With in-house R&D, cutting-edge innovation, and a global reputation for quality, we design and manufacture solutions that perform in the toughest environments.   Due to increasing market opportunities and an ever-growing product range, Thermoteknix is expanding its engineering capacity by creating a New Product Introduction (NPI) team within R&D.  ABOUT YOU As a member of the new NPI team, you will be responsible for leading the software driven automation and test aspects of transitioning products from development into scalable, repeatable manufacturing. You will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams, drawing upon your existing software knowledge to implement comprehensive automated testing and validation protocols.   Additionally, you will contribute to the enhancement of existing software to boost production test speed and ensure that products are thoroughly tested and validated.   Key Responsibilities   * Support software and test design processes, ensuring DFT principles are applied throughout the product development lifecycle * Support software and test workstreams within NPI projects, ensuring readiness for build and scale, and supporting the transition of products through to customer delivery * Define and implement robust processes for firmware programming, product configuration, calibration data handling and version control in production builds * Define, develop, and document automated test processes during product development for new products and assemblies * Work with mechanical and electronics engineers within the NPI team to design automated electromechanical test systems that optimise production throughput and ensure product quality * Drive improvements in manufacturing readiness by identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline production test and build times * Provide hands-on support during NPI builds, troubleshooting software, automation, and hardware-integrated system issues within the ECN framework * Work with the quality department to support non-conformance investigations and product quality improvements during NPI phases * Contribute to the development of the new NPI team’s standards and processes    Required Skills & Experience * Degree in Software Engineering or related discipline * Experience developing software tools for production test and process automation * Strong experience in C#, using WPF and MVVM methodologies * Understanding of software release processes and configuration control * Ability to troubleshoot software issues communicating with embedded hardware-integrated systems. * Strong documentation skills and attention to detail * Experience creating technical documentation and releasing into a controlled change management system * Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced engineering environment     Desirable Skills & Experience * Experience supporting NPI from prototype through to volume manufacture * Familiarity with embedded firmware programming tools. * Knowledge of manufacturing test systems, calibration workflows, and automation frameworks * Experience with additional programming languages such as LabVIEW, and C/C++ * Understanding of engineering change control, ISO9001 environments, and traceability requirements * Exposure to thermal imaging products, or real-time embedded systems * Experience designing jigs, fixtures, tooling, or electronic test equipment  Personal Attributes * Hands-on, proactive, and solution-focused mindset * Strong communication skills with engineering and production stakeholders * Comfortable working across both design and manufacturing environments * Driven to improve processes and deliver manufacturing excellence * Adaptable and motivated to help shape a new team and function  Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. ABOUT YOU Role Overview The Senior Electronics Engineer will take technical ownership of electronic hardware design across new and existing Thermoteknix products. The role will involve leading the design, development, verification, and support of complex electronic systems, working closely with firmware, software, mechanical, production, and project teams.   This is a hands-on senior engineering role suited to someone with strong electronic design experience, sound technical judgement, and the ability to take products from concept through prototype, verification, and transfer into manufacture. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute both as an individual designer and as a technical lead within the R&D team.   Key Responsibilities * Lead the design and development of electronic hardware for new and existing products. * Take ownership of electronic design activities from concept through to production release. * Design analogue, digital, power, video, embedded, and mixed-signal electronics for compact and ruggedised products. * Produce schematics, design calculations, PCB layout guidance, bills of materials, and supporting technical documentation. * Review and approve electronic designs, ensuring they meet technical, commercial, manufacturability, and reliability requirements. * Work closely with firmware and software engineers to integrate electronics with FPGA, microcontroller, sensor, display, video, and communication interfaces. * Lead prototype bring-up, board-level debugging, system integration, verification testing, and fault finding. * Support EMC, environmental, reliability, and compliance testing where required. * Contribute to technical architecture decisions for new products and product improvements. * Support design reviews, risk assessments, requirements capture, and development planning. * Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and design review input. * Work with production and test teams to support transfer into manufacture, including test procedures, production documentation, and troubleshooting. * Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across development and production hardware. * Support component selection, obsolescence management, alternative part qualification, and supplier engagement. * Maintain high standards of design control, documentation, configuration management, and engineering best practice.   Required Skills & Experience * Degree or equivalent experience in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. * Significant experience designing electronic hardware for commercial, industrial, defence, aerospace, scientific, or other high-performance products. * Strong knowledge of analogue, digital, power, and mixed-signal circuit design. * Experience taking electronic designs from concept through to prototype, verification, and production release. * Experience with schematic capture and PCB design processes. * Practical experience with electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and power supplies. * Ability to debug complex electronic systems at board and system level. * Experience of embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGA interfaces, or sensor integration. * Experience designing for reliability, manufacturability, and testability. * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.   Desirable Skills & Experience * Experience with imaging systems, thermal cameras, night vision, displays, or electro-optical products. * Knowledge of video interfaces, MIPI, LVDS, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, or similar communication protocols. * Experience with low-power electronic design. * Experience with battery-powered or portable products. * Knowledge of EMC design principles and environmental testing. * Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design tools. * Familiarity with defence, aerospace, or ruggedised product development. * Experience supporting products through prototype build, qualification, and production release. * Understanding of component lifecycle management and obsolescence control.   Personal Attributes * Practical, hands-on, and comfortable working with real hardware. * Strong problem-solving mindset with good attention to detail. * Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. * Comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment with changing priorities. * Curious, technically driven, and keen to develop new skills. * Takes ownership of tasks and follows through to completion. * Able to balance innovation with manufacturability, reliability, and commercial requirements. ABOUT YOU We are looking to recruit an experienced Production Technician to augment our current Production Team in the electro-mechanical assembly and test of a variety of infrared thermal imaging related products. Production involves job or batch quantities and can range from cable assembly through to full system build and test.    You will join a production department consisting of a Team Leader and other Production Technicians. The role will involve the manufacture and testing of mechanical, optical and electronic assemblies, component level fault finding, recording and documenting.    The role would suit candidates who have initiative, pay attention to detail, want the challenge and interest of working with a variety of technologies and where a flexible approach is necessary.      Required Skills & Experience   You should have experience in roles that demonstrate the skills required for successful technical support: * A formal Engineering/relevant qualification * An understanding of electronic fundamentals * Troubleshooting, fault finding and debugging skills * SMT soldering (to 0201) and PCB repair skills * Wiring and cable/harness assembly experience * Computer literate * The ability to read schematic designs * Proficient in the use of standard test equipment eg Oscilloscope, DVM, signal generator * Working knowledge of PCB design software * Basic experience with Solidworks, or other mechanical design software packages * Basic understanding of analogue and digital video processing desired * Understanding of clean room techniques for opto-mechanical assembly Along with your CV please provide a supporting document answering the following pre-qualifier questions:    1.
