To support the deployment and expansion of our core platforms across Europe, we are looking for a motivated SW Test Engineer with experience in embedded software and automotive ECU testing for an exciting long-term consulting assignment in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are looking for someone with
Experience in embedded software verification, validation, and ECU bench testing
Strong proficiency in Python scripting for test automation and framework optimization
Hands-on experience with automotive tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, and INCA
Practical knowledge of HIL / SIL simulation environments and Automotive Diagnostics
Solid understanding of vehicle network communication protocols, specifically CAN & LIN
Excellent problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and comprehensive defect reporting
The legal right to work in Sweden by the assignment start date (visa sponsorship is not available)
A Master's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field is preferred.

About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automotive Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle of embedded systems for automotive applications, from requirement analysis through to qualification testing. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and work independently to deliver high-quality software components. System Designer and Functional Lead Engineer Scope of Role This role combines system engineering and functional ownership for an assigned vehicle function or system. The engineer will be responsible for defining requirements, driving cross‑domain alignment, managing supplier deliveries, and ensuring the function works end‑to‑end in the vehicle. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field. Should have minimum 10 years of experience in Automotive SW / Systems development (SYS.1/SYS.2/SYS.3). Good to have working experience with Vehicle Exterior functions. Extensive experience in automotive system engineering, preferably with OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment. Hands-on experience in working with requirement management tools, especially CarWeaver, or similar tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Elektra and System weaver. Experience in Vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, CANFD, LIN, Ethernet. Etc. Strong analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical content. Basic understanding of functional safety according to ISO26262 Good understanding of Diagnostic protocols. Experience in working with HW, System, SW developments Key Responsibilities Act as the end‑to‑end owner of the assigned vehicle function, ensuring it meets customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and OEM performance targets. Define the functional concept, use cases, timing diagrams, state machines, and acceptance criteria. Translate customer function requirements into clear System, Sub‑system, and Component requirements. Elicit, analyze, and document requirements from all relevant stakeholders (vehicle function owners, SW/HW teams, suppliers, safety, diagnostics). Maintain and govern the requirement structure in tools such as Elektra, CarWeaver, DOORS, Polarion, ensuring traceability and version control. Break down functional and non‑functional requirements for software, hardware, diagnostics, and testing teams. Ensure end‑to‑end traceability from customer function → system requirements → component requirements → test cases. Ensure alignment of system requirements and design assumptions across SW, HW, Mechanical, Diagnostics, Safety, Cybersecurity, and supplier teams. Provide clear requirement packages to in‑house SW teams and external ECU/component suppliers. Participate in signal database updates, communication matrix reviews, and interface definitions. Lead technical discussions with suppliers to ensure their design aligns with OEM feature intent and system architecture. Review supplier proposals, requirement compliance, and delivery maturity (SW releases, HW prototypes). Provide clarifications for all system, functional, and requirement‑related queries. Own the functional integration plan, ensuring readiness for HIL, bench, and vehicle‑level testing. Work closely with verification and validation teams to define test strategies, review test specifications, and analyze test reports. Validate functional performance during vehicle builds (VP, PP, PV) and sign off the function for release. Ensure diagnostics, communication signals, and safety mechanisms are correctly implemented. Role Overview: As a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineer, you will join a collaborative team focused on designing, developing, and maintaining electrical HIL rigs at both component and domain levels. These rigs enable early-stage integration and verification of hardware and software by simulating real vehicle environments using advanced Vector tools. Your work ensures that HIL systems evolve to support emerging technologies such as electrification and autonomous driving. You will contribute to continuous improvements in test automation, simulation models, and integration strategies, gaining broad exposure to vehicle systems and electrical architectures while driving innovation in automated testing and continuous integration. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of HIL rigs. Drive integration efforts across multiple product domains. Commission and validate HIL test objects.
