And delivering on that vision demands people who don’t shy away from tackling the hardest challenges of our time. That’s where you come in! We are building a state-of-the-art fabrication facility dedicated to manufacturing quantum processors. As a Senior Process Engineer you will sit at the intersection of R&D and operations, translating cutting-edge quantum device research into repeatable, high-yielding processes. You will play a central role in two critical phases of the fab ramp-up: (1) transferring processes from the R&D team into the kilofab environment through MES and optimizing them for yield, throughput, and repeatability; and (2) qualifying new capital equipment as it arrives on the fab floor through Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Tool Qualification & SAT * Lead or co-lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT; IQ/OQ/PQ) for incoming process tools (at least for 2 process modules). * Create SAT criteria in collaboration with equipment engineers and tool vendors; Negotiate test conditions and results sign-off. * Execute qualification wafer runs, analyze results, and generate formal SAT reports with pass/fail determinations. * Manage your responsible tool installation timelines together with Facilities and Equipment Engineering to minimize schedule impact. * Coordinate vendor support during tool bring-up and drive resolution of open issues to baseline release. Process Transfer & Optimization * Own the end-to-end transfer of at least 2 process modules (PVD, CVD, ALD, dry/wet etching, track, evaporation, dicing and laser/e-beam writing) from R&D to kilofab. * Work closely with R&D scientists to ensure process intent is preserved during transfer and to feed learnings back upstream. * Develop and execute process qualification plans (PQPs): establishing process windows, control limits, and acceptance criteria. * Establish and maintain process control monitoring (SPC) for all processes and set up fault detection classification (FDC) with the fab automation team. * Drive DOE (Design of Experiments) to optimize key process parameters for yield improvement. * Use data driven decision making to perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve process issues. * Document all learnings made in a structured way so these can form the basis of OCAPs in the future. * Document SOPs and train technicians on tool operations and wafer level metrology. * Own the process engineering scope within the MES: Manage recipe lifecycle (creation, revision, versioning, and retirement), maintain process and parameter data integrity to ensure traceability, deploy SPC, update process consumables & DOE creations. * Participate in the Change Control Board (CCB): Provide relevant data for review and drive the approval for the change of process. * Support the rapid introduction of new processes and products to match Quantware's fast-evolving product roadmap demands. * Build respectful relationships across process engineering, process integration, R&D, Equipment Engineering, facilities and production teams to drive cross-functional alignment to achieve a win-win outcome. * Proactively build and document deep hardware knowledge of responsible process tools, connecting tool mechanics to process behavior to drive informed optimization and faster troubleshooting. YOUR PROFILE * MSc or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. * 5-7 years of hands-on cleanroom process engineering experience in a semiconductor fab or advanced materials fabrication environment. * Demonstrated experience with at least two of the core process modules listed above (PVD, CVD, ALD, dry/wet etching, evaporation, dicing, track or laser/e-beam writing). * Practical experience executing or supporting equipment qualification or SAT activities. * Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, Python/R for DOE and SPC analysis). * Strong documentation skills; experience writing SOPs, process & tool specifications, and qualification reports. * Ability to work in a Class 100/ISO 5 (or equivalent) cleanroom environment. * Experience in superconducting qubit fabrication, cryogenic device processing, or other quantum technology contexts is a bonus. * Familiarity with cryogenic material constraints (e.g. film stress, thermal cycling behavior) is also desirable.
