Forward Deployed Software Engineer
Engineering at Ameba is a rare opportunity to build cutting-edge software in a traditional industry, while being generously
rewarded for your contributions. If you’ve never considered working in supply chains before, everything around you, including the
device you're reading this on, has a story of how it got there. Raw material to finished product, that story is the supply chain.
If the unseen machinery of the world sparks something in you, we'd love to talk!
We're a startup made up of experienced entrepreneurs (who have previously raised $160m+) and builders (ex-Meta, Palantir,
Microsoft, Quant Devs, UnlikelyAI). We have big ambitions and are backed by some of the most successful investors in Europe. We’ve
raised over $9M since our launch just over a year ago.
Your role as a Forward Deployed Software Engineer
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll be embedded directly with customers, turning vague, ambiguous problems into production
software, often in days, not months.
This isn’t a back-office role. You’ll be side-by-side with our most important customers, from high-tech manufacturers to global
fashion houses, diving into their workflows, spotting opportunities to extend or iterate on the product, and rapidly building
tools that make their operations more efficient and intelligent.
In this role, you'll flex across the full stack: writing backend in Kotlin, crafting frontends in React/TypeScript, deploying
infrastructure in AWS, and tweaking our ML agents.
In this role, you’ll have full autonomy to take ideas from concept to a deployed solution, and will work hand-in-hand with our CTO
and engineering team to make Ameba deployments a success.
Life at Ameba

A WORLD-CHANGING COMPANY Meticulous is accelerating the pace of software development. We’ve built the world’s first fully autonomous and exhaustive testing platform for frontend codebases - a capability that has never existed before and that we believe is key to unlocking the full potential of code generation. The demand for Meticulous has been strong. Companies like Dropbox, Wiz, and Notion often choose Meticulous as one of the most valuable tools in their engineering stack, and frequently recommend us to others. Our team of twelve has built this by combining deep technical focus with a high bar for quality, drawing experience from companies such as Uber, Google, Dropbox, GitHub, Meta, and Palantir. You can learn more about the company in this video here. THE ROLE As one of the first Forward Deployed Engineers at Meticulous, you’ll help shape how we work with customers and how leading engineering teams adopt our technology. This role is a mix of software engineering and customer-facing problem solving. You’ll work closely with engineering teams at companies like Notion, Dropbox, Wealthsimple, Outtake, and LaunchDarkly to understand how their systems work and help them successfully deploy Meticulous. Some days you’ll be writing and debugging code; other days you’ll be discussing technical decisions, trade-offs, and best practices with customer engineers. You won’t be expected to know everything on day one. You’ll be supported by experienced engineers on the team, but you’ll also be given real ownership and responsibility early on. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES This role spans both engineering and customer success. You’ll take ownership of customer deployments and do what’s needed to make Meticulous successful for them, including: * Work with customers to deploy Meticulous at scale. Partner with customer engineering teams to understand their architecture, design implementation approaches that fit their systems, and work alongside them to ship reliable solutions. * Improve the product based on real-world usage. Debug issues that block deployments, investigate problems that reach into core parts of the system, and help ship improvements or features that make the product work better for both the customer you’re focused on and Meticulous overall. * Build strong customer relationships. Communicate regularly with engineers and engineering leaders, help guide rollouts, and collect feedback to ensure customers are successful and supported. * Influence product direction. Use what you learn from working with customers to help inform what we build next. For smaller improvements, you’ll often implement them directly; for larger changes, you’ll work closely with the core engineering team to scope and deliver them. * Help define best practices. As the Forward Deployed Engineering function grows, you’ll contribute to documentation, tooling, and processes that make each new deployment smoother than the last. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Strong technical foundation. A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, with solid fundamentals in programming and systems. * High ownership and motivation. You’re comfortable taking responsibility, figuring things out, and moving projects forward even when things are ambiguous. * Entrepreneurial spirit. You’ve spent time building things outside of structured coursework such as working on a startup, founding or contributing to an open-source projects, or shipping personal projects end-to-end. * Clear communicator. You can explain technical ideas clearly, ask good questions, and enjoy working directly with other engineers. * Willingness to travel. Around 25% travel to customer sites, primarily in the US. WHAT YOU’LL GAIN * Learn by building a new function. You’ll be part of shaping an entirely new role at Meticulous, with clear opportunities to grow in responsibility and influence as the team expands. * Exceptional growth and mentorship. We intentionally keep the team small and highly experienced. You’ll work closely with engineers who have led large teams and built complex systems at top technology companies. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on learning quickly from each other. Beyond core engineering growth, you’ll spend significant time working with engineering leaders at fast-growing startups and established tech companies. This gives you exposure to a wide range of technologies, architectures, workflows, and engineering cultures - experience that normally takes many years and multiple jobs to accumulate. * Expand your network. Our investors and advisors include leaders from Vercel, GitHub, Segment, YC, Adobe, and Dropbox. Through the role, you’ll also work directly with engineering teams across many top technology companies, building relationships early in your career that can compound for years. * Solve novel technical problems. You’ll work on challenging problems at the intersection of browser technology, testing infrastructure, and large-scale systems - areas that few engineers encounter early in their careers. * World-class compensation. Base salary £80k–£140k plus significant equity, competitive with top technology companies and startups. LIFE AT METICULOUS We believe autonomous testing will eventually enable the automation of much of software development. You’ll be working at the forefront of this shift, alongside the companies that are adopting these tools first. This role is on-site at our office in Moorgate. We’ve found that the level of collaboration, learning, and iteration required to succeed works best when the team is together in person.

Location: London Office requirement : 2 days in the office - Significant travel required Employment type: Permanent Seniority level: Principal At GWI we’re always looking for extraordinary people who thrive on making an extraordinary impact. Right now we’re looking for an Forward Deployed Engineer to play a key role in our Solutions Consultants Team in London. If that’s you, and making a difference gets you out of bed in the morning, keep reading. It could be the start of something, well, extraordinary. SOUNDS GREAT, WHAT WILL I BE DOING? 🤔 As our Lead / Principal Forward Deployed Engineer you'll be embedded directly with our most strategic accounts, owning the end-to-end technical deployment of our agentic AI platform. This isn't a support role, and it isn't a solutions consultant with a fancy title — you'll write production code, own technical outcomes, and be the reason our biggest customers succeed and expand. You'll operate with the autonomy of a founding engineer and the commercial instinct of a GTM leader. A few things you'll be responsible for: 👉 Embed with our Tier 1 enterprise accounts and own end-to-end deployments of our agentic AI platform — from discovery through to production, including bespoke integrations, data pipelines, and workflow automations. 👉 Lead AI agents into production in complex environments (legacy systems, security, compliance), turning cutting-edge capability into measurable business outcomes. 👉 Partner with Enterprise AEs in late-stage sales cycles — leading proof-of-concept builds and assessing technical readiness to de-risk and accelerate the close. 👉 Surface patterns from the field and feed them back to product and engineering, acting as the bridge between customer reality and roadmap. 👉 Build out the FDE practice as it scales: repeatable deployment playbooks, success metrics, and mentoring mid-level FDEs. It's also fun; shaking things up is what working for GWI is all about. You'll need to be flexible, comfortable with continuous change, and working in a high-tempo environment. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME? 🧳 You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you’re willing to learn. Here’s what the team will be looking for in you: 👉 Significant experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or a customer-facing technical role — with meaningful time spent shipping production code in complex enterprise environments. 👉 Demonstrable experience deploying AI or data-heavy products into large organisations — real production deployments, not just POCs. 👉 Strong full-stack or backend engineering fundamentals: Python essential, plus comfort across APIs, SQL, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and data pipelines. 👉 The ability to work through ambiguity and turn it into a concrete technical plan. 👉 Clear communication across technical and business audiences — you can tailor the same idea for an engineering lead and a commercial stakeholder. 👉 Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and Europe (approximately 30–50% of the time). Nice to have: 👉 Hands-on experience with LLM deployment, AI agents, or agentic workflow automation. 👉 A background in a high-growth B2B SaaS or AI-native company. 👉 Experience in one or more of GWI's core verticals: financial services, media & agencies, consumer goods, or technology. 👉 Prior experience in an FDE, solutions architect, or technical account management function at a company with a named-account enterprise motion. Equally important is attitude. We want people who think big (to make an impact), ask why (to find a better way), and show respect (to everyone, at every level, all the time). Those are our values, and they’re a big part of what we’re looking for in you. WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME? 🎁 At GWI, you’ll find meaningful work, visible impact, and a culture that empowers you to do your best. Our package includes: 🌴 Time to recharge – 25 days’ annual leave, plus office closures over the holidays. 🧘 Health & wellbeing – Health cash plan, enhanced family benefits, carer days, and mental health support. 💸 Financial benefits – Competitive salary, 4% pension matching, and recognition programs that celebrate success. 🏡 Flexibility & balance – Flexitime, early Friday finishes, hybrid and remote options, plus a “work from home” budget. 💪 Career growth – Accredited learning, leadership development, and global career mobility. 🌎 Community & impact – DE&I initiatives, volunteering opportunities, donation matching, and payroll giving. Put all that together and GWI is the friendliest, most fulfilling place any of us has ever worked. DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION Diversity is fundamental to who we are—both as a data company and as a workplace. Our data reflects global realities, and so must our teams. We strive to ensure our workforce is as diverse and inclusive as the insights we provide to our clients. As a Disability Confident employer, we welcome applications from disabled candidates and are committed to providing all necessary adjustments during the hiring process. We also actively encourage applications from underrepresented and marginalized communities. At GWI, you will find a place where you can contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and belong fully. #li-hybrid #LI-NIKOSSS1
