We’ve done a pretty good job so far, but we’re just getting started!  🏡🏢This is a hybrid role, our engineering teams work from our London (Moorgate) Office 2 days per week. The Role We're looking for Senior Software Engineers to help us build the products that small businesses across the UK and US rely on every day. You'll work across cross-functional teams alongside Product Managers, QA Engineers, and fellow Software Engineers, owning problems end to end, from the first line of code through to production, monitoring, and continuous improvement. This isn't a role for someone who wants to be handed a ticket and told what to build. We're looking for engineers who understand the problem, challenge the approach when it needs it, and take pride in the quality of what they ship. We only build what the customer wants. What You’ll Be Doing * Designing and building robust, scalable solutions in .Net/C#, taking full ownership of the SDLC from concept through to production * Playing an active role in architectural decisions and technical direction, shaping how things are built, not just building them * Working closely with Product and QA, bringing your technical perspective early and often * Writing bulletproof unit and integration tests and holding a high bar for code quality across the team * Communicating clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex engineering decisions into business context * Mentoring and supporting engineers around you, raising the standard of the team as well as your own output We’re Looking For 🔎 Required skills: * 5+ years of hands-on experience in C#, .Net and SQL Server; React and Typescript are a strong plus * A clear sense of what senior means. The Team The Banking and Repayments teams sit at the heart of Capital on Tap's product, owning the core account experience for thousands of small business customers. Banking manages account operations, transaction lifecycles, balance management, ClearBank integration, and savings. Repayments owns the repayment rails, including the most recent open banking repayments.  We value engineers who take genuine ownership, work autonomously, and bring depth across the stack. This is a high-priority hire with real impact from day one. What You'll Be Doing As a Senior mobile and backend Software Engineer, you'll own the back-end systems that power our Banking and Repayments platform , while also contributing to mobile - helping transition mobile and front-end ownership from our Customer Experience team into Banking. * Design and build robust, scalable back-end services in C#/.NET * Own the full SDLC - from feature inception through to production, monitoring, and continuous improvement * Contribute to mobile development across iOS and Android using Flutter, Kotlin, and/or Swift * Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA from early feature shaping through to delivery * Write thorough unit and integration tests and uphold high engineering standards * Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements across the team * Work cross-functionally, bridging technical decisions with business goals What We're Looking For   * Mobile development experience in Flutter/Dart, Kotlin, or Swift - this is a firm requirement   * Strong back-end engineering experience, ideally in C#/.NET * Solid testing practice across unit and integration testing * Experience with CI/CD platforms such as CodeMagic or similar * Comfortable working in Agile environments * Autonomous and collaborative - you take ownership and see things through Our Tech Stack * Backend: C#, .NET, .NET Core * Mobile: Flutter, Dart, Riverpod, GoRouter, Kotlin, Swift * Databases: SQL Server, MongoDB, Firestore * Cloud: GCP (Firebase) and Azure * CI/CD: CodeMagic Diversity & Inclusion 🌈 We welcome, consider and encourage applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inclusivity. You will be responsible for leading the design, maintenance, and optimisation of our modern data platform, ensuring high-quality, documented data serves as a strategic asset for the entire company. What You’ll Be Doing 🗃️ * Own the global data stack including Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, and Omni. * Create and maintain well-designed data marts through organised and tested dbt models. * Use frontier AI models (Claude, GPT) in tools like Claude Code and Cursor, plus our internal Snowflake MCP, to accelerate development, and help shape how the business adopts data and AI tooling. * Assemble large, complex data sets that meet specific business requirements. * Implement internal process improvements like Github CI/CD and automation. * Partner with stakeholders across Executive, Risk, Commercial, Finance and Engineering teams. Senior Responsibilities 👑 * Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. * Take full architectural ownership of the Data Platform, ensuring scalable and robust designs. * Exert strategic influence across the business to align data initiatives with long-term company goals. * Define and implement global data modelling standards and best practices across the organization. * Contribute to the long-term technical roadmap, identifying future technologies and process optimizations. We’re Looking For 🔎 * Expert SQL skills and knowledge of data modelling (e.g., Kimball). * Hands-on experience with dbt and Git for building SQL-based pipelines. * Experience with ELT tools (Fivetran) and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake). * Familiarity developing within BI tools like Looker, Omni, Tableau, or PowerBI. * Strong analytical skills with a customer-centric approach toward Data Analysts. * Excellent interpersonal skills to translate technical concepts for stakeholders. * Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional technical initiatives. * Advanced system design and data warehousing skills, with the ability to architect complex, multi-layered data environments.
