YOUR MISSION For the Mittelstand Investment team, we are looking for exceptional individuals to join our Munich office. You will work at the heart of fast-paced, partnership-driven investments, collaborating closely with established entrepreneurs and family-owned "hidden champions.” As an associate, you will be involved in all parts of the deal, from sourcing, over deal execution, portfolio work and exit and are expected to take on responsibility and ownership early on. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Working together with team members on all aspects of the investment process from deal origination, due diligence analysis and execution to portfolio value creation and exit processes * Responsibility for individual modules in the due diligence and execution of investment opportunities, e.g., commercial assessment of market and company, in-depth financial analyses and financial modelling, as well as legal and tax due diligence, legal documentation and financing * Process management, e.g., for due diligence or financing processes, by coordinating internal transaction progress, as well as external consultants and advisors * Value creation in portfolio companies (e.g., definition and execution of value enhancement plans and measures, add-on transactions, and financial reporting) YOUR PROFILE * 1-3 years of professional/consulting experience; additional, relevant banking or private equity internships are advantageous * Strong academic background with a degree in business administration, finance, economics, engineering or a related field * Ideally experience in M&A-related projects, e.g., commercial due diligence, PMI, etc. * Outstanding analytical skills, commercial judgement, and sound financial knowledge * High degree of personal responsibility, drive, and ability to work in a team * Confident and pleasant demeanor, clear communication, high level of empathy and strong interpersonal skills * Fluent in German and English WHY US? RESPONSIBILITIES * Support the lifecycle of an M&A transaction, from initial opportunity identification and due diligence to deal negotiation, closing, and post-acquisition integration. * Conduct comprehensive industry and competitive analysis to identify potential acquisition targets, investment opportunities, and strategic partnerships. * Build detailed financial models and valuation analyses to support deal evaluations and recommendations. * Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, finance, and legal to ensure seamless execution. * Present transaction proposals and recommendations to senior management. * Develop and maintain strong relationships with investment banks, advisors, consultants, and other industry professionals. QUALIFICATIONS * 1+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a related field. * Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience building complex financial models from scratch. * Experience with a variety of deal structures, including M&A, carve-outs, equity investments, and joint ventures. * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal). * Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and fluent project management skills.
