Als Junior Financial Controller unterstützt du die kaufmännische Leitung in sämtlichen Kernprozessen des Monatsabschlusses, des
Reportings und der Finanzplanung. Du arbeitest direkt mit dem CFO zusammen, übernimmst eigenständige, verantwortungsvolle Aufgaben
im Reporting sowie Forecasting und trägst zu einer transparenten und belastbaren Finanzsteuerung des Unternehmens bei.

SO BRINGST DU DEINE PS AUF DIE STRASSE * In dieser Rolle unterstützt du die Risikocontrolling-Funktion gemäß (ZAG)MaRisk AT 4.4.1, bspw. bei der Risikoinventur und bei der Erstellung des institutsweiten Gesamtrisikoprofils. * Du wirkst bei der Weiterentwicklung des unternehmensweiten internen Kontrollsystems nach § 25a KWG und MaRisk mit und unterstützt dabei, Kontrollen in den Fachbereichen wirksam zu verankern. * Die Mitarbeit in der laufenden Überwachung der Risikosituation, der Risikotragfähigkeit sowie der definierten Risikolimite gehört ebenfalls zu deinem Aufgabenbereich. * Gemeinsam mit dem Team arbeitest du daran, Risikosteuerungs- und Risikocontrollingprozesse weiterzuentwickeln und unterstützt bei der Pflege von Risikokennzahlen sowie Frühwarnsystemen. * Du unterstützt bei der Erstellung von regelmäßigen Risikoberichten für Geschäftsleitung und Gremien sowie bei anlassbezogenen Analysen. * Du beobachtest regulatorische Entwicklungen und hilfst dabei, Optimierungspotenziale im Risikocontrolling abzuleiten – im engen Austausch mit anderen Fachbereichen. DAS IST DEINE AUSSTATTUNG * Ein abgeschlossenes Studium der Wirtschaftswissenschaften (mit den Schwerpunkten Financial Services, Banking oder Risikomanagement), oder eine vergleichbare Qualifikation bildet die Basis für diese Position. * Du bringst erste praktische Erfahrungen im Risikocontrolling, in der internen Revision eines regulierten Unternehmens oder im Prüfungs- bzw. Beratungsumfeld (z. B. Role Overview The Senior Financial Accountant is a key member of the UK Finance team with a remit spanning finance operations, financial control and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, high levels of data and IT literacy, and a sharp focus on quality and control. Key Responsibilities Financial Controllership & Reporting: * Act as the Financial Controller’s key partner across financial controllership, supporting finance operations, technical accounting, reporting and tax, and helping drive standards, discipline and continuous improvement. * Take responsibility for executing the majority of month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring outputs are accurate, complete and delivered on time in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements. * Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts, with direct responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and key control accounts. * Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and disclosures. * Execute and maintain financial reporting models required for a scaling bank (including IFRS 2, IFRS 9 and IFRS 16), adhering to model risk management requirements, with a strong willingness to deepen technical understanding over time. * Support the external audit process by coordinating and delivering high-quality documentation and analysis, ensuring audit requests are addressed accurately and efficiently. * Assist with internal audit activities, ensuring timely, well-evidenced responses to findings and recommendations. Finance Operations & Tax: * Execute a broad range of day-to-day finance operations activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and cash settlements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and strong control discipline. * Partner with external advisors on tax compliance and reporting, including corporation tax, VAT partial exemption, R&D tax credits and PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSA). * Ensure all financial operations operate within the Bank’s governance, risk and control framework, maintaining strong oversight of financial data quality and reconciliations. Controls, Process Optimisation & Governance: * Design, implement and continuously enhance internal controls to strengthen financial governance and mitigate risk in a high-growth environment. * Proactively identify and deliver process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability and reporting accuracy. * Maintain and evolve financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with internal governance standards and regulatory expectations. * Collaborate closely with Treasury, Risk, Operations, Product and Technology teams to support cost control, asset capitalisation and other finance-related processes. * Act as a key business partner to Group Finance and UK stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency and high-quality financial information flows. Requirements: Education & Qualifications: * Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CPA or CIMA), or in the final stages of qualification. * 2–5 years’ post-qualification experience (or equivalent practical experience) within banking, financial services or another regulated environment. Technical & Professional Skills: * Strong core accounting knowledge with practical experience applying IFRS in a financial reporting environment. * Hands-on experience delivering month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting in a controlled environment. * Exposure to statutory accounts preparation and supporting external audits. * Understanding of UK tax fundamentals (corporation tax, VAT), with experience working alongside external advisors. * Experience working with advanced accountings ledgers (Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central / Navision preferred). * Strong Excel capability and high data literacy, with the ability to interrogate large data sets and improve reporting accuracy and efficiency. * Comfortable leveraging modern tools, including AI solutions such as ChatGPT or similar platforms, with solid prompt-writing skills and a practical mindset toward automation and process optimisation. Exposure to SQL/Python and Atlassian tools would be advantageous. * Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to quality and control. * Well organised, able to prioritise effectively and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, regulated environment. * Confident communicator, able to work effectively with Group Finance and cross-functional stakeholders. * Fluent in spoken and written English. Role & Requirements Alpha FMC are looking for a Cost Accountant to join the team to support the company’s rapid growth and following recent acquisitions. Key Responsibilities: • Working in the Financial Controller teams responsible for cost and controls including the production of monthly management accounts. • Ensure supplier invoices and expenses are appropriately approved, correctly posted and paid. Approve new supplier set up including independent bank account verification as required. • Prepare / approve monthly journals for accruals, depreciation, prepayments, operating expenses etc. Working with the Revenue Accountant to ensure Cost of Sales and Revenue recognition are aligned to KPIs. At all stages ensuring expenditure variances to budget / expectation are reviewed and explained and/or adjusted accordingly. • Prepare monthly balance sheet files for relevant nominal captions. Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure accurate capitalization of costs where applicable. Ensure balances are revalued, reconciliations are up to date, and reconciling items are investigated and actioned promptly. • Working with the Business Partnering team to provide commentary on variance analysis on the local CEO packs financial statements and KPIs. Perform ad hoc cost analysis as required. • Provide input into the Business Partnering led Budget and Reforecast process, including run rate analysis of overheads and working capital cash conversion. • Provide the Transactional Finance Team (AR&AP) with assistance on bank transactions postings and approve the monthly bank reconciliations. • Working with the help of the Transactional Finance Team as required, prepare and submit VAT/GST returns and other local compliance filings. • Support the local entity and the group’s annual statutory filings, audit(s) and tax return process by providing responses to information requests and follow on queries. • Highlight errors or issues to the Financial Controller and resolve discrepancies • Build strong relationships and rapport with stakeholders internally • Manage, train and support to junior members of the team We want to hear from people with: • Finalist / Qualified Accountant with management accountant experience • BSc/MSc in Economics or Finance or equivalent professional experience • Strong Excel skills, strong IT systems skills • Focus on team achievement, not just individual goals • First-class interpersonal skills, with ability to influence and lead • Proactivity • Ability to cope with demanding and fast-paced environment • Excellent organisation skills and rigorous attention to detail • Business / financial services experience helpful Location and working pattern: • Alpha is proud to offer a hybrid working arrangement wherein staff are able to combine office and home working.
