Milltown Partners
Our clients operate at the frontiers of innovation - we advise technology companies driving change, global investors funding the future, the giants of sport and entertainment, and influential individuals on the communications and policy challenges that define their reputations. Our work spans corporate and financial communications, policy and public affairs to engage regulators and policymakers, policy communications and leadership communications. We underpin the full breadth of our capabilities with research-driven insights and campaigns. We're also pioneering AI-enhanced advisory work for both our clients and internal innovation, using technology to unlock insights from data at unprecedented scale and speed.
The role
Great communications and policy advice starts with brilliant research and analysis. As a Senior Analyst at Milltown Partners, you'll bring a more developed perspective to that work – not just producing the analysis that informs our advice, but beginning to shape it. You'll have enough experience to work with greater independence, take ownership of your outputs, and start to contribute meaningfully to how we solve problems for clients.
You’ll work on live challenges where the stakes are high and context shifts constantly.
To illustrate, here’s some of the work you might be doing with your teams:
Supporting the largest, global technology platforms communicate their approach to safety and privacy for their users
Testing and building effective public narratives for complex, science-focused technology companies as they roll out new products
Running research projects that enable investment firms understand their reputation amongst current and potential founders so they can be the most competitive investor choice
Delivering communications campaigns for world famous sports and entertainment brands at key points of transition and expansion
Analysing legislative and regulatory developments on complex policy topics such as AI safety or data protection, and translating them into practical implications for how a company should position itself or respond.
We’re looking for ambitious, intellectually curious people who think critically about complex problems and are ready to learn how to be an adviser.
What you'll do
Turn information into insightYou'll use research platforms like Factiva and Meltwater to monitor media, track policymakers and stakeholders, and understand the landscape our clients operate in. You'll leverage our internal AI studio and tools such as Claude and Notebook LM to produce analysis that's rigorous and useful. This isn't about summarising - it's about finding the thread that matters and pulling on it.
Help shape strategyYou'll contribute to discussions about what our clients should do and how they should communicate. You'll learn to think about audiences (investors, policymakers, journalists, employees), channels (owned platforms, media, policy engagement) and timing. You'll develop your own perspectives on the issues our clients face - whether that's AI regulation, competitive dynamics or stakeholder positioning - and share them with colleagues and clients.
Write for different audiencesFrom media briefings to policy analysis to internal reports, you'll draft content that's clear, compelling and tailored to purpose. You'll write for CEOs, policymakers, journalists and investors - often all in the same week. The ability to translate complexity into clarity is fundamental to the work, and the more technically complex the subject matter, the more valuable that skill becomes.
Keep teams organisedYou'll help manage the logistics that keep client work moving - scheduling, monitoring, agendas, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. It sounds simple, but doing it well makes everything else possible.
Contribute to a collaborative cultureYou'll work with people across the firm, give and receive feedback regularly, and help create an environment where everyone can do their best work. At Milltown, we're all in this together - comradeship isn't just a value, it's how we operate.
Milltown Partners Our clients operate at the frontiers of innovation - we advise technology companies driving change, global investors funding the future, the giants of sport and entertainment, and influential individuals on the communications and policy challenges that define their reputations. The role Policy sits at the heart of some of the most consequential challenges our clients face. As a Consultant specialising in policy communications at Milltown Partners, you'll be a trusted adviser to technology companies – helping them shape the narrative around complex regulatory and political debates across the UK and Europe, and building the kind of public profile that shifts how governments, media, and the public think about the issues that matter most to them. This is not a public affairs or lobbying role. Policy communications is about shaping the environment those decision-makers operate in – through media, campaigns, and narrative strategy that moves public and political opinion. We’re looking for people who have an instinct to figure out how to change the terms of a regulatory debate or challenge for a client through storytelling. Consultants are the driving force behind our teams. You'll set direction for client work alongside senior colleagues, manage junior team members, and advise clients directly. This is a role for someone who has built real advisory expertise and is ready to apply it at pace across a portfolio of influential clients. We're looking for someone with at least 4 years' advisory experience in communications – ideally with exposure to technology policy or regulation – who has a track record of proactive media work, campaign thinking, and translating complex policy issues into narratives that land beyond the policy bubble. What you'll do Shape policy communications strategy You'll work with the client team leads to set strategy and define priorities. That means translating technical and policy concepts into compelling narratives for different audiences – media, policymakers, regulators, and the public – and designing integrated communications plans to guide execution. You'll bring intellectual rigour to every brief, designing research questions and interrogating assumptions so that all advice is grounded in evidence. You'll also go beyond the brief when the situation calls for it, suggesting creative approaches rather than defaulting to the obvious. Advise with strategic judgement You'll provide recommendations directly to clients - in writing, in meetings, and in high-pressure moments when quick, sound judgement matters. You'll produce compelling briefing materials, speeches, and content for significant communications moments. You'll need to read widely, stay across government consultations, industry news and client challenges, and develop informed perspectives on complex issues. You'll use research and AI tools (eg. Claude, Factiva, Meltwater) to generate insights and support complex deliverables. Use AI to drive better outcomes You'll use AI tools regularly in your daily work to improve the quality and efficiency of what you deliver. This means leveraging tools like Claude, Gemini, and our internal AI studio to conduct research, generate insights, and produce analysis at scale and speed. You'll contribute to how we share knowledge about AI across the team and help ensure all outputs meet our quality standards. Drive and deliver client work You'll manage the work of junior colleagues, creating clear project plans, delegating effectively, demonstrating agility to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard. Getting things done well - and supporting others to do the same - is central to the role. Contribute to business development You'll understand how clients generate revenue and ensure our advice supports their business objectives. You'll contribute to how Milltown operates and thrives – whether that's improving team efficiency, identifying new ways to help clients, or using your expertise to unlock opportunities. Restlessness about finding better ways to work is part of our culture. Build a collaborative environment You'll give and receive feedback regularly, actively seek input from colleagues at all levels, and demonstrate allyship to everyone on the team. Creating an inclusive environment where brilliant work happens is everyone's responsibility.
