ANALYTICS ENGINEER  ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to help build the next generation of Contentful’s analytics foundation, powering Insight 360, our unified Snowflake-based data platform. In this role, you’ll design and maintain robust, scalable data models that make our business data accessible and actionable across all teams. You’ll collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, trusted datasets that enable data-driven decision-making across the company. Your work will sit at the heart of Contentful’s data evolution, helping us move to a modern, governed, and insight-led architecture. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  Data Modeling & Transformation * Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable analytics models in dbt and Snowflake. * Transform raw data from diverse domains (product, finance, sales, marketing, operations) into analytics-ready structures. * Apply best practices in modularity, documentation, and testing to ensure long-term reliability. Pipeline Ownership * Take ownership of analytics engineering projects end-to-end: from scoping requirements through implementation and monitoring. * Develop reusable, maintainable data transformations that enable self-serve analytics in Tableau and other BI tools. Enablement & Collaboration * Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to define and deliver trusted data assets. * Collaborate with data platform engineers to optimize performance, governance, and cost efficiency in Snowflake. * Contribute to the shared data catalog and drive adoption of best practices across analytics and engineering teams. WHAT YOU’LL NEED REQUIRED * Experience: 3+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI development in a modern data stack environment. * Data Modeling: Proven expertise with SQL to build modular and well-documented data models in dbt. Understanding of various data modeling techniques. * Warehouse Experience: Deep knowledge of Snowflake (warehouses, roles, virtual warehouses, performance tuning). * Collaboration: Strong ability to work cross-functionally with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions. * Data Ops: Experience applying version control, testing, and observability practices in dbt or similar frameworks. You will be responsible for leading the design, maintenance, and optimisation of our modern data platform, ensuring high-quality, documented data serves as a strategic asset for the entire company. What You’ll Be Doing 🗃️ * Own the global data stack including Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, and Omni. * Create and maintain well-designed data marts through organised and tested dbt models. * Use frontier AI models (Claude, GPT) in tools like Claude Code and Cursor, plus our internal Snowflake MCP, to accelerate development, and help shape how the business adopts data and AI tooling. * Assemble large, complex data sets that meet specific business requirements. * Implement internal process improvements like Github CI/CD and automation. * Partner with stakeholders across Executive, Risk, Commercial, Finance and Engineering teams. We’re Looking For 🔎 * Expert SQL skills and knowledge of data modelling (e.g., Kimball). * Hands-on experience with dbt and Git for building SQL-based pipelines. * Experience with ELT tools (Fivetran) and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake). * Familiarity developing within BI tools like Looker, Omni, Tableau, or PowerBI. * Strong analytical skills with a customer-centric approach toward Data Analysts. * Excellent interpersonal skills to translate technical concepts for stakeholders. * Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional technical initiatives. * Advanced system design and data warehousing skills, with the ability to architect complex, multi-layered data environments. We own and manage the decisioning platform (GDS), where we implement customer flows, policy rules, and scorecards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring we make accurate decisions for all new applications by working closely with various teams across the company. This position is an excellent opportunity to take on significant responsibility, lead key projects, and directly impact the success of our underwriting processes within the fast-paced financial services industry.   What you’ll be doing   * Lead the full development lifecycle from design to implementation of our decisioning platforms. * Architect and maintain underwriting rules, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. * Design and implement advanced monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the integrity and performance of automated decisioning. * Collaborate proactively with Data Science, Credit, and Business Operations teams to define requirements and implement complex updates to decisioning logic. * Serve as a subject matter expert, working with wider IT and Engineering teams to shape data architecture and ensure the availability of reliable data for underwriting. * Conduct in-depth analysis to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve decisioning anomalies and underlying issues. * Drive the continuous optimisation of our underwriting and decisioning processes through data-driven insights and strategic initiatives.   WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 4+ years of experience working with decision engines, within the financial services or FinTech industry (examples include GDS Link, Experian Powercurve and Provenir). * Strong proficiency in data manipulation and a solid working knowledge of Python is essential. You should also have experience with SQL and a desire to learn other relevant languages like LUA. * Proven ability to independently solve complex problems and deliver effective, end-to-end solutions. * A proactive and curious mindset with a track record of identifying opportunities for improvement. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
