The School of Engineering (JTH) conducts research and teaching in computer science, computer engineering, and informatics. We have two growing departments in these areas, with approximately 50 employees. Your placement will be at the Department of Computer Science and Informatics.
The Department of Computer Science and Informatics offers academic programmes in subjects ranging from software engineering and embedded systems to user experience design and cybersecurity, and conducts research in associated areas. Our education programmes are developed in close collaboration with the surrounding industry and have an annual intake of approximately 300 students.
In our department, we have two research groups, Human-Centred Technology (HCT) and Cybersecurity and Privacy (CPR). The HCT group focuses on designing, developing, and evaluating technologies that make our lives easier and better, always with the end user in mind. The CPR group focuses on making cybersecurity and privacy work for organisations and individuals. For more information about our department and research groups, visit the Department of Computer Science and Informatics (switch to the Swedish version for all bachelor programmes) at ju.se.
We are now looking for an assistant professor in computer science with a specialisation in cybersecurity. You will be part of the team that teaches in our cybersecurity programmes (bachelor's and master's) and conduct research in the Cybersecurity and Privacy Research (CPR) research group. Our research areas primarily focus on the human, organisational, and strategic aspects of cybersecurity and privacy. In your application, we would like you to describe how you envision contributing to our research environment. In your application, tell us how you see yourself as part of the puzzle, what you would bring to the team, and what you would like to build, develop, or explore if you joined us. We are interested not only in what you have done, but also in where you want to go and how that aligns with our future directions.
Our environment
We offer an academic environment characterized by collaboration and a lack of hierarchy. The direction of our research and the outline of our education are up to the group and its members. The other way around, your opportunities to conduct research depend on your commitment and ability to contribute to research applications, since we are primarily funded by external projects. We can guarantee 30% research time during your first year, but after that, your research opportunities will largely depend on the projects and funding we develop together. Academic life here requires initiative, creativity, and a willingness to help shape your own opportunities.
What we offer
What we can offer is a group of colleagues who enjoy working together and who believe that academia should be both meaningful and enjoyable. We have popular educational programmes, an active research environment, and a track record of making an impact in both academia and society. We have strong networks, good industry and public-sector contacts, ongoing projects, and many ideas for new ones. Most importantly, we offer an environment where you can build something of your own. If you have the ambition to develop research, education, collaborations, or entirely new initiatives, you will find colleagues who are willing to support you and help make things happen.
