We are a first-mile intelligence platform, delivering granular visibility into the point of origin in global ag & soft commodity
supply chains - where risk, cost, performance and exposure are set.
You’ll join a global, cross-functional team that values rigour, curiosity and working close to real-world challenges. Whether your
focus is AI, climate, product or operations, you’ll have space to contribute meaningfully and make an impact from day one.
If you’re excited by complex problems and want to help reshape how nature is valued in real-world decision-making, we’d love to
hear from you.
You'll own features outright, deciding how to build them, building them, and shipping them — rather than waiting to be told what
to do. Working alongside Chris and Liam on the platform team and directly with Product, you'll turn a large app backlog into
shipped work, with genuine room to back your own judgement.

and to catch when AI-generated code is heading the wrong way.
Your first 30 days: get oriented in the codebase and the area around it, and start exploring the system unprompted. By 60 days
you're making changes across the app with confidence. By 90 days you're going in and delivering changes independently. At six
months you can find a bug, deliver the fix and roll it out on your own — adding throughput rather than needing it. By the end of
year one you're handed work and run with it, and you're generating your own feature ideas and tickets straight off the back of
business needs.
You'll report to Chris Watts and work alongside Liam on the platform team, partnering directly with Product Management to decide
what to build and to ship features end to end.

Plain is redefining customer support for the next generation of B2B companies. We’re building the fastest, most powerful platform to help companies move beyond reactive support and build true customer relationships. Some of the world’s most forward-thinking companies - like Cursor, Vercel, and Granola - trust Plain to unify all customer interactions, enable faster team collaboration, and supercharge their workflows with AI. B2B customer support is undergoing a seismic shift. AI is transforming the way companies engage with customers, shifting support from a siloed function to a company-wide effort across Slack, Discord, and any other channel you talk to customers in. The old way - slow, manual, and disconnected - no longer works. This role is hybrid with 3 days a week in our London office. WHAT YOU'LL DO Engineering at Plain is about much more than moving tickets from left to right - it’s about owning and solving problems end to end, from infrastructure decisions to feature design to button copy. You will: * Build across the stack: frontend interfaces, backend logic, and everything in between * Ship high impact features that are fast, reliable, and delightful * Contribute to product and technical direction, working closely with design, engineering, and founders * Collaborate tightly with customers to understand their problems and solve them elegantly * Help shape a fast moving, product centric engineering culture THIS IS A GREAT FIT IF YOU… * Have shipped features end-to-end in fast paced environments * Take initiative and show strong agency; you don’t wait to be told what to do, you figure out what matters, drive momentum and make it better, we move and ship fast here * Are impact driven and motivated by seeing customers succeed; you measure the quality of your work by the end experience of users, not the abstractions or cleanliness of the code * Want to work closely with customers and shape product decisions, not just execute on tickets * Care deeply about craft and love building products that feel simple, powerful, and polished * Want to not only do great work in a fast paced team, but also have a voice to level up how Plain as a company works THIS WON'T BE THE RIGHT ROLE IF YOU… * Are uncomfortable with ambiguity; we have some really exciting traction but are still at an early stage and are constantly trying new things as our company grows, you should enjoy “being in the storm” * Find learning about new technologies a key motivation for coming to work; we invest in what makes us productive but will prefer the known option to the experimental and novel, Postgres is great * Are looking to manage others, we're firmly looking for someone who, for now, wants to be an individual contributor
ABOUT CARBONCHAIN Want to work on the most pressing challenge of our generation? If you have experience building exceptional products, know how to execute at scale, and want to help build a company for the long term, we'd love to hear from you. CarbonChain helps the world’s biggest supply chains measure and reduce their carbon emissions, using verified primary data where possible, and robust defaults where it isn’t. We build software that turns messy, real-world operational and supplier information into decision-grade carbon and compliance insights, so teams can act: improve sourcing, meet regulations like CBAM, and deliver credible reporting to customers, investors, and regulators. We’re a product-led company operating in a high-stakes domain. Data quality, auditability, reliability, and trust matter as much as speed. If you enjoy building systems that customers rely on, and shipping improvements that measurably change behaviour across a network, you’ll feel at home here. OUR PRODUCT Our platform combines real-world emissions data with our customers' supply chain information to create actionable insights. We help sustainability teams answer critical questions: Where are the emissions hotspots in our supply chain? Which suppliers should we prioritize? What's the carbon impact of switching vendors or routes? A major focus of what we’re building right now is supplier engagement and CBAM data management: * enabling installations (goods producers) to prepare, manage, and share CBAM datasets through guided product carbon accounting workflows; * improving our supplier database and connection management to support sharing across supply chains; * and building ingestion pipelines that turn messy customer files into structured, provenance-tracked, insights-ready data. Beyond CBAM, our platform supports product and corporate carbon footprinting used by some of the world’s largest commodities producers and traders, helping teams move from data collection to credible reporting and decision-making ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Product Engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers. This is a full-stack role with a frontend and product focus - you'll build features that users love and stick around to see how they're adopted. You'll work closely with Product Managers, commercial team, and customers to ship solutions that solve real problems. We're looking for someone who's worked in a startup environment and knows how to move fast, iterate based on feedback, and build with the customer in mind. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Build end-to-end features across the full stack, with a focus on creating polished, intuitive user experiences * Own features from ideation through to user adoption - you'll help define what we build, ship it, and measure its impact well after go-live and show true customer obsession * Work directly with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and validate solutions * Collaborate closely with Product Managers and designers to turn ideas into shipped features, making trade-offs and iterating rapidly * Partner with teams outside of Product & Engineering - like Sales, Customer Success, and Carbon Team - to understand how our product is used and what problems need solving * Build with modern frontend technologies while being comfortable diving into backend work when needed * Contribute to product thinking and help shape our roadmap based on what you're seeing and hearing from users * Think critically and pragmatically - ship MVPs quickly to learn from REAL users, and iterate WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 3+ years building applications across the full development lifecycle * Experience developing modern web applications, ideally in a startup environment * Strong collaboration skills - you work closely with Product to ideate features, advise on trade-offs, and iterate on what we've built * Passion for building customer-centric products and genuine curiosity about user problems * Experience working on features from ideation through to driving user adoption * Expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend development (experience with Angular is a plus) * Full-stack capabilities - comfortable working with Python backends (Python expertise is not a strict requirement) * Knowledge of relational databases, job queues, cloud infrastructure and how web applications work end-to-end * Comfortable with the startup pace and pragmatic decision-making * Bonus: SaaS or B2B product experience * Bonus: experience in climate tech or sustainability WHAT WE OFFER Meaningful impact and accelerated growth This is a rare opportunity to work on technology that directly addresses the climate crisis while shaping the future of a fast-growing company. You'll have significant influence over our technical direction and product strategy - the kind of impact that typically takes decades to achieve elsewhere. You'll tackle diverse challenges, work across the full stack of problems (technical and otherwise), and own meaningful projects from start to finish. If you want to learn quickly, take on real responsibility, and see the direct results of your work, this is the place to do it. Competitive salary and benefits: * 28 days annual leave * £500 home office setup allowance * £2,000 annual learning allowance * Private healthcare * Generous parental leave policy * Weekly team lunches in the office * Office gym, and cycle to work scheme CarbonChain values diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds. If you think your skills and experience match what we’re looking for and you’d like to join the next Climate Tech industry unicorn, please get in touch!
