The successful candidate will join the infrastructure team at QRT. Collaborating with Windows, UNIX, Network and database teams
the candidate will work on designing solutions to meet shared storage requirements to support QRT’s needs – covering Windows file
shares, NFS shares, performant storage attached networks for database clusters etc. The role will include building and maintaining
vendor relationships, product selection, design and implementation. The role will also include development of a data backup
solution and will involve contributing to QRTs business continuity plans.
As well as design work the role is a technical, hands-on position.

The global Infrastructure team designs, builds, and operates QRT’s high-performance compute and research environments. The team focuses on automation, scalability, and reliability across datacentres and research platforms, working closely with engineering, storage, and research groups worldwide. Your Future Role within QRT You will help automate all aspects of a growing, cutting-edge datacentre and research platform. You will build tooling, pipelines, and guardrails that turn network intent into safe, repeatable outcomes for QRT’s high-performance on-premise datacentre. * Design and evolve the network automation framework (source of truth, templating, validation, change control). * Build idempotent automation to provision and operate data centre fabrics at scale. * Integrate with vendor APIs and SDKs (e.g. Arista EOS, NetQ etc.) * Capture network intent as code, ensuring peer reviews and quality gates. * Instrument the network with telemetry, alerting, and SLOs to drive automated remediation. * Adhere to NetDevOps practices and share knowledge across the team. * Collaborate with network and platform engineers to translate designs into automated workflows. * Deliver frequent, incremental improvements through safe, tested changes. * Monitor vendor and industry developments and propose practical adoption paths. Your Present Skillset * Advanced Python development for production-grade tools and services. * Go (preferred) for performant tooling. * Strong Ansible experience (roles, collections, YAML/JSON data models). * Git proficiency including branching, pull requests, and semantic versioning. * Observability fundamentals (Prometheus, Grafana, logging and tracing). * Source of truth/CMDB systems (NetBox, Nautobot etc.). * Linux networking (iptables, DHCP, DNS) and strong Bash scripting. * Workflow orchestration (Temporal or equivalent). * Network validation and testing tools (pyATS, NAPALM etc.). * Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). * Secure secrets and configuration management (Vault, PKI best practices). * Experience with data centre fabrics, QoS, and high-performance networking is a plus. As an Engineering Manager, you will work with your team to build mission-critical Lakebase services on the Databricks Platform at scale. Lakebase enables teams to deliver applications faster with an optimized database developer experience, integration with the lakehouse, and simplified operations. It provides a managed Postgres transactional layer for application state and workloads that combine operational data, analytics, and AI. You'll join as one of the founding engineering leaders to build out both the Lakebase product and our London presence. You will join a Network Engineering team responsible for designing and operating large-scale datacentre and high-performance computing (HPC) network infrastructure. The team works closely with Quantitative Researchers, Traders, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, high-performance connectivity across compute and storage platforms. Your Future Role within QRT You will: * Architect, engineer and deliver large-scale datacentre network infrastructure supporting HPC environments * Design and build network fabrics with a focus on scalability, resilience and performance * Support connectivity across compute, storage and cloud platforms * Troubleshoot complex issues across large-scale network environments * Collaborate with project management and engineering teams across the organisation * Engage with network vendors and contribute to engineering discussions on products and solutions * Contribute to a software-driven network engineering approach, including automation and tooling * Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to evolve network infrastructure Your present skillset * Demonstrate expert knowledge of datacentre networking technologies, including EVPN/VXLAN * Demonstrate expert knowledge of routing protocols and resilient fabric design, with proven experience designing, building and troubleshooting large-scale datacentre network fabrics * Understand switch ASICs, buffering models, platform capabilities and performance trade-offs * Have experience with RDMA, RoCE and/or UEC networks * Understand datacentre physical standards, including fibre, optics, cabling, switch airflow, cooling and power * Have knowledge of WAN engineering and cloud interconnects supporting hybrid infrastructure and cloud bursting * Have at least basic practical knowledge of Python or Go/Golang, Ansible, Git and AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude * Be comfortable getting hands-on with smaller engineering tasks as well as larger strategic projects * Be a highly collaborative team player who takes ownership of complex problems and major project deliverables, communicating clearly and working across teams to drive successful outcomes QRT is an equal opportunity employer.
