The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for supporting the commissioning and verification of mechanical systems within semiconductor or mission-critical facilities. This role ensures that all mechanical equipment and systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements. The technician will work closely with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams throughout all phases of commissioning, from installation through project closeout. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform mechanical installation walkdowns to verify system completeness * Verify AHU, pump, and piping installation * Confirm valve tagging, labeling, alignment, and equipment anchoring * Review hydrostatic and leakage test reports * Confirm flushing and cleaning activities are complete * Identify, document, and log installation deficiencies in EXTO * Track equipment installation progress and readiness status * Review mechanical QA/QC documentation from trade contractors * Confirm access, clearance, and readiness for startup and OAT * Attend and support mechanical OAT activities * Witness pump startups, rotation checks, and VFD ramp-up * Verify operation of valves, dampers, and system components * Confirm bump tests and support system resets after simulated failures * Assist troubleshooting during testing * Log OAT deficiencies in EXTO (COR) * Coordinate vendor training sessions * Track corrective actions and retesting status * Confirm systems returned to normal operating conditions * Verify readiness for Green Tag and final sign-off * Attend Owner FAT sessions * Support pump and VFD resets * Adjust valves and dampers during testing * Monitor system stability during simulated failures * Assist troubleshooting efforts * Confirm systems returned to normal operation * Log FAT deficiencies in EXTO (DWN, NGI) * Track corrective actions and retest completion * Confirm system balancing is complete * Verify equipment is operating in normal configuration * Close mechanical deficiencies in EXTO (NGI) * Upload and finalize commissioning documentation * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 2–5 years of experience in mechanical equipment installation verification and commissioning. * Experience in semiconductor or mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, advanced manufacturing). * Strong knowledge of HVAC, pumps, piping, and mechanical systems. * Experience supporting startup, testing, and commissioning activities. * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications. * Familiarity with QA/QC processes and commissioning tools (e.g., EXTO). EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. About the Role As a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering full lifecycle commissioning services for critical facilities and complex mechanical infrastructure systems. You will support the planning, coordination, execution, testing, and verification of mission-critical mechanical systems while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and operational excellence. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting and executing commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. Participating in the MEP design review process. About You We are looking for an experienced and driven professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and collaboration skills. You bring: A Bachelor´s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. At least 5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning within critical environments. Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of heavy mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of chilled water distribution systems and commercial HVAC systems. Experience with:HVAC cooling systems Chillers and cooling towers AHUs and fan coil units Process water systems and treatment Humidification systems Fuel transfer systems Smoke extraction and pressurization systems Building Management Systems (BMS) SCADA, PLC and EPMS systems Experience interpreting operational data such as temperature and humidity trends. LotusWorks is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to oversee commissioning activities on mission-critical and data center projects. This role is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical commissioning, ensuring all systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Execute mechanical commissioning activities for data center and mission-critical projects. * Ensure systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations. * Develop commissioning plans, procedures, pre-functional checklists (PFCs), and functional performance tests (FPTs). * Review drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, identify design risks, and validate mechanical QA/QC documentation. * Perform field inspections to verify installation compliance, identify deficiencies, and track corrective actions through completion. * Commission mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, water treatment systems, HVAC controls, BAS integration, ventilation, pressurization, containment systems, and associated mechanical equipment. * Verify equipment startup readiness, witness vendor startups, and validate system performance under normal, maintenance, and failure operating conditions. * Participate in integrated systems testing (IST), validate redundancy (N+1, 2N, 2N+1), verify sensor calibration and control sequences, and support BAS/BMS integration, alarms, safeties, interlocks, and system functionality. * Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, QA/QC, TAB, controls, vendors, and client teams to support project milestones and system turnover. * Maintain commissioning documentation including commissioning logs, deficiency reports, startup records, TAB reviews, progress reports, systems manuals, O&M documentation, and turnover packages. * Support client witness testing, operator training, project closeout, and successful system turnover. * Ensure compliance with LOTO, safety procedures, job hazard analysis (JHA), pre-task planning (PTP), and commissioning best practices while promoting a safe work environment. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 2+ years of mechanical commissioning experience in data center or mission-critical environments. * Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, and critical cooling systems. * Experience executing commissioning activities through all project phases. * Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. * Familiarity with BAS/BMS systems, TAB processes, and integrated systems testing. * Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional project teams.
