The Role & Responsibilities
Maven is looking for an outstanding Portfolio Manager to join its Hong Kong based investment team
The mandate of the candidate will be to construct and manage a fundamentally driven, market-neutral portfolio of equities that can
deliver consistent and absolute returns
The candidate with preferably focus on a defined universe of stocks, or cover a specific sector
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate original idea generation that incorporates a deep fundamental understanding of the
companies they cover, an awareness of industry and market dynamics that may impact valuation, a process for actively engaging with
management teams, and an ability to form their own views in the presence of information that is being presented by corporates,
sell-side analysts and other market sources
The candidate will be responsible for all investment decisions, the construction of the full portfolio and the overall risk
management of every line within the trading book
Candidate Specifications
The HK investment team is looking for an APAC Equities focused Portfolio Manager. We are seeking a portfolio manager with a deep understanding of a particular inefficiency they attempt to capture. They will have been heavily involved in the research of the strategy as well as its implementation, and are able to develop new strategies from idea to implementation. In addition, the PM will have a solid understanding of the dynamics of markets, and use these dynamics to display a qualitative appreciation of when their strategy performs well and poorly. Requirements: * 2+ years experience as a PM, or 4-5 years as an assistant PM; * Clearly defined scalable strategy and investment process. * Previous 3 years of positive returns. * Clearly defined universe that is Asian Equity market focused. * The strategy must be based on a beta neutral framework that generates alpha returns in the Asian Equity Markets * Must be able to deploy the strategy in a hedge fund environment. * Personal qualities: high attention to detail, perform well in a high pressure environment, work with a team and is able to achieve the goals set for them

This individual will play an important role is supporting portfolio managers in equity research and investment decision making focused on Japan listed Companies. Job Description * Conduct fundamental research on Japanese equities across sectors, including business model assessment, competitive positioning, and risk analysis. * Build and maintain detailed financial models * Analyze Japanese-language sources including earnings releases, investor presentations, filings (e.g., TSE disclosures), news, and broker research. * Monitor macro, industry, and regulatory developments affecting Japanese markets * Produce high-quality investment memos, research notes, and internal presentations for portfolio managers * Participate in earnings calls, translate and summarize key takeaways, and track guidance vs. market expectations. * Engage with company IR teams and management (in Japanese) to gather insights and clarify disclosures. * Support portfolio construction and ongoing position monitoring through performance attribution and catalyst tracking Requirements * 4+ years of experience in equity research, asset management, hedge fund, investment banking, or related buy-side/sell-side role with Japan exposure * Strong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills * Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity * Undergraduate degree required preferably with a specialization in finance, commerce, or business administration * Language capability: excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required.
