintaining human accountability for correctness, safety, maintainability, governed data access, and production usefulness. * Strong experience in AI application development using Python, SQL, PowerShell, and REST APIs, including workflow design and structured data (JSON) processing. * Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI-compatible services, Azure API Management (APIM), Cosmos DB, and Microsoft Fabric for enterprise AI and data solutions. * Experience designing and implementing LLM-enabled and agentic applications, including RAG, prompt orchestration, tool calling, embeddings, context management, and workflow evaluation. * Strong knowledge of AI solution integration, cloud-native architectures, and scalable AI application development within Microsoft ecosystems. * Experience working with Databricks, Apache Spark, and PySpark to support AI, analytics, and data engineering workflows. * Proficient with Git, GitHub, and Azure DevOps for version control, collaboration, and CI/CD practices.   If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. Our Sportsbook AI/ML Team is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to make a difference in the design and further development of AI and Machine Learning solutions for both internal and external business needs. We have a world-class Sportsbook, developed in-house by our dedicated Sportsbook tech team and growing at a very rapid rate, expanding not only in new markets but also as a B2B product. THE WOW From Architecture to Trading teams, our Sportsbook is an in-house platform that also hosts brand offerings for customers. From the tools traders use to the cutting-edge features available for betting on various sports, these teams are the backbone making it all possible.
