About the position
A permanent 100 % position is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Business and Law School, as Associate Professor in Economics, within Macroeconomics and/or Financial Economics at the Department of Economics and Finance. The position is located at Campus Kristiansand. The successful candidate is expected to be physically present on campus and actively contribute to the academic environment. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.
School of Business and Law - University of Agder, which is AACSB-accredited, has approximately 2000 students and about 140 employees. The faculty is organized into three departments that offer studies in business administration, accounting and auditing, management, marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as law.
Responsibilities
The School of Business and Law seeks applicants who will:
contribute to the development of the school’s study programmes, especially the bachelor’s programme in Business Administration and the specialization in Finance in the master’s programme in Business Administration.
teach and supervise in different areas of Economics/Financial Economics, at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD level
maintain an active research program and pursue a focused research agenda that advances knowledge in macroeconomics/financial economics
contribute to the development of research projects and in preparing applications for external funding with colleagues
communicate research results to both academic communities and the wider public
carry out academic-administrative duties
Required qualifications
To qualify for the position, the candidate should
have a PhD in Economics, Business Economics, Business Administration or equivalent with a specialization in Macroeconomics or Financial Economics
have a publication record in Macroeconomics or Financial Economics, and an active research agenda. Candidates will be assessed using the ABS journal ranking list, and must have a minimum of one publication in an ABS-ranked journal
have excellent proficiency in English, both written and oral
have experience teaching at bachelor’s and/or master’s level
The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. The successful candidate must be proficient in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, both written and oral. The University of Agder will facilitate the completion of courses in Norwegian. Permanently employed staff is expected to be proficient in Norwegian within three years.

- proven ability to teach courses in economics, finance, or quantitative methods
experience with supervision of bachelor, master, and/or PhD students.
a well-established publication record and an active, forward looking, research agenda in the field of specialization
a strong quantitative, empirical research record
track record of writing successful grant proposals and managing funding applications
active engagement in academic outreach and public dissemination
a collaborative mindset and mentoring experience
fluency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1011 Associate Professor, NOK 830 000 – 920 000 gross salary per year. Higher salary grades may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
