We are seeking a motivated and commercially driven professional to join our Houston office and help clients navigate the increasingly complex world of environmental commodities. As a Sales Trader – Carbon Compliance, you will combine market expertise, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of compliance carbon markets to help shape the future of emissions trading. You will focus on regulatory carbon programs across North America while supporting clients in identifying opportunities, managing risks, and achieving their sustainability objectives. THE ROLE As a Sales Trader – Carbon Compliance, you will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing transactions within regulated carbon markets across North America. Working alongside experienced professionals in environmental commodities, you will help grow our carbon trading activities by building long-term client relationships, identifying market opportunities, and developing new business channels. You will monitor evolving regulatory programs, analyze market fundamentals, and help clients navigate compliance obligations and trading strategies. You will take ownership of the complete trading process from market analysis and client engagement to deal execution and post-trade management while collaborating closely with risk, legal, operations, and commercial teams. Your market insight will help identify new products and services, drive commercial growth, and strengthen our position as a trusted partner in environmental commodities. THE ROLE As a Sales Trader, you will be responsible for structuring and executing REC and carbon offset transactions within the U.S. renewable energy market. You’ll work closely with a team of experienced professionals who have a proven track record in trading environmental commodities. Your primary focus will be to expand the REC trading book by building and nurturing long-term client relationships, mapping the REC market, and identifying key trading opportunities. You will source and execute transactions in both compliance and voluntary REC markets, navigating the complexities of regulatory environments and renewable portfolio standards (RPS) in various U.S. regions. A key part of your role will be gaining or possessing deep expertise in the REC market, understanding pricing dynamics, regional differences, and the overall landscape of renewable energy credits. You will take full ownership of the trading process, from managing junior traders to identifying and capturing trading opportunities in the evolving REC market, executing deals, and ensuring seamless post-trade execution. Your expertise in RECs will allow you to position the team strategically, helping to meet the growing demand for renewable energy and contributing to the U.S.'s clean energy goals. This is a unique opportunity: you'll start in Amsterdam, working closely with our experienced team, and after 6–12 months, you'll help launch our new German office as a key commercial player. THE ROLE The sales trader has to develop mid- and senior-level relationships with top-class companies (utilities, project developers, corporates, generators, and industrials) and actively close transactions that meet the clients’ and Caely’s demands. The teams’, including your personal, performance is measured with an annual ambitious sales plan. The ambition is to grow as an individual and as a company in this exciting and rapidly growing market. You will be responsible for trading products such as carbon offsets (voluntary and obligatory), renewable power and gas certificates, energy efficiency certificates, transport quotas, among others. We help our clients reduce their environmental (future risk) positions and maximize their output while utilizing and building our network. You will have full support directly from the management team and future colleagues.
