The mission As a Production Engineer at Epishine, you will be part of our Production Engineering team, working at the core of our manufacturing operations. Your role will combine hands-on production work, machine maintenance, and operator support with continuous improvement of our unique roll-to-roll process. You will spend a significant part of your time close to the production line - operating equipment, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring stable and efficient day-to-day performance. By being actively involved in the process, you will build a deep understanding of our production challenges, enabling you to identify and implement practical, user-friendly improvements that strengthen both quality and capacity over time. Through your work, you will play an important role in maintaining reliable operations while contributing to the gradual scaling of our production and moving us closer to our vision of making energy a non-issue. Some of your tasks include: Operate, monitor, and maintain production equipment to ensure stable and efficient performance Support and collaborate closely with operators in daily production activities and problem-solving Contribute with mechanical modifications, add-ons, and upgrades to production equipment Identify, analyze, and resolve process deviations and equipment issues Drive and implement practical improvements in production processes, with a focus on usability and reliability Bridge improvements from development into production, ensuring they work effectively in daily operations Review and improve standard operating procedures Build broad process knowledge and train new operators and production engineers Depending on your experience and interests, there is an opportunity to take on a more team-leading role over time. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in Production Engineering, as well as with our R&D and Operations teams. You will initially report to our CTO and be based in our brand-new facilities in Tornby, Linköping. Who are we looking for? This is a role for someone who loves being on the shop floor. We are looking for an experienced Production Engineer who enjoys working close to production - supporting daily operations, working hands-on with equipment, and improving processes in practice. You are comfortable being on the shop floor, collaborating with operators, and helping keep production running smoothly. You likely have a relevant technical education and several years experience in a similar, technical role. You are used to troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and implementing practical improvements that make a difference in day-to-day operations. Experience with roll-to-roll or similar continuous processes is a strong plus. Familiarity with mechanical modifications, automation, PLCs, or CAD is beneficial. As a person, you are a smooth communicator with a good understanding of how to take complex, technical solutions and make them suitable for the end user of the process (in our case, operators). You enjoy working with people, and you might even have experience of working as a team lead, where your ability to drive projects to the finish line has had a positive, measurable impact on manufacturing processes. You take responsibility for driving your own work forward to achieve results, and with your problem-solving approach, you get to the root of technical challenges to create long-term, sustainable solutions. Since we are a scale-up company where things happen quickly, you need to be flexible and able to quickly change your perspective. You have a humble attitude and are happy to seek help from your colleagues when you need to discuss solutions and measures. Last but not least, you are a reliable "doer" with a positive attitude! Some of your responsibilities include: Leading the conversion of R&D developments into production-ready processes, ensuring new materials, device designs, and process steps are translated into stable roll-to-roll operations with defined process windows and control strategies. Industrializing concepts and pilot processes, moving from lab and pilot scale to full production through structured scale-up, risk mitigation, qualification, and ramp-up activities. Acting as the technical bridge between R&D, production, and equipment suppliers, aligning experimental intent with industrial constraints such as uptime, yield, throughput, and maintainability. Defining and implementing manufacturing-ready process architectures, including material flow, process sequencing, control philosophy, and acceptance criteria. Owning the introduction and conversion of new equipment into production, from technical specification and procurement through FAT/SAT, commissioning, process qualification, and handover to operations. Safeguarding yield and performance during and after conversion, identifying critical-to-quality parameters, implementing monitoring strategies, and ensuring early detection of drift or instability. Driving structured change management, owning process changes end-to-end—from planning and execution to follow-up, documentation, training, and continuous improvement.   This is a role where strategic vision meets practical execution, where you will influence long-term production strategy while staying close to the technology that makes it possible. You will be working from our headquarters in Linköping, where we have our offices, lab and production facilities. You will report to our CTO. Who are we looking for? You are a highly experienced professional with a strong technical foundation and a proven track record of delivering impactful process improvements. Specifically, you bring: A Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar 10+ years of experience in production process development and industrialization, with a clear track record of converting development projects into stable, high-volume manufacturing Demonstrated success in technology transfer, including scaling processes, qualifying equipment, defining process windows, and establishing production control Project leadership skills, capable of driving complex, long-term conversion initiatives across R&D, operations, quality, and external suppliers Solid understanding of roll-to-roll plastic processing, either through hands-on experience or deep theoretical knowledge of web handling, coating, drying, lamination, and converting processes Preferably, experience with roll-to-roll processing of functional materials and/or printed electronics, including the challenges of multilayer structures, functional coatings, and sensitive materials Comfort operating in a developing market and evolving organization, where priorities shift and conversion paths must be adapted as technology matures.   As a person, you build strong relationships through clear communication and collaboration, while confidently taking ownership of your work and driving processes forward. The mission As Senior R&D Engineer, your mission is to strengthen and accelerate our technology development by connecting deep technical understanding with practical implementation. You will work hands-on with our materials and processes to understand their behavior, identify limitations, and define what needs to be improved or rethought. Based on this, you will drive and support development initiatives, from material improvements and new processing approaches to solving complex challenges impacting performance, reliability, and scalability.
