YOUR MISSION We are seeking a Hardware Validation and Compliance Engineer to lead the complete testing and certification strategy for our Battery Energy Storage Systems. This is a critical role at the juncture of multiple domains that will define and execute comprehensive validation campaigns, manage relationships with third-party testing laboratories, and ensure our products meet all applicable safety, performance, and regulatory standards across multiple markets. You will be the technical owner of our compliance roadmap, working cross-functionally with hardware, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to translate product requirements into test specifications, oversee execution, and drive certification to completion. Your work will be essential to bringing our innovative sodium-ion BESS technology to utility-scale deployments worldwide. What you will do * Develop and maintain the product compliance roadmap for target markets. Stay up-to-date with evolving industry regulations and standards, and proactively adapt the compliance plan as needed. * Identify, qualify, and manage relationships with third-party testing laboratories (UL, TÜV, Intertek, CSA, etc.). * Define and execute comprehensive hardware validation test plans covering electrical safety, performance, environmental, EMC/EMI, thermal, mechanical, and reliability testing. * Work closely with hardware, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure designs are optimized for testability and compliance. Interface with supply chain and manufacturing to ensure component and production compliance. Collaborate cross-functionally to align testing and compliance timelines with Moonwatt’s roadmap. * Develop detailed test specifications, procedures, and acceptance criteria aligned with product requirements and applicable standards. Coordinate and oversee testing campaigns at internal facilities and external accredited laboratories. Travel to site as needed to oversee testing and build relationships. * Analyze test results, identify root causes of failures, and work with engineering teams to improve designs and solve issues. * Create and maintain validation and compliance documentation packages for customer submissions and regulatory filings * Be the main point of contact for compliance, both internally but also externally towards testing laboratories, authorities having jurisdiction, and customers. YOUR PROFILE Must-have Qualifications * Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field * Experience: 5+ years of experience in hardware validation, testing, and/or compliance engineering for electrical or electronic products * Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with electrical safety and performance standards, particularly with battery standards such as UL1973, UL9540, IEC 62619, UN38.3, NFPA 855, etc. * Testing Expertise: Hands-on experience developing test plans, executing tests (electrical safety, EMC, environmental, performance), and analyzing results * Laboratory Experience: Track record working with accredited third-party testing laboratories and managing certification projects * Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, battery technologies, and energy storage system architectures * Project Management: Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, budgets, and timelines * Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences * Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken). * Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 30%) for testing campaigns and site visits Nice-to-have qualifications Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), battery management systems (BMS), or power conversion systems (PCS/inverters) * Familiarity with utility-scale energy storage applications and grid interconnection requirements * Hands-on experience of fire safety testing including UL9540A thermal runaway propagation testing * Experience working in startup or fast-paced product development environments * Chinese-speaking is a plus. As an Additive Engineering Intern at Freeform, you will contribute to the development and scaling of our advanced metal 3D printing processes, including design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) feedback, print file preparation, toolpath automation, part quality analysis, and end-to-end process improvement. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to support all stages of print development for high-volume production. As a Process Engineering Intern at Freeform, you will help develop and refine novel processes for some of the world’s most advanced metal 3D printing systems. You will work closely with experienced engineers to study complex, multi-physics behavior within the printing process, building a foundational understanding of the system and applying those insights to support the development of next-generation processes. You’ll collaborate with mechanical, software, and simulation engineers to analyze large in-situ data sets and post-print material characteristics, contributing to rapid iteration and continuous improvement of the printing technology using data-driven and machine-learning-enabled approaches. 3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology!
