We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Platform Product Engineers to join our Security, Infrastructure and Performance
team. This is a crucial, dual-faceted role that combines high-level engineering strategy with hands-on operational excellence. The
successful candidates will be responsible for building, operating, and continuously enhancing the internal technology platform,
fundamentally treating this platform as a product with all development teams as its primary customers.
The Platform Product Engineer role is centered around embodying and executing DevOps principles, specifically focusing on:
1. Automation: Systematically removing manual toil from the software development lifecycle (SDLC) through the creation of robust
tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
2. Collaboration: Fostering a tight, cooperative partnership with product development teams, gathering requirements, and
delivering solutions that accelerate their productivity and time-to-market.
3. Continuous Improvement: Instilling a culture of iterative enhancement for the platform's reliability, cost-efficiency, and
developer experience.
This mandate is underpinned by a rigorous Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset. The successful candidates will be
instrumental in defining and upholding Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), implementing effective
monitoring and alerting strategies, and leading operational incident response processes.
The core responsibility is to implement, maintain, and continuously improve the foundational platform infrastructure that powers
all engineering services. This necessitates a relentless focus on ensuring high reliability, exceptional scalability, and optimal
performance across the entire stack.
ensuring all environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and auditable. Proactively manage the capacity of the
infrastructure to consistently meet or exceed Service Level Objectives for latency, error rates, and availability.
complex production issues rapidly. Drive a culture of blameless post-mortems, ensuring root causes are identified, and
long-term preventative measures are implemented as code (e.g., via runbooks, automation, or system design changes).
CD pipelines. This includes establishing best practices for fast, reliable, and secure build, test, and deployment processes.
distributed tracing to provide deep insights into application and infrastructure health.
manage, monitor, and scale production systems.
reduction, and post-incident review (blameless postmortems).
operations teams.
security best practices (IAM, security groups, etc.), compute services (EC2, GKE, ECS, etc.), and managed services
(databases, queues, serverless functions).
scale using Kubernetes (K8s). This includes designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters, understanding networking
(CNI), storage (CSI), and security configurations within the Kubernetes ecosystem.

LemFi (Series B) is building the go-to financial app for the Global South. Moving to a new country shouldn’t mean starting from zero. That's why our team of 400+ spanning 20+ countries is building a financial ecosystem that helps immigrants stay connected to home, build stability, and create wealth regardless of where they are from or where they live. What began as fast, affordable remittances is now evolving into a complete platform for multi-currency accounts, payments, credit, and long-term financial growth. With millions of users across the globe, we process over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries, proving that borders shouldn't limit financial opportunity. ABOUT THE ROLE LemFi is the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve. We move money, store it, lend it and protect it across ~21 countries - and the platform team is the force multiplier that lets every other engineering team do that at pace. This is the only platform hire we are making this year, which tells you how much we expect from this person. You will design, build and own our internal developer platform: a self-service, AI-powered environment that treats internal engineers as your customers and makes their experience of building on our cloud infrastructure genuinely fast and frictionless. You will touch everything from cloud cost efficiency to developer tooling to the golden paths that let product teams ship without waiting on ops tickets. If you have strong opinions about what great platform engineering looks like and a track record of building things from scratch, not just operating what someone else designed, this is the role. WHAT YOU'LL BUILD AND OWN * Design and build a self-service internal developer platform - golden paths, templates, guardrails - so engineers can provision, deploy and operate services without raising a ticket. * Embed AI-driven automation into the platform: intelligent cost optimisation, anomaly detection, auto-remediation and developer productivity tooling that actually gets used. * Own cloud infrastructure on AWS - architecture, cost efficiency, reliability and security posture - with clear metrics and accountability for outcomes, not just uptime. * Act as the internal product manager for the platform: talk to engineers regularly, collect requirements, prioritise by impact on developer velocity and run a visible roadmap. * Set and enforce platform standards - IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability, secrets management - turning good practice into the default, not the exception. * Identify and fix the biggest sources of friction in the engineering workflow, using data to prioritise and presenting findings to engineering leadership. * Work lean and autonomously: this is a high-ownership role on a small team, so you will need to push things to production yourself, not coordinate others to do it. YOUR EXPERIENCE * Proven track record building an internal developer platform or developer experience function from scratch - not just maintaining one someone else built. * Deep AWS expertise: you have designed cost-efficient, production-grade cloud architectures and you can defend every line of your Terraform. * Strong DevOps and platform engineering fundamentals: Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability stacks, IaC, and the judgement to know when to use each. * Experience treating internal engineers as customers - gathering requirements, running a backlog, measuring adoption - not just shipping tools and hoping people use them. * Comfortable working without a spec: you have operated in fast-moving environments where you set the direction as much as you follow it. * Proficient in at least one scripting or backend language (Python, Go, or equivalent) and confident building automation and tooling, not just configuring managed services. * You actively build AI-powered tooling into platform and infrastructure workflows - cost anomaly detection, intelligent alerting, automated runbooks - not just use AI in your editor. NICE TO HAVE * Previous fintech or regulated-industry experience where security and compliance constraints shaped your platform decisions. * Hands-on experience with platform engineering frameworks such as Backstage or Port, or building a comparable internal portal. * Exposure to multi-region or multi-currency infrastructure at scale, ideally serving markets in Africa, Europe or the Americas. WHY JOIN LEMFI? Love shouldn’t be expensive, yet those working hardest for their families often face predatory fees and banking exclusion. We're changing this. At LemFi, you won’t be just a cog in a machine. Whether designing products, scaling operations, or telling our story, you’ll tackle complex challenges with real, immediate impact. Your work goes beyond metrics - it puts money back in families’ pockets and offers access to the previously excluded. Join us to make a meaningful difference, where high performance is a lifeline for millions. You can connect with us on LinkedIn and Instagram and if you haven't already, download the app on the App Store or Google Play.
